Personality:

Determined - Sad - Loyal - Honest - Nostalgic/Looks back into the past too often

Data is a determined gator who feels lost in the world. His power of time has left him deaf and without anyone; everyone who he knew can't remember him. Despite this, he isn't bitter about it, but is rather cooped up in a shell of hidden sadness. He doesn't like to show that something is wrong, but when he is nudged, his troubles will often show. He hates his job, but knows that if he were to lose his time element, he were to be blind. So he continues his job without question.
When he is faced with a tough challenge, he would rather be counted as a coward for not going forth with it than being called a hero for something he never wanted to do; He is honest about things as he hates being lied to, he believes in the honesty policy and is grateful for those who are honest back. He is a loyal companion to those he trusts and will do anything in order to keep them safe, even if it means his own demise or misery.
Data often looks back as his past life for comfort or answers as he has nothing, and no one, really to go to. He is still deeply upset about the outcome of his past life, but he's just glad that those he knew are still alive and well. He looks back on things without even knowing and sometimes gets bothered by it, sometimes he just wishes he could just shut off his brain and take a good nap without dreams of familiar faces and events.

Sight, Hearing & Occupation//

Sight:
Despite Data's good precision he's actually blind, but thanks to his power he can see;
Data can see things through the power of time; objects and things become visible as semi faded visions, their steps and movements are seen as they fade away into their new position. Light is reflected through Data's eyes allowing for the affect of color and imagery as time passes. If time were to never stop, then so would his ability to see. Standing in between time and the outer existence to nothingness causes his eyesight to go crazed; all he can see is garbled colors and faint imagery of people whose movement managed to be caught up to eons ago.
So all in all, he cannot see things that are completely still; things that do not breath and are completely stopped and even furniture in dark places.

---

Hearing:
Data was not born deaf, his ears were affected due to constant time travel and were filled with fur. He used to have extremely good hearing, but now he cannot hear a thing unless the sound is coming from inside his head, such as thoughts. The clock around his neck is connected to his mind in a way, it gives out loud beeps that travel through the gator's body and into his mind where he is alarmed of his next mission.

---

Occupation:
Data works for time; his job is to locate those who have misused the laws of time and punish them. A hard and treacherous task that takes great patience and precise precision. He is given authority to travel between universes to dimensions in order to apprehend the instigator. He is then responsible to bring them back to time where they are handed off to be dealt with.

"So? The clouds could actually be people?"
"No, what a silly thing to ask. They could be a way for people to travel, but not people themselves."
"Aha, I see."
☾ ☽

The night was still young and Data had just finished his latest task; capturing a fugitive from demension #76. Tired, he entered his apartment and sighed, "Why am I stuck doing this?" He asked himself as he flopped onto his couch. He never asked to do this, but it did offer him a chance at sight. Rolling over he looked up at the ceiling and imagined a world where he had his friends, his family; a place where they all remembered him. Especially Val. Remembering her made his heart hurt, she didn't know who he was, not even after everything they've done together. Hot tears rolled down his cheeks and he turned over to face the back of the couch. He was alone.
Morning came but so did the clouds, they covered the sky with their intruding sadness; the darkness made the world look menacing beyond Data's window. He sat by himself at a small table by the window in the apartment's tiny excuse for a living area, he ate cereal as he thought about his previous life.
☾ ☽

"Rab!" Val called through the back door of the little bungalow the two of them shared, Rab looked over at her and smiled, after the surgery to correct his eyesight he could see his girlfriend almost perfectly. Rising from the wooden swing he walked to her and laughed, "Yeah, babe?" Val lifted an eyebrow and smirked at him, "What do you think you're doing out here? You know the doctor said to only leave the house if I'm with you." Rab's eyes lit up playfully as he grabbed his girlfriend's hands, "Yeah, well now you are!" He spun her around and laughed until the two fell to the ground. Reaching his hand to her he smiled, "I would've never guessed you would have been so beautiful. In fact, you're so beautiful that my brain couldn't even begin to imagine anyone as adorable." Val smiled before giving him a kiss. "You're such a dork." She said placing her hand on his face, Rab snorted before licking her hand, the two of them laughing once more.
Clouds blocked the sun and it began to rain, Val turned her head towards Rab and opened her mouth to speak, but the sounds of alarms escaped her lips.
☾ ☽

Data shot up and looked around frantically for the sound of the beeping, his body sweaty from the sudden alarm. He quickly realized the sound was coming from him; the blue clock he wore around his neck. Air escaped his lips as he pressed the nob on the side, silencing the sound. "This being the only sound I can hear makes being deaf suck even more." He grumbled as he rose up from his chair and snapped, a large wooden door appeared in front of him and he entered, closing the door behind him. Once he entered, Time gave him a task; Find fugitive #438 from universe #42B, also know as fugitive B#46. As he opened the door to the current realm of the villain's whereabouts, he couldn't help but think back to his previous task handling a fugitive from universe #42B.

Hot breaths escaped Rab's lips as he bounded through the tall, thick trees. He looked frantically for the fugitive, "I can't believe you lost him!" He growled to himself as he jumped down from the branches and to the soft soil where he began to run once more. His lungs burned as they tried to capture more air, this slowed the gator down to a walk; gasping he listened closely to the world around him, his own heart beat blocked out little details. Enraged, he stopped and waited for his breathes to become less frequent. Taking the clock in his hand he glanced at the handles, still the same position. "At least the guy's still here." He muttered as he looked around at the dark leaves that surrounded him.

Time passed slowly as he walked through the darkness, his eyesight providing no help as it seemed little to no things moved within the night. As he walked, he began to realize his hearing wasn't picking up anything either, which was incredibly strange knowing how sensitive his hearing usually was. His face scrunched up from sudden concern, but it quickly relaxed as he assured himself it was nothing but the atmosphere of the new world messing with his ears. continuing he found himself in front of a large, stone structure, the movement of the wind hitting it outlined some important pieces in Rab's eyesight. It was a statue. A statue of a creature he had never seen before, a deity of the land most likely. He bowed to pay his respect and continued on his journey.
Tree after tree was all that passed the gator by as he walked, nothing seemed to be alive, moving. Breathing. Where was the fugitive? Had he gotten himself lost? As he questioned the ground he stood on, Rab could hear the crisp leaves crackling loudly behind him, as he turned to face the sound he found he hadn't been quick enough; a figure, darkened by the overhang of the trees, pounced at the gator and jammed something sharp into his neck. Stunned by what had happened, Rab grabbed the threat by the throat and turned the handles on the clock to twelve sharp, fazing them through the universe and into the Time Hall where Time was waiting. Rab, however, had passed out right as they entered so he had no clue of where the fugitive, he later found out, was sent to.

As he came to, Rab found himself glaring up at bright lights. Looking groggily around he saw a figure manifest into view, pink but dull it started to shift into a gator; Val. A smile formed on his lips as the lights seemed to diminish, his girlfriend's presence becoming more solid. The pink gator's expression spoke worry and Rab sat up in hesitation, Val opened her mouth and began to speak, but nothing seemed to come out. Rab furrowed his brow as his lover tried speaking again and again, but not a sound came out. "Had she gone mute?' He asked himself as he tried to make out anything. Then it dawned on him. She wasn't mute. The dark gator listened beyond the other in the room but could hear nothing. Shooting up in fear, he grabbed Val's shoulders and spoke... But nothing came out. He had gone deaf.

Deafening// II

Postby Evils » Thu Jun 30, 2016 2:30 am

Tears formed in the gator's eyes as he wrapped his arms around his girlfriend, how had this happened? He thought and thought and thought; "The syringe." It must have been the syringe. But how? It didn't matter then, all he wanted was comfort so he lay slumped on Val, his arms around her. He felt defeated, worthless now since his hearing was everything that made him a good time worker. Now he was *in a sense* blind... And deaf.

Days passed and no word from the Time master... No word from anyone. Rab stood in front of his bathroom mirror as he examined the fluff that now encased his ears. During the days of silence, he had time to think of what had happened; The fugitive must have gotten a mutated elixir and put it into the syringe, knowing that the serum would cause Rab to go deaf by traveling through time. He didn't know that such a thing could even be possible, but being the victim of it, he knew that somehow it was. Leaving the bathroom he walked to Val and gave her a kiss, he wrote on a paper that he'd be back, that he was going to learn either sign language or how to read lips. With this, he exited the house and began his journey to communication once more.

It took years for Rab to learn all that he needed to know about sign language, well, American Sign Language. Once he had learned the basics, he and Val practiced it together every morning, evening, night, heck. Whenever they could as the both of them couldn't stand the silence between them.

☾ ☽

Reality set in and Data realized he was still standing in the door frame of the dimension. "I... I can't do this. Not again." He said to the best of his abilities before turning to face Time. "I'm sorry, sir, but you are going to need to find someone else to do this job." He signed, waiting for the disappointment to be put down upon him. "I understand. I will get a close time helper to take on your task." Surprise shot through the gator's body, he actually wasn't mad? He looked at Time and gave a weak smile before giving a nod and twisting the little nob on his clock, sending him to his apartment. Time had not passed, it was still morning and the clouds were still pressing in, threatening rain. A small spark of light ignited in his heart as he thought about rain; Val loved to sit out on the front porch with him as the two watched frogs hop across the wet grass. Smiling, he walked quickly into his kitchen to suggest the idea, but soon found himself standing alone on the tile floor. He was still alone, nothing had changed. Tired, he spent his day doing nothing. he didn't want to think of life, but that was all that he could do; He lay on his couch and stared up at the ceiling, images of his past played within his mind, thought they seemed projected on the white plaster above.

As he thought, he realized that this was actually his chance to show that he still loved Val, that he actually knew her and that she actually, in one point of time, knew him. Hopping up from his couch he ran to his front door and paused, then turned around quickly and to his room where he dragged an old photo album out from under his bed. He grabbed a backpack from his closet and placed the book within it, he then walked out of the room and exited his apartment. Once he made it to the curb he realized he had forgotten an umbrella, but he didn't care, all he wanted was to be back with Val. He waited semi-impatiently for the bus to arrive, the clouds blackened the sky above, making the windy afternoon look like a dark, threatening night.

Hours passed and still no sign of the bus, Data was becoming impatient; worried as he fidgeted with the straps on the backpack. "Come on, bus." He thought to himself as he rocked on his toes. He looked around the darkened town, surprised that no cars seemed to be out, the inhabitants of the area must have been afraid of the storm. A look of slight anger grew of the gator's face as he realized. They must be afraid of the storm. He slapped his palm to his face in anger before running down the street, "No one's out because of how bad the storm is going to be, stupid." He growled to himself as he ran to the metro station a few blocks away. A huge sign chained to the front of the entrance stopped him in his path.

"Do not enter. This area has been temporarily shut down due to severe weather and possible flooding. With this sign in action, we advise you to head home, or to the nearest sheltered location, and prepare for the storm."

Reading this made the gator hesitant to continue his journey, but a stubbornness yanked at his heart and he walked away from the station, lost in thought of how he were to exit the city.

Travel// III

Postby Evils » Thu Jun 30, 2016 4:00 am

Data walked slowly as the wind blew increasingly harder with every minute, he tried to think of a way to Val's town without using a short cut; a door made by Time. He wanted to travel the journey to show how much meeting her again meant to him, that he was willing to undergo this sacrifice to be with her once more. As he walked, rain began to drizzle down softly, worried, the gator looked around for anything that could help him. He paused when he saw a bike leaned against a building, walking closer he realized it was a moped, the keys still in the ignition. An ugly temptation swarmed his body as he looked around frantically for the owner, no one seemed to be near by, they must have left the keys trying to make it inside. Looking back down at the vehicle he could feel his heart sink; how else was he supposed to get to her? Grabbing the bike by the handles, he glanced around once more before swiftly getting on and driving off. He was now a thief.

Driving through the horrendous rainfall with out a helmet was terrifying. Every little rock sparked up new movement within the gator's eyes, displaying images that weren't there only moments before; the rain was messing with his eyesight and he could tell. He couldn't stop now, no. He needed to get to Val, he didn't know why in such a rush, but it felt as though he wouldn't ever be able to see her again if he didn't see her by the end of the day. As he drove his heart grew tense with anxiety, what if this road wasn't the one to her town? The thought flooded his mind, trying to brush it away he assured himself this was the correct way since it was the road from which he came from when entering the city.

After a few seemingly never ending hours, Data made it to the town. Most of the small buildings had their lights on, lighting up the muddy path to the worn out street. He was almost there. Driving a few more feet, he examined the homes that lined the awkwardly made road, they looked comfy and welcoming. He sighed as he thought about his old home, a home that both he and Val used to share, the one that now only Val owned. Glancing at the homes he looked for the old but cared for structure of the 50's styled bungalow. Soon he found himself in the yard of Val's home. His home. Twisting the key off he hopped off the moped and walked up to the front door. Heart racing he knocked on the door, minutes passed and nobody answered, seeing the lights were on he tried again. Still no answer, assuming he wasn't knocking hard enough, he gave the door a hard knock.

Before he could knock again, the door swung open; Val stood in the door way, her fur messy from not brushing it, her mouth moved angrily but Data could not hear a thing. Seeing how upset she was, he assumed she must have been calling at the door as he continued knocking. Embarrassment swept over the dark gator as he sunk back, his cheeks growing hot. "I can't hear you." He signed and Val stopped, she looked him in the eyes, obviously confused. "Who are you and what do you want?" She signed back, her face threatening. Taking in a deep breath Data signed, "it's really confusing to explain, but, you know me and I know you-" Before he could say any more he was cut off. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. I do NOT know you. What makes you think you can come to my house and claim to know me?" Startled, Data hesitated to answer, but he was determined to prove that she knew him. "I have a photo album." He assured as he patted the bag on his back. "It's from when we used to know each other... Before I messed everything up." The glare from the pink gator's eyes showed curiosity rising within. "Fine. Show me your proof, but then you'll have to get out." she stepped aside and let the deaf gator inside as not to get his photos wet.

Realization// IV

Postby Evils » Thu Jun 30, 2016 10:23 am

Bringing himself to the bar in the kitchen, he took off his bag and carefully took out the photo album, opening it to let Val see. Looking to her he was surprised to see how shocked she was. "Y- How?" She said, the only words Data seemed to read off her lips. As she looked at him, Data began to explain, his hands moving steadily to make sure his previous companion could understand everything.

"I know this is going to sound weird, but I hope looking at the pictures shows it isn't as far fetched as it seems." He paused, trying to think of where to start, after a short moment, he decided he'd just tell her whatever way it'd come out. "You and I used to date, your name is Valery but I used to call you Val. We used to share this house, you'd help me around before my surgery to correct my eyesight but even when we thought it was fixed, you'd still keep me from running into things I couldn't see. We used to go out and sit on the front porch on days like these, we'd just sit and listen to the rain as the toads and frogs hopped around the grass. Everything used to be so happy for the both of us, trust me..." He paused to look at Val, her face was in even more shock than before. Continuing, Data moved his hands. "My name is Rab... Well, was, but you can still call me by that. I used to work as a movie usher once my eyesight was corrected, I'd sneak you in a free ticket every once in a while and we'd watch movies together on the way top or even sometimes alone when the theatre was supposed to be closed... I suppose I should probably tell you how this happened; how you don't remember me." Taking in a deep breath he began.

"I have the power to use time. With this, I work for the master of time whom I just simply call, Time. I have the ability to travel through dimensions thanks to this watch he gave me." He slightly lifted up the clock hanging around his neck.

"One day I was taking on a task of capturing a fugitive from a distant universe. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. As I chased them through dimension after dimension, they managed to enter this one. I was terrified what they would do so I followed closely behind, trying to get to them before they could cause any damage. I honestly though once I caught up to them I had gotten them, but it turned out this fugitive was a decoy... The real one had set it up to confuse me and being as dull as I was I fell for it. Frantic, I examined everything I could; Every door in this dimension I looked through. Then I found them. They had gotten to the only thing that mattered to me... You. They threatened to kill you but I convinced them there was no way they could as I had a way to get you back. A stupid thing to do on my part, but I thought I was protecting you. Then he threatened to stick you in between universes, something I knew I couldn't get you out of as you'd be non existent in that state. I was stuck, I had no idea what to do, the only way to save you then was if I broke time's own rules and erased the fugitive from existence so they'd have no choice of ever coming back. So that's what I did. I grabbed up their first door and destroyed it, but the consequences came with it. Once I entered my universe to tell you it was all ok, everything seemed different. Scared I walked up to the house but noticed you didn't even seem to realize I was ever alive. Our pictures weren't in the house, and the matching flamingos we bought weren't in the front yard. I had saved you at the cost of our relationship... I hadn't come to tell you until now because I thought you'd be better off without me, but as the years passed, I finally realized that I can't live with out you, Val. I still love you and I want you to know that."

Tears began to fill the gator's eyes as he looked up, he was surprised to see Val was tearing up as well. Her hands moved slowly as she spoke to him, "I don't know what to say. I mean, I wouldn't believe you, but, these pictures actually look familiar..." She paused briefly before continuing, "Do you mind if we talk outside..? On the front porch?" A smile grew faintly on Data's lips as he nodded, walking around the bar to follow the pink gator outside. Once they walked out onto the wet wood, they both sat on the edge, their legs hanging loosely over the uneven ground. They sat rather close so they could see each others hands move underneath the dim light hanging on the overhang above. "There's something about you that makes me feel... Comforted." Val began, her hands moving calmly. "I've always kind of liked sitting out here on the front porch alone, I felt kind of lonely so I never really did it much... But now I know why." She gave slight smile that made Data's heart feel like melting, all he could do was smile back as he placed a hand on hers.

"You know how the clouds gather together on days like these," The dark gator stated, his voice slightly muffled as he tried to speak. "I believe they come together to cry." Val lifted her hand out from underneath his, "Why do you say that?" She asked, her multicolored eyes glinting faintly in the light. Looking out into the rain Data replied, his hands moving carefully so the other gator could see, "I say that because the clouds are like the barriers between dimensions. They hold priceless amounts of hidden doors for those with enough curious wonder to find; To open and explore and to be free from their troubles. But when they gather to cry, they do it out of happiness that one they know has found love or a friend, or out of sadness when hard times plague the curious." Looking at his companion he continued, "I believe today it's for both." He smiled, tears rolling down his cheeks. "I am so glad to have you back." He said to the best of his ability, his smile trembling as he tried not to cry.

Val scooted closer to the upset gator and placed a hand on his shoulder, she opened her mouth to talk but was cut off as Data hugged her, clinging onto her jacket. Not wanting to ruin the moment for him, she wrapped her arms around him and cried as she thought of what her life could have been like.

Hours passed and the rain continued to pour. "So? The clouds could actually be people?" Val asked as she looked at Data who smiled in response, "No, what a silly thing to ask. They could be a way for people to travel, but not people themselves." He said as he held her hand. Giving off a small laugh, Val replied, "Aha, I see."
