A light colored viscet was charging straight towards Genova, who braced himself, his mouth split in a wide grin. At the last second, he jumped out of the way, thinking the viscet would shot straight past him. He underestimated the other viscet though, who turned suddenly and purposely slammed into him, sending him flying a short distance, skidding on his tail and probably dislodging a good few feathers. "Oi! That was out of line, Jahi!" He called over, and although his words were meant to be chiding, his tone was filled with amusement. "As a future leader, you really should respect your friends more!" Jahi only laughed in reply, walking closer and holding out a paw.
"And as a future leader's friend, you should be aware of tricks." He replied cheerfully. Genova accepted the paw, getting back up and brushing off his tail, before looking back mournfully at the lost feathers. "I would love to do that again, if only to see that hilarious expression on your face, but it's time for the meeting." Jahi said, sighing. The pair walked towards the group of Leaf viscets waiting for them, and they left to meet the other two packs, Vine and Rain.

"I can't believe you'll break the alliance like that." Ekon, Jahi's father and leader of the Leaf Pack, growled out, thumping his tail and glaring at the other pack leaders, Mazur of the Vine and Thyne of the Rain. "Crossing the border! I thought we went through this last meeting! I guess it seems the rumors about the Vine being untrustworthy were true."
"Now who's jumping to conclusions? I thought we went through that last meeting as well." Mazur snarled, his eyes bright and defiant. "I too, heard rumors of the Leaf planning to betray us, so don't act all high and mighty. We came to this meeting place as equals, and I refuse to be put down due to rumors heard by your viscets." He looked like he was about to add more, and Genova frowned, preparing himself to take more insults from the Vine leader.
"Now now, let's all calm down and solve the issue at hand, not snarl at each other like packless viscets." Thyne interrupted, waving a paw and stepping between Ekon and Mazur. "So it seems like a Vine viscet had dared to cross the territory line. Well, yes, the Vine is at fault for doing so, but," he added, looking to Mazur before he could protest, "I think the Leaf are at fault as well."
Those from their pack who had attended all roared in anger, including Genova and Jahi. How dare another viscet talk to their pack as if it was lower than him? It was a breach of order! Jahi looked like he was about to storm out of the group and approach the leaders, and against his better judgement Genova felt the same. Ekon thumped his tail again, this time to silence his pack. "And how, Thyne, is the Leaf in the wrong? Are we supposed to sit back and let a viscet from another pack invade our territory? Maybe we should give them gifts for coming into our territory, as a reward!"
"I never said that, Ekon. Please, this meeting was to discuss it like proper pack viscets. I accused your pack for I had decided to ask around for information on this territory, and it turned out that your pack did not mark the trees right! In fact, that area almost seems neglected from the lack of marking. Who else to blame but yourself?" Thyne added, sighing.
Genova didn't hear Ekon's reply, having noticed a viscet slither off into the forest around the meeting place. He nudged Jahi, gesturing with his snout to the place where the viscet had left. "Hey Jahi, did you notice that viscet? They just left and it seems like they don't want anyone to notice their absence." He had to nudge Jahi again to get his attention. "Were you even listening?"
"Yeah, yeah, something about viscet and absence." He replied, his eyes still on the arguing pack leaders. "Can we talk later? Seriously, Mazur is up to no good! Accusing our pack like that, when it is so obviously his pack in the wrong! And look at Thyne, being all bossy and calm. I swear, that guy is planning something, you can just tell. I don't know which pack is worse, Vine or Rain." Genova started poking him in earnest, until the other viscet focused on him, irritated. "Were you not listening--"
"It's just boring pack stuff, they argue about territory all the time." Genova said, shaking his head. "Seriously, we have no time to lose! Come on, we need to follow that viscet!" Without waiting for a reply, he hurried after the mysterious viscet, hoping they weren't too late. He tried to track them, scanning the ground for pawprints and the surrounding bushes for any sign of disturbance. Not long into the chase, he knew he lost the suspicious viscet, and he couldn't help but feel disappointed. He knew instinctively that the viscet was up to no good, and his curiosity would not rest until he found out what the viscet was doing.
"Wow, nice, I see you caught the viscet." Jahi said sarcastically, probably irritable from being pulled away from the meeting. "Well, since that mysterious fellow is not here, do you think we should head back and see who is right? I'm itching to see that stuck-up Thyne get something wrong for once. That viscet is too cunning for his own good." Genova interrupted before he could continue. Jahi was extremely loyal to his pack, and once he starts ranting there's no end.
"I know we lost the viscet, but since we're out here we might as well do some investigating of our own. You know, about the pack boundaries between the Vine and Leaf." He added, knowing that would get Jahi's attention. It proved true, and in a few minutes the pair were pushing through the forest, carefully walking next to the territory line, on the Leaf side. It won't do for them to be caught with their paws on the wrong side of the line. Some more minutes in, they found where the Vine viscets supposedly crossed the territory line, over into the Leaf. They looked around, careful not to disturb anything, and to Genova's surprise, they found evidence.
Evidence of Vine treachery.
