Coeden looked down at his feet not wanting to make eye contact with the furious blistering eyes that demanded immediate answers from him. He could feel the hatred and the burning sensation that came from their stare. Coeden began to sink down into his skin just wanting to disappear forever. He could hear the anger in every breath they took. Coeden finally looked up at the large komo that stood before him. He began to shake but not to obvious that someone could tell.
“You know what you’ve done wrong. Just admit it!”
Wrong? He knew he hasn’t done anything wrong. All he tried to do was stand up for himself. Coeden began to mouth out that he was sorry and he won’t ever do it again, but it wasn’t good enough.
“Say it, say it out loud so everyone can here.”
Coeden cried out that he was sorry and that he’ll never do it ever again. Deep down he wanted to fight them and tell them to leave him alone but he knew if he told them that it would just make matters worse for him. They wouldn’t leave him alone, why should they leave him alone?
They began to laugh at him and make fun of how weak he was. The mocked his tone of voice and copied what he said. ‘I’m sorry! I won’t ever ever do it again.’ Coeden fought off tears that began to form. In between sobbing breaths he wiped away the tears that were trying to form. He was more scared and embarrassed then he was actually sad. He began to slowly back away from the komos that stood in front of him. They were much larger than he was and meant business.
“Ah look at him! He is so weak that he is going to run!”
They ran over grabbing him by the shoulders. Coeden tried to slip out of their grip but couldn’t.
“Next time you better think before you make me and my friends look like fools in front of everyone. You got that you little sapling?”
He leaned over snapping one of the branches on the bonsai that grew on his back.
“Now you will remember this moment forever and you’ll learn for next time.”
They released him and half throwing him onto the floor. Coeden landed with a big thud. He could no longer hold in the tears. They came rushing out drenching the fur below his eyes. He looked back at the snapped branch on his back. It was the first actual branch that began to grow. Instantly his fear turned into anger and his tears on his face turned into miniature fire balls. He got up to his feet and glared at the komos that walked away from him. They were happy for doing things like this to komos who stand up for themselves even if it makes others look like fools, then be it. They will learn the hard way that in life you can’t always get what you want. He took a deep breath and calmed himself down, he was going to be the bigger komo in this situation and not let anything else get to carried away or get worst. For him this meant an new outlook on life - to be yourself even if others don't want you to. If it is your friends well then you may need to reconsider your friendship.
