a/n: I based this off of a piece of fanart I found on my old Pinterest boards. I thought it would make a nice one-shot, or even maybe a full story if I ever get enough motivation, haha. The ship is centered around Sufin, or Sweden x Finland from Hetalia. I'm just trying to improve my writing skills, so any critique is nice.
People bustled hurriedly around the deck, calling out names and rushing to save themselves. They all flocked towards the lifeboats, children or small precious items in tow. Tino pulled Berwald and Peter in the same direction. He pushed forward in the crowd, despite the crewman calling for women and children only. Because if they can just slip past, then maybe - just maybe- they can all get out safely, and move into that cute little townhouse in New York. And Peter would attend that wonderful private school across the street and-
Tino was pulled to an abrupt stop. He looked up at Berwald, who held him by the elbow. In his cobalt colored eyes, there was a flash of emotions, gone so quickly that Tino could hardly register them. Berwald pushed Peter towards Tino, but still kept them in his warm grasp.
“Tino, take Peter to the lifeboats.” he mumbled out in his strong accent. With all the screaming around, Tino could hardly hear him, and desperately hoped he heard wrong.
“W-what? No! We can’t leave without you!” Tino whined, and held Berwald’s sleeve in an iron grip. He was shaking now, his voice weak and tears staining his face. There was a small lift in the corner of Berwald’s cheeks, and Tino knew he was trying to be strong. Berwald turned for a split second, and came back around with a large floppy hat. Tino had no time to question him before it was plopped onto his blonde head, and covered most of his face. Berwald gazed up at the crewman, standing up away from the bustling passengers, his pistol drawn to prevent any trouble.
“Sir! I have a first class mother and child! They need a lifeboat!” He barked out, and the crewman looked them over, then an unfamiliar pair of hands began pulling them into the boat.
“Ber, please-”
“No, Tino. Keep Peter safe. I love you both, please never forget that.” Berwald gazed lovingly into Tino’s eyes, and rubbed Peter’s cheek.
“Mama, why isn’t Papa joining us?” Peter cried, shaking Tino’s arm, but Berwald’s voice caused him to freeze.
“Let go of me, Peter. Stay with your mama. I love you.” he stated calmly, and then the lifeboats started to lower. Both Tino and Peter stared up at Berwald as they were lowered into the deathly cold Atlantic waters. Berwald disappeared from view, and all they could see were the faint white letters spelling “Titanic”.
