• A New Generation •

Amber eyes gleamed in excitement as they peered out of a small shrub. A small brown and white tabby she-kit crouched low against the dusty ground, licking any twigs, leaves or dirt out of her bushy tail before she was thrown to the ground by a larger kit. Squeals of distress came from the kit as paws were placed on her back, pinning the light brown she-kit down. "Mom, Briarkit is hurting me again!" Her green eyes glinted in annoyance as the attacker grinned, quite proud of himself. Both the kits glanced up as a familiar voice spoke to them. "Briarkit! Get off Honeykit." Irritated amber eyes fixed onto the two kits as a stern voice scolded the larger tom. A tabby queen approached the pair, and her gaze softened in warmth at the sight of the playful kittens. She reached over, dragging the brown tabby tomkit with amber eyes by the scruff, setting him down between her paws before quickly smoothing down his fur, cleaning off any traces of dust, mud or moss from his short pelt. Despite Briarkit's protests, the she-cat continued washing his pelt, a glint of amusement in her amber eyes as she looked down at the precious kit. Once finished grooming Briarkit's fur, the brown tabby then leant over and began licking the light brown she-kit's fur, trying her best to ignore the mischievous tomkit as he crouched down low into a wobbly position, preparing to pounce onto the queen's tail as the tip twitched back and forth. Once finished, the older feline purred, her eyes glistening in pride for the two precious bundles settled around her. She suddenly stood up at once, the fur on the back on her neck rising. The queen whipped around and glared at Briarkit, eyes clouded. "Where's your brother?" In reply, the tabby shrugged, his whiskers twitching. Her eyes widened and she quickly meowed a hushed order to her two kits, before dashing off out of the nursery.
