story POV: Cindy

"Come on guys, we're late!" I grabbed my satchel and turned around to look at the boys behind me. Andrew and Greg were sure taking their sweet time. We were about to embark on our quest to save kalon kind, but we were so late, due to... complications. The guys didn't seem to care all that much, but then again, I'm not sure what they actually care about. Our destination was the forest, and it was dark and creepy. I didn't tell the guys this, but I'm actually super afraid of the dark.

"W-well we would have gone out sooner b-but..." Greg stumbled over his words as he grabbed a dagger to use as a weapon. It always confused me because Greg really isn't the one to harm anything, but yet he chose the only weapon we had. I glanced over at Andrew who grabbed the huge backpack filled with all of our camp and food supplies. I sighed and made sure to lock the shop before we headed out.

We walked north for a little while until we saw the large trees of the forest. They were towering pine trees, and they went up as far as the eye could see.

"I have a b-bad feeling about this..." Greg walked slightly closer to Andrew for protection. I rolled my eyes at him.

"We have to do this, for all of kalon kind!" I said, trying to encourage Greg to be more optimistic. "The first crystal was already found, but I think we'll be able to find the next one!" I ran forward into the trees, hearing the footsteps of my friends behind me. This was our first steps into this adventure, and I was more than ready, despite the darkness swallowing me up.

story POV: Andrew

It was an incredibly long time before me, Cindy, and Greg decided on a spot to set up camp. I set down the super heavy backpack and began to unpack our small tent and pillows. As soon as we got there, Cindy headed out again to go and explore the area and set up monster traps. Greg helped me set up our tent, though he was the only one sleeping in it since he was the most scared of the dark.I and Cindy didn't mind sleeping outside since I mostly enjoy sleeping under the stars.

It was a few minutes before me and Greg heard frantic footsteps coming toward our campsite. Cindy busted through the bushes and hugged me and Greg tightly. "Another m-monster is coming!" she struggled to speak through her fear. Greg began to shiver with her while I just rolled my eyes.

"Bears are more afraid of you than you are of them, Cindy," I said, getting up from my seated position and grabbing my slingshot to chase whatever the threat may be. "You don't have to run like that."

"But it wasn't a bear!" she exclaimed, hiding behind Greg. I noticed him just frozen in fear. I sighed. They truly were made for each other. Just kiss already. I thought.

Before I could go and see what the threat was, a tiny mouse scurried from the bushes where Cindy arrived and found a crumb to chew on. I turned around to face the cowering kalons. "Was this what you heard, Cindy?"

She shook her head, obviously too terrified to speak. I turned back around and noticed that the mouse seemed to have multiplied by at least one hundred times since now there were so many that I couldn't even count. It was like a huge wave of just tiny mice. Now I could understand my partners' fear.

I backed away slowly back to Greg and Cindy, who was just staring at the mountain of mice, terrified. The mice could easily just avalanche onto us and crush us, and they seemed to be watching us as well, waiting for us to make a sudden movement to pounce. I wasn't sure exactly what they were after, but I figured out that they were after our food supply.

"Run," I whispered to them as they stood up from their cowering. Greg's paw was wrapped around his dagger, and Cindy tried to sneak a few snacks. They didn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, and I got impatient. "I said run, you guys!"

As soon as I said that the avalanche began. The mouse mountain began to fall on top of us. I picked up Cindy and pushed Greg out of the way of the biggest cluster of mice. A few landed on us, and Cindy wouldn't stop wriggling! It was a lot of struggling, but we managed to escape the wave of mice and we were now running out to who knew where.

It seemed like forever until we stopped running to take a break. "Welp..." Cindy said as I put her down. "There goes of our food and weapons...."

"W-well maybe they didn't take all of our stuff..?" Greg suggested, trying to stay optimistic, though I noticed that he was about to start crying. "In the m-morning w-we can go back and check."

And we did just that. It was a long night without shelter, but we were able to find some large leaves to use as blankets and beds. As soon as dawn hit, we headed back to our campsite. After the long walk back, we found that all of our stuff had holes and bite marks on them, and our food was pretty much gone... except for the bananas that we had.

I sighed and picked up a bag that had the least amount of holes and bites marks, and put the bananas and knife in it. I turned to my partners' who looked at the scene in sadness. "Don't worry guys," I said, patting them both on the head. "We'll get new cool stuff when we continue our quest to save kalon kind."

Briceus side quest day 3

Postby Sunniedew » Sat Jul 01, 2017 10:22 am

Kalons being used;; Cindy, Andrew, and Greg
Quest response;; (story POV: Greg)

"Weasels give me goosebumps..." I mumbled as I shuffled my paws and put my dagger back in the little pocket where it belonged. I hated having it with me since fighting really wasn't my strong suit, but I wanted to show Cindy that I can be just as tough as her and Andrew. We had just chased the pesky weasel out of the tavern, and Briceus was very pleased. It made me feel good about myself since I actually was able to do something to help someone else.

Cindy and Andrew were talking to a few other kalons who happened to be in the tavern as well. I would join them, but I felt a little bit... tired. I yawned and went to go find Briceus.

Before I could do much, I heard screams and yowls coming from outside. "It's the monsters!" I heard Cindy say. Two medium sized monsters busted through the tavern doors. I yelped in fear, accidentally dropping my dagger on the floor. I looked closer at the enemies, and saw the weasel that we had just chased out! He was leading the monsters back in!

"Greg! Get your dagger!" I heard Andrew's voice behind me. He was grabbing different glasses and throwing them at the monsters. I frantically looked around for my dagger, but I didn't see it. Suddenly, I felt a force knock me down onto the wooden floor. With a smack, I felt a large talon step on my face. I struggled under the huge creature, but my efforts were wasted. Then, I felt the creature fly off of my body. I looked up and noticed that Cindy punched him in the face! She glared at me. "Greg, are you okay?" she yelled to me through the chaos. I nodded and she helped me up.

"We have to throw water on them!" Andrew called to us, pouring a bucket of water on a wriggling monster. It shrieked in agony and ran right out of the tavern with its tail between its legs. Cindy found cups filled with different liquids and started throwing them like bombs, hitting monsters until they ran out of the tavern. I grabbed the first thing I saw and was able to hit a few until all of the monsters were out of the tavern, and all that was left was the pesky weasel.

I squeaked and bolted out of the tavern as it saw huge Andrew stomp towards it. I looked around and saw Briceus cowering behind the counter. I trotted over to him and next to him was my dagger. I picked it up and put it back in my pocket. I turned and held out my hand to Briceus to help him up. "A-are you okay, B-Briceus?" I asked through stuttered words.

He nodded frantically and gave me a hug. "Thank you, thank you again!" he let go and looked around his tavern and sighed. "But now this place is a mess...." Cindy ran over to Briceus and gave him a quick hug. "Well let's clean up then!" she turned to Andrew and he nodded as he started to pick up broken glass that was on the floor.

Story POV: Cindy

We continued to walk from our old campsite in order to find a new one. I was tired and unmotivated since we lost all of our stuff to the mouse tsunami. All we had left were bananas and chewed up weapons. The only question that I had was; why didn't the mice eat the bananas? Was there something wrong with them? I half didn't care.

I took a banana from the bag that Andrew was carrying and started to peel it. When I was about to take a bite, I was interrupted by some strange singing that was close by. We all stopped in our tracks and listened. The singing was enticing, to say the least.

"Who is t-that?" Greg stuttered, shaking in his shoes. Andrew just shrugged and kept walking. He was obviously uninterested in the beautiful singing. "I don't know," I responded since Andrew didn't seem to care. "Do you wanna go check it out?"

Greg seemed to be conflicted. He looked like he wanted to go, but I could tell he didn't think it was a good idea. I thought it would be a fun little adventure, even if it may be dangerous. I glanced at Andrew, who didn't actually stop walking. He was walking in the other direction of the singing.

"Come on, Andrew, it'll be fun!" without waiting for an answer, I ran towards the singing. I heard Greg behind me, struggling to keep up with his tired legs. I looked at me and didn't see Andrew. Where did he go? I didn't really have time to look. We approached the singer and we were instantly impressed. She was a beautiful wolf with long hair and sparkly iridescent scales. She was singing in the middle of a puddle pool that was shimmering under the moonlight. I glanced over at Greg who was staring at the wolf with such wonder and... attraction... I felt slight jealousy in my stomach.

The wolf turned around and looked right at us. She saw us! She didn't do much though, and she just kept singing, but it sounded louder this time... and it seemed to be getting louder... and louder... it was starting to hurt my ears. Greg seemed to hear it getting louder as well since he began to wince at the sudden sound. Her singing continued to get louder, and it started to become unbearable. I tried to move to cover my ears but I couldn't move a muscle. I started to shake and grind my teeth together. Greg was shaking and I saw tears well up in his eyes. The singing just got louder and louder. I closed my eyes. She was going to make us turn deaf!

Before I could call for help, the sound stopped suddenly. The sudden silence felt so nice I can't describe. I've never felt relief like I did in that moment. I opened my eyes and saw that Andrew replaced the wolf with himself. The puddle pool turned into a gross mud puddle. He was covered in mud and scratches. He walked up to me and Greg and held out his hand. "Are you two alright?" he asked, helping me up. I nodded. It felt weird to hear normal speaking.

"WHO WAS THAT?" Greg wailed as he got to his feet. "WHY DID SHE DO THAT? DID YOU KNOW ABOUT HER?" Andrew just patted him softly on the head. "That's not important. Come on, I found another campsite." he started walking in the direction that we were originally headed.

Greg wasn't taking that for an answer. For the first time, he seemed actually mad. "What do you know that we don't?" he snapped as he followed Andrew. I walked behind them, and Andrew seemed to be ignoring Greg! Why was he ignoring him?

We kept walking until we got to the other campsite. The two guys were silent. I could feel the tension between them, and it was definitely real. "Andrew?" I tapped o his shoulder. "Who was that singing wolf?"

"It's better if you don't know," he responded. I didn't like that answer, but I figured it was the best I was going to get. I nodded and sat down next to him and started to peel another banana. "Will you ever tell us?"

Andrew just shrugged and laid down on his back. I sighed and took a bite. I stared at the stars and thought; What is he hiding?

story POV: Greg

I brushed off the pine needles that were stuck to my fur as we continued to walk through the forest. Cindy was taking the lead, while me and Andrew brought up the rear. Today, Cindy was definitely more eager than usual to get going, since she was walking way faster than she has before. Andrew wasn't complaining, and neither was I. I didn't want to talk to him since he wouldn't tell us who that singing wolf was and why she almost made us deaf.

Suddenly, Cindy broke off into a sprint. "Guys! We're close!" she called as she ran. "The crystal is just up ahead, and we'll be out of this forest!"

I started to run to catch up, and Andrew just jogged. We ran until Cindy came to a sudden, but soft stop. She was breathing heavily, and she was staring at something that had a strange glow to it. I peered over her shoulder and my breath was taken away. There it was, the second crystal.

Cindy grabbed the bag from Andrew, who was also standing there in complete awe. She gently grabbed the crystal and began to slowly put it inside of the bag. "You guys keep watch, there might be something guarding it."

Me and Andrew did as we were told. We looked around until I noticed a rather large pair of eyes staring at us from the darkness. The eyes were red and menacing. I tapped lightly on Cindy's shoulder. "c-c-Cindy... there's a m-monster..!"

Cindy looked up and dropped the crystal on the ground as she saw the pair of eyes. Andrew growled and scooped up the crystal and stuffed it into the bag. "Run!" he said, taking off in the opposite direction. I followed close behind, and Cindy was struggling to keep up. I heard the large monster's feet right behind us, and the second chase begun.

Raffi lost pretty quickly when it was Andrew's turn to spar with him. Andrew didn't even use any of the weapons he provided, instead he just stuck with the dagger he had used on this journey.

Well, well, well, looks like you're capable.
..at least some of you. ;D

Although I think you're prepared, I'm gonna send you on something on the easier side this time just to be sure. If you're looking for our elemental crystal, I think this might help you. God knows where that thing is.. Could be miles down in the ground for all we know. So you gotta be prepared to look there. Here, I'll come with you.

-he drags you out to some caves outside his shop. When you look into them, all you can see are deep pools of lava.-

What? Are you scared?
...

Oh you thought we were gonna swim in there? No no, the bird.
-He points to a big ole phoenix. It's amazingly beautiful, but it has a silly little bird face.-
Hop on. We're gonna go explore these caves. What do you think we'll find? ;3c
