I only ask because I've spent weeks (/months) planning my book but I was talking to my friend who is also writing a book, and he said that he didn't plan it and that he's just flat out written it. I don't know how he does it, it's a full on 20,000 word long thing and he's not done any planning except for a really convoluted family tree.

Depends... Sometimes yes sometimes not. Long stories I do, short ones I don't.

Sometimes. War of Kings had like zero planning whatsoever, but Mechanical Pixies on the other hand - I'm doing an actual outline for that.

I plan them out in my head, but I usually change the plot loads as I go along. I don't tend to actually write things down as a plan, I find that it stops me from enjoying my writing as much.

I am still feel so wrong in place, because I have the feeling that everyone is writing really long storys, with a lot of chapters. And I'm sitting here like "hey, this short story hit page four, time to end it!" XD
Earlier when I wrote longer storys I planed them. Toke notes how the main character looks like (also draw them), what will happen, some ideas for parts/chapter. Most of the plans where notes and ideas wich I never used. Idk why
But now: no. I don't really need to plan it. I have an idea and it turns out to somthing while I'm writing.

I was just thinking back on that question going around as I joined in V1, something about killing characters.

I have a very bad mindstate, I actually like killing off my characters... I'm horrible.
