ᴘᴇʀsᴏɴᴀʟɪᴛʏ

Image
positive
charismatic || kazumi loves to get out in front of others and just talk; it's one of her favorite things to do. she finds herself making friends easily and being quite good at persuasion.
friendly || she's certainly quite friendly (sometimes, too much) and trusts others quite a lot, even if they were strangers. this could be a good or a bad thing, but she chooses to think of it as something good. after all, she does make more friends with how outgoing and friendly she is, and it generally makes her life better.
honest || she's honest. though not excessively, she's probably not going to lie to you or betray you unless for good purposes or if she really has to. however, kazumi is an absolutely terrible liar, with problems of almost never being able to hold eye contact or being excessively twitchy when she is lying.
creative || she loves colors and imagination and is quite creative. as a florist and an artist, she loves to make colorful art with both paints and plants, arranging the latter in such away to make small sculptures or the like. kazumi loves colors, having very few that she doesn't like, and tries to make everything around her as colorful as possible. she loves just sitting and thinking, letting her imagination run wild and taking her to dreamlands of the impossible.
optimistic || the glass is half full with her; she's a die-hard optimist. kazumi tries her best never to look down, and she prides herself on this trait. it's what helps her be outgoing and confident, and it also helps her deal with hardships in both her relationship with keiko and her life in general.
romantic || kazumi loves romance. roses, hearts, chocolates and stuffed teddy bears -- you better believe valentine's day is one of her favorite holidays. keiko often gets a bit flustered by this, because kazumi's romantic dates -- dim lighting, petals and wine -- are not rare, and kazumi enjoys every bit of them.

neutral
dreamy || kazumi loves to dream, whether in the day or at night. she has a certain knack for remembering the dreams during her sleep, and they usually tend to be odd, nicely distorted versions of reality, like where everything may smell like her favorite flower or everywhere was warm and smelled like a bakery. in the day, she loves to sit and daydream -- which usually leads to small naps.
modern || technology is an interesting subject for her. while she is unfamiliar with programming or anything of the sort, unlike her best friend blackout, she loves to listen to the things technology is capable of achieving. she also tends to stay in more modern trends; music, clothing, art style, you name it.
heavy thinker || many a night kazumi will stay up, like many of us do, staring at the ceiling with exhausted eyes and contemplating her existence and convincing herself she isn't living in the matrix. she tends to think heavily on everything, really; mistakes she'd made, guilty consciences, decisions, existential crises, and the like.
lucky || lucky isn't as much of a personality aspect than a trait itself, but it fits her nevertheless. she's, oddly, incredibly lucky when it comes to even the simplest things. for example, she's good at guessing or winning at games of chance, like dice rolls and coin flips. it never fails to ignore her best friend, blackout, as she seems to start all of the turn-based games they play and dice rolling is ridiculous when they're trying to play a role playing game. she tends to take this luck for granted, even being somewhat smug about it — especially towards blackout.

negative
aloof || her mind is usually distracted and, if she's not particularly energetic that day, she will probably be kind of spacey and out of it. it isn't uncommon for kazumi to go gazing out into nothing, or to even stop in the middle of a sentence after being distracted by thoughts that hold higher priority than her conversation.
careless || though she thinks on decisions for a while, she can be quite careless and easily overlooks things. this can be anything; an obvious mistake in a piece of art she doesn't realize til far later or messing up something important she was supposed to be doing.
impulsive || she is also known for not thinking before making decisions, whether these decisions be to try something different or say something she shouldn't. it isn't completely negative, but it usually lands her in bad situations that could have been very easily avoided.
passive || despite being pretty outgoing, when it comes to making group decisions or arguing, she can be relatively passive, not liking to answer things and will often close up completely and refuse to say a word when she is forced.

scarves of silk
what are the scarves for, many may ask. the answer is simple. her significant other, keiko, is pretty much blind; her eyes are extremely photophobic, preventing her from opening them, and sometimes having to even cover her eyes with a blindfold or something similar. while the scarves themselves are somewhat of a fashion statement, kazumi's scarves act as a guidance tool for keiko. frequently, especially when in unfamiliar or busy places, keiko will hold onto the end of the scarf or tie it around her wrist, where kazumi will help her traverse. the scarves were given to her when she was younger by her "uncle", alvin, as she liked to wear his scarves all of the time before he finally got her some of her own. since then, she has expanded her...scarf collection, but this set of scarves and ribbons are, by far, her ribbons.

accessories
while kazumi's accessories change all of the time with the exception of the scarves and ribbons, she has a similar taste. she enjoys wearing braclets and other jewelry. she also enjoys gloves and leg- or tail-warmers. she also loves to wear hats, but they are altered with extra snaps to make room for her antlers.

clothing
kazumi prefers loose-fitting clothing that is larger sized. she prefers clothing of bright colors as well; white, yellow and red being her favorite colors to wear on shirts. like her girlfriend, she dislikes wearing dresses, but will wear long robes and the like quite often as things to relax in. she prefers her clothes to have simple designs or text on them, if anything at all.

keiko
kazumi and keiko go back a long time, but they've only recently started dating. the two were highly
affectionate before this, though, often leaving many of their friends to jokingly "ship" them, which
would certainly succeed in flustering kazumi. kazumi has been helping keiko since their early pre-
teens when it came to her sight, and the fact that they were nearly constantly together for years
since has certainly helped to stabilize and help their relationship, both the romantic and platonic
parts of it.
they enjoy spending time with each other doing anything, really; kazumi likes to take trips to the
mall and keiko doesn't mind, for example, even likes to come along with her for the outings.

blackout
blackout is kazumi's best friend. though she does not always agree with her friend's usually offensive
or dark sense of humor, the two get along rather nicely. the two both like to play video games and
that's actually how they met in the first place, in the gamer's league of her high school. blackout
likes to be around her and usually tones down his language a bit more when she's around. the two
are very competitive against each other and it isn't uncommon for them to get in arguments or very
heated competitions based on games they're playing and the like. blackout was one of the first viscets
she met after moving from her small village, and he actually helped her a lot when it came to a slight
depression caused by the rather sudden mood. they've been best friends for years, at this point.

tomoko iyama
though her hometown of kamiyoko tends to be fairly segregated species-wise — most tend to keep
to their own — iyama and kazumi have become friends anyway. the two (well, three; keiko often
accompanies) enjoy hanging out with each other wherever, despite the fact that their friendship
isn't looked upon in a very good light to most. tomoko is really one of kazumi's friends that helps
her when it comes to hard times. the two are are somewhat dependent of each other.

alfred “alvin” vincent
her relationship with alvin is a family one, though they are not actual blood family. he's like an
uncle to her, really. having raised her during her father's absence during most of her childhood,
alvin and kazumi soon grew close. in fact, alvin was the first to give her the nickname of "kaz",
an endearing nickname that he still calls her to this day. alvin and kazumi still often correspond,
and meetings between them are treated with quite a good nature. alvin only visits for sure on one
time of the year, due to complications in his life, but he's always present on the day of christmas.

kazumi is a very outgoing, friendly viscet; she has a lot of friends, because of this. these are only her most influential relationships.

\\ backstory

ʙᴀᴄᴋsᴛᴏʀʏ

kazumi was born in the summertime on the eighth of august in a smaller, poorer village in eastern
winderia, a village known as kiyotara, to itō mashiko and his wife, itō akari. the village has since grown into a small
town, but at the time it was quite small with only a few residents. her father, however, was not present for the majority
of her childhood; he was enrolled in a university at kamiyoko, a huge city of eastern winderia, and could not often come
home. kazumi was raised by the village itself, mostly. one of her friends would later become lifelong friends. he was a
brenth viscet that had joined the ranks of eastern winderia's army, and he'd been recently sent to guard the village. so,
this viscet, with the name of alfred vincent — though he insisted she simply call him alvin — would become like an uncle
to her.

when she reached her teenage years, however, her mother and father moved to the city of kamiyoko itself, after saving
money for quite a while to get the funds to make the move. as they were closer to the university now, mashiko no longer
spent so much time away from home, and they lived relatively normal. it was at this time, though, that kazumi met keiko.

ᴄᴜʀᴛᴀɪɴs ᴅʀᴀᴡɴ

it was warm in her room, comfortably warm. enough that it kept her from waking completely, beyond a groggy mess,
that was. she made a small noise and burrowed deeper into the sheets, nosing into the pillow. a blanket caught on one
of her antlers, but she didn't seem to mind, ignoring it completely. unfortunately, being even slightly stirred -- by
nothing, really -- had already set her to waking up, and though she lay there, she couldn't fall back to sleep. she
yawned and finally untangled from the sheets, pulling the one off of her antler, pushed them back and sat up. keiko
wasn't here at the moment; it wasn't uncommon for her to wake up before kazumi and go exploring the house. the house
was dark; keiko would want it that way, after all. only in the shadows, with very little light, could she open her eyes
without pain. kazumi stretched, stood up, and exited the bedroom. “keiko?” she called. “where are you?”

“in the living room!” keiko's voice called back.

kazumi yawned again, reaching back to try and smooth down a fluff of hair that had been sticking up due to her sleep.
her eyes soon found keiko in the darkness, holding a little sketch book. She was leaned over the book, trying to see as
best the could to draw. it wasn't uncommon for keiko to do this; kazumi didn't like it because she was straining her eyes
even more. she knew keiko would be stubborn and wouldn't stop, though, even if she tried to persuade the fox-tailed
viscet to. so, kazumi simply sat down beside her girlfriend and watched her draw, eyes soon adjusting to the darkness.

“what time is it?” keiko asked after a few minutes of sitting in silence.

“about seven-thirty. i can make breakfast if you want.”

keiko looked up, smiling and glancing at her with her dark brown eyes. kazumi smiled back; she loved being able to
see keiko's eyes. they were so pretty. keiko gave a small nod, tilting her head before she returned to her sketch book.
kazumi smiled and a soft laugh escaped her, leaning forward to briefly nuzzle into keiko's dark neck fur. “i love you,”
she murmured, and keiko reached over without looking, finding kazumi's hand and giving it an affectionate squeeze.

“i love you, too.”

youth
by true knight

“Alvin!” Pure joy filled the voice of the small viscling that ducked and poked through the villagers that created the distance between herself and her long-awaited friend, grinning brightly as the approaching brown and white-furred mercenary knelt down to welcome her into his arms. The older Viscet laughed and picked her up into his arms as she squealed with excitement, throwing her arms around his neck and squeezing with utmost enthusiasm. “I missed you!!” she chirped excitedly, and in turn the adult smiled and ruffled her hair playfully.
“Hey, there, Kaz. I missed you, too, kid,” he replied, a certain fondness clinging to his voice as she squeaked and reached up to bat his paw away with her own tiny ones, her red eyes opening to gaze up at Alvin. “What were you up to while I was gone, huh? You've gotten bigger,” he remarked, setting her down as he walked further into the village. Kazumi, of course, followed alongside him like a duckling following its mother, her tail swishing happily as she replied.

“I've been learning new stuff, and helping out my neighbor a whole lot. She's teaching me how to grow flowers!!” The viscling swayed rather merrily as she spoke, gripping Alvin's hand with flattened ears.
“Oh, yeah? You got some pretty ones to show me?” he asked, leading her to their favorite oak tree, where they always met.
It was there, of course, where they first met, when Kazumi was just starting to poke out of her home and Alvin was returning from his first mission for the village. She'd been even younger then - just a couple of years - but she was still bubbly and friendly as ever, unafraid to approach him and ask all about what he was doing, who he was, and if he wanted to be her friend.

What kind of guy would he have been if he'd said no?

Kazumi’s happy chirping brought him back to the present, a rather affectionate smile crossing his muzzle as she carried on about her flowers and which ones she'd planted just for him, until suddenly she paused and looked up at him. “Hm-? What is it, kiddo?”
“Um…” Bashfully, she shuffled her feet, glancing down with flattened ears. “...can I wear your scarf?” Alvin grinned at the question, watching her avoid his gaze as if to guilt him into letting her wear it. It wasn't intentional, of course, but the fact that she was doing it anyway - and making it work, nonetheless - was nothing short of precious.
In silent response, Alvin unraveled his scarf from around his neck and knelt before Kazumi, draping it around her neck and watching her wide smile before he plucked her up off of the ground, twirling and letting her sit on his shoulders.
“So, kiddo, wanna hear about my latest mission? It involves a pretty lady~”
“Okay!!”

--

Often, Alvin didn't come around anymore. Memories of Kazumi running about and playing with the mercenary she loved like a father replayed in her mind quite a lot when she thought of the brown male or wondered how he was doing, and only served to make her miss him even more. She was grown now, cresting on eighteen and preparing to move out and make a life of her own -- but not before one last Christmas spent in her village. Christmas was, if anything, one of the only days of the year she got to see Alvin and talk to him without any rush, because it was the one day out of the year that he took off and refused missions no matter the pay or the conditions.
Of course, she didn’t resent him for it; he had to support himself somehow, and if that meant staying away all year, then so be it. As someone ready to leave the nest as well, Kazumi understood well.

“Hey, kid.” His voice alerted her and her ears perked as she turned to face him, smiling softly as his brown and white-furred figure appeared before her underneath the old, aged oak tree resting atop their little secluded hill. “You look older.”
“Do I?” She hesitated before approaching him, putting her arms around him with pinned-back ears. “I missed you.” Alvin grinned and embraced her back, giving the spot between her shoulders a soft pat.

“You too, Kaz. You got those flowers for Presa? You know she loves when you grow those lilies.” Of course, he didn’t have to ask; without a word she turned and picked up the small bag she’d brought, extending it to him--and blinking with surprise as fabric suddenly flew before her face, draping around her neck in an elegant pool of purple and red.
“Ah-?” She looked down as Alvin took the bag, her hands raising to study the scarf now resting at her neck. “Alvin, it’s..”

“You’ve always loved my scarf since you were a little girl, you know. What kind of guy would I be if I didn’t get one for you before you left the nest, huh?” He rubbed the back of his neck with a grin, glancing off to the side while thrilled tears sprang to Kazumi’s eyes.
“Alvin--” She embraced him tightly with her tail swishing, her heart beating with happiness. “Th-thank you, Alvin,” she said softly, grinning up at him with tears still resting in her eyes. “Please tell me you’ll write. I’ll give you my new address once I move in, okay?”

“Of course, Kaz.” A fond smile was spread across his face as he ruffled her hair softly, one ear cocking back. “Don’t grow up too fast, you hear? You’ve got a lot going for you.” He paused, ducking his head for a moment with a low huff. Then, slowly, a smile covered his face again, and he looked up at her softly. “So, want to hear about my last mission?”

Their laughter mixed into the cool winter air, the wispy fragments of their breath sweeping through the old bark of the oak as if to secure one last golden memory.

\\ why i want her

Postby lex » Wed Aug 31, 2016 3:30 pm

why do i want to own kazumi?

when i first saw this viscet's design, i loved it. it's simple — something i incredibly enjoy — and simply pleasing to look at, being one of my favorite color palettes. due to me trying out for other viscets, though, i didn't actively think about joining the competition until recently, and i'm glad i have. the muse didn't come immediately for her character, but when it did, it hit hard. she reminded me a lot of a custom i already had planned — almost frightened me a little, too, because since the designs were so similar, i didn't want others to think i was copying this design. however, that led to a new thought; what if i made them be in a relationship?

this thought was what spurred me into actually joining the competition and now i have a lot of ideas for her. most of my viscets live in rather medieval towns and the like where technology wasn't at it's best, but now i can go in a whole new direction with kazumi and her friends.

so, in short, what made me want to try out? what made me want her? design, muse and trying something new.
