Image
This is Devon Smith.
Devon is a bright and bubble young teenager, aged 15.
He has a wild imagination, and because of his crazy
ideas, he can sometimes get in trouble. His pet dog
is named Scott, and he never leaves Devon's side.

Image
This is Sia Evanhyde.
Sia has always been a very open, friendly girl. She is
also 15, and a close friend of Devon's. She adores
reading, and is known to be very intelligent. She
is terrified of heights and crowded places.

Image
This is April Callahan.
April is a rather mean spirited teenager, known
to tease those she deems less than herself. She
is very popular at school, and this is probably
what's boosting her ego. She's 15 too.

Chapter One - School's Out

Devon let out a heavy sigh as he gazed hopefully at the clock. He listened to the rhythmic ticking, wishing the bell would just ring. Being so deep in his thoughts, he didn't notice the teacher talking to him. '' Devon Smith! '' came the angry shout. Devon yelped in surprise. '' S-sorry sir! '' he blurted. The teacher looked at him expectantly. '' What is it, sir..? '' he asked nervously. A giggle could be heard from the back of the class, and a girl raised her paw. The teacher shook his head. '' April... '' he sighed, walking away from Devon's desk and back to his own. April smiled sweetly. '' The answer is thirty-four, I believe. '' she said proudly. '' Correct, '' the teacher nodded, '' If only you paid as much attention. '' he looked towards Devon, who appeared to have shrunk back into his seat. The teacher opened his mouth to speak again, but was cut of the the loud ringing of the bell. Before he could stop them, all the students rose from their desks and scrambled to get out of the door.

Devon slowly rose from his seat. Everyone was gone, apart from their teacher, his best friend Sia, and himself. He shouldered his bag and padded over to the teachers desk, Sia following behind him. '' Uhm... I'm sorry, sir... '' he mumbled, looking embarrassed. The teacher smiled sympathetically. '' It's alright. Just remember to focus in future. '' his voice was friendly but stern. Devon nodded quickly. '' Yes sir! '' he said, before making towards the door, beckoning for Sia to follow. '' Be safe! '' the teacher called, but the two students were already out of the door.

Sia stumbled along behind Devon, who was sprinting down the corridor towards the main doors. '' Wait up! '' she called, struggling to keep up. Devon skidded to a halt. '' Sorry! '' he called, and waited for her to catch up. Sia caught her breath and headed other to him. '' Thanks... '' she breathed, and the two headed out of the door, into the courtyard. There were loads of students hanging round, waiting for their friends. Some were already off enjoying the Summer break. Devon glanced at Sia. '' I gotta go do something real quick. I'll be back in a bit, okay? '' he said, before bounding of towards a group of boys. Sia sighed. '' He never stays still. '' she chuckled, before getting out a book and sitting down to read it. She knew that for Devon, 'quick' usually meant ages.

April was sat by the school doors with a group of girls. She narrowed her eyes, spotting Sia nearby. '' Hmm... '' she studied the girl thoughtfully. '' One moment. '' she smiled at her friends before making her way over to Sia. '' Still buried in that book, Worm? '' she taunted as she approached the girl. Sia looked up. '' Go away, April... '' she sighed impatiently. April frowned. '' I wouldn't say that if I were you. You forget how popular I am. I could just say one tiny thing about you to my friends and it would spread like wildfire. '' she sighed, returning to her sickly sweet smile. Sia muttered something under her breath. '' Just leave me alone... '' she said, a little louder. April tutted. '' Like I said, just one word to my friends and I could ruin your life. '' she said, enjoying how upset Sia was clearly getting. '' How you have friends at all is utterly remarkable. '' Devon said, padding towards the two. April gasped. '' How dare you?! You have no right to- '' she was cut off by Devon's paw running down the front of her face. '' Shhh... '' he said calmly, '' You can talk again when you start speaking a language other than b****. '' April scowled and stormed off, back to her group of friends.

Sia got to her feet. '' You shouldn't be so hard on her... she wasn't doing any harm... '' she wiped her eyes with her sleeve. Devon shook his head. '' You're upset. That's harm enough. '' he sighed. Sia nodded slowly. '' Th-thanks... '' she smiled slightly. Devon smiled back. '' C'mon. There's no point standing around here. We've got the whole Summer holidays ahead of us! I've got something I've been planning for ages. Come round mine, and I'll explain. '' he said quickly, before leading the way out of the courtyard, and down the street, towards his house.
