Whirlpool trotted contently behind Brochan, the grullo sabino stallion. The two horses had made their way through the scrubby bush and were content on not getting caught like the rest of their herd. Whirlpool was the sort of horse to take a dream and run with it, same goes for ideas as he knows no boundaries. But Brochan is a sensible and strong willed horse who doesn't like fantasy idea's and can become snappy when someone tells him that unicorns are real.

The stallion pinned his ears when the younger horse started to trot beside him "Single file." he snapped at the younger horse and powered on towards the light of the afternoon sun that had started to go behind the mountains that hung infront of them like walls of rock and trees. To Brochan, the mountains were unbreakable and the spirit of freedom roamed free among the trees and saplings that had managed to grow between the rocks and weeds.
He paused for a minute as he stood at the base of the mountain wall "You ready, water horse?" he asked Whirlpool and received a slight nod of agreement. The stallion searched for a minute before finding the safest track "This way!" he called to the young blue roan who had gone off to get a drink from the stream, as soon as the young horse had joined his side Brochan started up the mountain. With careful steps he started up the track of rocks that seemed to break between the Gum trees and whatever types of tough grass could grow.
It was darker under the trees and the temperature must have dropped at least 3 degrees, the 10 year old moved faster now as he needed to reach the summit before the sun had disappeared. He needed to catch the sun and he was certain that it was just over this mountain "No.....no....no.....don't go!" he muttered fiercely as the sun stole the last bit of light away from him and his travel companion.

Whirlpool stood beside Brochan as the two sabino's stopped half way up the mountain and sighed "Well, lets keep going." he sighed and waited for Brochan started up the hill. "Brochan?" he asked in a concerned tone "I'm never gonna catch the sun." replied Brochan and started walking slowly up the hill "Might as well look for somewhere to sleep." added the grullo as he glanced back at Whirlpool who had started following.
Whirlpool looked down along the stream that glistened as the moonlight started to hit the shallow water and the silver scales of the fish shone. His eyes fell to the ground beneath him as he stumbled over a rock, he breathed slowly as he caught his breath after the fear of falling off the side of the mountain collected in his mind.
The young horse cantered up behind Brochan as the older horse had walked on without him, his adrenaline level was climbing as the walked higher and higher into the scrubby mountain. When stopped to rest and to sleep, Whirlpool stood calmly and listened to the sounds of the Kookaburra's laughing and the Bellbirds singing their maytime songs. As the blue roan's eyes stared to drift to closed and his mind started to wander and the world around him started to slow down he thought "What happens if we actually catch the sun?" and his eyes opened wide.
Quietly the stallion started to move away and up the hill, once he was out of sight he moved into a trot and cleared a fallen log that lay on the track infront of him "I will catch the moon for Brochan if we can't catch the sun."
