So, I'm making this roleplay but it gave me a really good idea to write a book/story on and it's basically this: A bunch of scientists nationwide take kids from all over the place from orphanages and mutate them into animal shape shifters and eventually they succeed. The kids start planning a rebellion over the course of 5-6 years and escape but are then constantly being hunted down by the scientists. I was told this was too close to XMEN and Animorphs, so what do you think because I know nothing about either of them.

in xmen they are born mutated, so similar but every story has it's own unique twists and turns so you never know until you get their.

It also has a hint of the Max Ride series. Personally I think you need to make it more unique. This sounds like two role plays I set up. (They were about shapeshiting people living among us and their continual hunt by others).
