Do you have any writing-related resolutions for 2019?

I plan on doing daily writing prompt things! I’ve also been getting on my notes app and writing out my feelings whenever I have really strong ones. I’ve found I write better when I have an emotion to focus on, wether it be anger or loneliness.

-

(I hope we’re allowed to share writing here?? Oof)
Something I wrote when I was feeling a little down,,

I often find that my brain works in weird ways. Like how I can remember the exact degree of your smile, or the hue of your eyes. How I sang every word to the song on the radio this morning, but I can’t seem to find my voice when asked if I am okay. My favorite time of the day is when it’s over. The burning sun sinks below the covers of the horizon, and sells its light to the moon. But, I am afraid of the dark. So I close my eyes, and try to imagine the light of the stars all around me. I feel the same way about love, and falling. You can’t call something a fear if you’re not wholeheartedly afraid of it. I am not afraid of falling, I’m afraid of what will happen when I stop. I am not afraid of loving, I’m afraid of what will happen if you don’t love me too. I am not afraid of the dark, I’m afraid that your heat vision will pick up the coldness of my heart; like an x-ray seeking the truth. I am not afraid of you. I’m afraid of what you’ll think when you find out that I am nothing more than carbon, and sadness. I am not afraid. I’m not.

Of course we can share writing, it's a writing thread after all. And I like the emotion of the piece, soft and sad

If crediting me for art/character design then please use TheSongOfTheStars on Toyhou.se
or FiveSecondsToFly on deviantart for anywhere else

    sup y'all. it's been a while, huh?
i really haven't written much, but i want to do more this year! fortunately my mental health has been on the up and up, so i'll probably be able to focus on writing poetry that isn't just me venting all my awful feelings onto a google doc!

    here's some fun poetry i've written semi-recently!
erik to christine wrote:my love, my love,
    my beautiful girl
how sweet is the song that you sing!

    my heart, my heart,
    i give it to you
though opera ghost i may be.

    he laughs, he laughs,
    that ignorant fool,
believing you lie to his face -

    but oh, but oh,
    how soon he shall see
your angel of music am i!

track 2 wrote:your comments oh so lovely,
your laugh is oh so sweet,
    but everything you say
just makes my knees go weak

my head, it goes all swimmy,
    my fingers become numb
i know it’s not my body
and it makes me feel quite dumb

it can only take a minute
of your bright voice in my ear
    before i get all antsy
    and am bordering on tears

a good day wrote:today has been a good day.

before i left for the bus, i told my dad i loved him
and i packed myself a lunch that was more than just crackers.
i sang along to silly songs as i waited for the bus to arrive.

before school began, i passed my teacher in the hall.
she seemed genuinely happy to see me.
she smiled at me and greeted me; it felt like we were friends.

i sat down to do my homework before the bell rang.
my thoughts were interrupted by a thank-you note
handed to me by a boy i made feel safe and included.

in chemistry i got back my test that so many failed
and saw that i got a ninety-nine on it.
the teacher called me naturally bright.

in spanish i sat in the front of class as everyone wrote compliments on the whiteboard.
as i packed up my things, i told the teacher to have a great day.
she seemed surprised and touched; she said it back.

in english, i reconnected with an old friend.
she made me feel welcome and we talked the whole class.
i didn’t realize how much i loved talking to her.

in math, i understood what the teacher was talking about.
he joked with us and we said we’d bring in crowns for him.
i had the homework that he assigned; it was complete and correct.

in business, i started writing my research paper.
i learned that one of my idols was openly gay
and that he was as married as you could be in the sixties.

in history, i finished my assignment early and decided to write.
the coach has imagine dragons playing and keeps joking with us all.
i had my homework for him for the first time in weeks.

today has been a good day.

and to think i started it with an anxiety attack.

These are absolutely beautiful, track 2 is my favorite. Everything about these makes me want to start writing poetry again.
Hey, I'm FrighteningAsuna. I'm a big fan of SAO abridged, anime, and books. I listen to some kpop, some rock, and tons of OSTs. I have seen more tv shows and movies than I can count. Also I'm writing a book and I ramble a lot.

hey y'all i have a lil fun question i've been wondering about!

do you find that what you read influences your writing style? how much? and how do you use that to impact your writing?

i find that it's really big for me, and sometimes gets in the way. when i write period pieces i'm always drowning in primary sources to adapt to the writing/speaking style during that time. :0 and that when i want to convey something specific, i start by reading someone who has that style. but, on the other hand, i sometimes stop myself from reading a book to avoid my style changing while i'm in the middle of something! it's a lot of fun, i think, and i'd really like to know other people's experiences. (:

A Good Day is amazing! I love the reminder that no matter how crappy a day may begin, it can always get better - and might even become one of the best :D

YES. I have that! And I've done the same thing, where it's almost like, "If I read this story, it will ruin my writing. Put the book down." XD

Lol, funny you should bring that up, bc (this goes for everyone) I was going to mention today that I forgot to tell you guys my competition-thread is up and running again! XD The deadline has technically been reached, but as there were no entries, if someone lets me know you want to write for it I'll be happy to wait c: If anyone's interested in what it is, click the picture below!

"The planets are now cats. Please adjust accordingly"
"But what if I want that book?"
"IT WAS OFF WHEN I TURNED IT ON!"

A little, yeah. I focused more on descriptions after reading Patrick Rothfus, and I've tried to tackle more real problems after reading Strange the Dreamer, though that did kinda make my stuff a little old for CS policy.
