xxxxxxxyou've probably never thought of it before, but your body seems to know when you're hopelessly and utterly lost. weariness takes over and you feel like you're carrying a thousand pounds on your back. tears of frustration spring to your eyes as your mind screams one thing, over and over - "will i ever be found?"
xxxxxxxthat was the only feeling that the black dragon could comprehend. anger no longer subsided inside her for being kicked out of the light clan that she thought she could call home. bitterness still rest inside her soul, eating away at her thoughts. she had done nothing wrong. hera practically scowled at the thought. she laid down, head resting on her talons. she'd only borrowed something - the clan matriarch's grand pearl. hera never realized how much pearlcatchers really depended on the shiny jewel-like thing. the ridgeback took it for a second, admiring its beauty before another dragon screeched a warning to their matriarch. hera was fairly new to the clan. she'd been wandering for days on end, clan-less until the light clan found her. of course they wouldn't trust her. she was the only ridgeback in the clan. she'd been there for a week.
xxxxxxxshe should've seen the exile coming.
xxxxxxxhera's long tail scuffed up the ground, dust blowing up into the air. she told the clan she'd be out of light territory by now. in the distance, she saw the shifting expanse, dark thunder clouds roaming across the sky. random thunder bolts struck the ground, tearing up the dirt and leaving scars behind. she didn't want to go there. she'd almost been exalted to stormcatcher, once. her talons clenched, and she slammed a large fist into the ground. life wasn't fair. she had faced near exaltation, been exiled out of her clans... twice. her light blue eyes narrowed. maybe she didn't belong with other dragons. maybe she just had to live alone.
xxxxxxxthe female dragon got up, tail low to the ground, leaving a trail behind her.
