neve's life chapter one

Postby satuurnity » Sat Feb 20, 2016 12:24 pm

The thunder cracked and smashed outside the house, lifting trees and hurling rain down onto the world, making worse an already troublesome birth. The family of kiamaras who were eagerly awaiting the new arrivals in the next room, shuck every time the lighting struck. In an attempt to calm everyone down, Adaline had baked her famous brownies, and was trying her best not to throw them in the faces of others as she too hopped and emitted tiny squealing noises as electricity touched the earth.
Zaira yowled as her first twin was born, and smiled at him before returning to the clutches of agony. The father - Arakeel - took a hold of his new born baby boy and began to cradle him, rocking backwards and forth trying to shush the quiet yet horrendous caterwauling, which he could see was agitating the child's mother.
Oddly enough though, the storm seemed to be moving away for the arrival of twin number two. As Arakeel glanced out of the curtains he caught sight of miniscule, shimmering stars reflected in the puddles that were being abandoned by the weather. And then out of nowhere, the birthing was over. The couple had two, lovely babies, one boy and one girl. The boy was a beautiful mix of purples and blues, and he had so much hair! It was all frizzy and black, and was so reminiscent of the mane of a lion, he was dubbed Aslan. The girl was black and blue and white and green and all in all gorgeous, with the eyes of her mother and the locks of her father. She was named Neve, a name close to Arakeel's heart. There was, however, something strange about Neve; a golden glow surrounded her paws, full of tiny stars and stardust. Zaira's power had been inherited.

The next day, the weather had completely transformed and summer appeared to have arrived with the two children. A golden sun emitted powerful rays of a friendly heat; this family of kiamaras (distant family, too) had never felt so close to one another, and probably wouldn't again for a while.
Light felt its way in through the window (which had been left a jar) and filled the dining room with a brilliant yellow. Muzzles beamed with joy all the way down the wooden table as each kiamara inhaled the wonderful scent of a fresh Sunday dinner, eagerly awaiting the taste of freshly cooked turkey and delicious home-brewed cider. A blue-green paw reached out to take a leg of turkey from the plate in front of Kieran and place it into his almost drooling mouth, but just before it reached it's final destination the succulent meat clattered back atop the white porcelain plate, strewn there by Alesse, who's green gaze led back to the top of the table. Arakeel and Zaira, it appeared, had been waiting to speak.

The male of the pair opened his mouth, ready to thank everyone for joining them, when he was cut off by his partner. Arakeel rolled his eyes, obviously annoyed, but let Zaira continue.
"Umm, well. We realise it's not at all easy, to get the whole of this family in one place, and much less get along with each other, so we want to thank you all for coming to celebrate the birth of out beautiful new twins, Aslan and Neve. So, now we're all in one place, let's eat." As she spoke, Zaira began to raise stars from thin air and float them above where the rest of the family were seated. The parents went to place themselves next to their daughter and began to tuck in, when Lucifer perked up.
"But we're not all here, are we?" he raised an angered eyebrow. Under the table he received a light kick in the thighs from Kaji. "Lucifer, shhh," she whispered urgently, but her warning was ignored.
"No, I won't SHHHH!" He started, raising his voice and standing bolt upright. This in turn, sent the food from his plate flying across the floor, ruining the hard work of Adaline who had spent all day slaving away in the kitchen. "Well, there goes the prospect of 'getting along'," she huffed, putting her head against the wood of the table.

Now Zaira stood up - not quite as violently - just enough to make her plate rattle. "Don't you DARE mention her name in MY HOUSE," her voice bellowed, trailing off at the end in a sort of hiss, almost goading Lucifer to say it. From the more docile members of the group you could hear various whispers of "oh dear," and "here we go again,". It could be gathered that this sort of thing was a regular occurrence.

A short silence followed as an irate gaze met an insistent one suppressing a smirk. The two pairs of eyes followed each other back to a seating position, and just as Zaira was about to put the whole thing behind her and ask her eldest daughter to pass the gravy, Lucifer shot up and yelled,
"ANORA IS NOT HERE!" .

And then the doors of hell opened, making way for Zaira who lunged at her youngest nephew. This time the meal was completely destroyed. The turkey was sent five foot up into the air, the gravy splattered the walls and a mush of all things that were once on the table were now mixed up on the floor. Knowingly, Adaline picked up the last surviving leg of meat and carried it off to another room, presumably to be eaten in peace. Kieran just watched his brother and sighed; 'why must he cause trouble?' the older brother thought. Eluvian's eyes widened as she shrunk down to eye level with the table, watching carefully from below.

Meanwhile at the end of the room the twins observed their family, bewildered. It seemed Aslan did not know whether to laugh or cry. His jaw quivered and was emitting tiny squealing sounds, but his eyes were wide and somewhat excited. Neve, on the other hand, was more focused on the single remaining star above the table. It hovered mid air, just between a yowling Arakeel and an enraged Taicho, who was now arguing with his son. The star's light was dimming, which displeased the little kiamara. In her baby blue basinet, at the bottom of the room, a place which the whole family now seemed oblivious too, she began to create a wondrous sight, too amazing for her little mind to take right now. The light grew and grew surrounding her, with more tiny stars popping up every second, until eventually the small sight burst into a spectacle engulfing the room.

neve's life chapter two

Postby satuurnity » Sun Feb 21, 2016 9:04 am

A few days following the incident in the kitchen, the five were alone again. As to be expected, the rest of the family had departed post haste after the disagreement about Anora and the rest, not helped at all by the spectacle produced by Neve, who was none the wiser. The little kiamara was playing in her pen in the living room with her elder brother and father when the next episode occurred. It came as quite a shock to Aslan and Arakeel, who were busily constructing a tower of 'play-bricks'. To have their defences toppled by a few bijou stars was unexpected and certainly out of the ordinary for Arakeel. The blinding light wasn't quite as powerful as the spectacle previously produced in the kitchen, but it wasn't exactly dim, either. Hues of yellows and oranges reflected off of the shiny brown floor boards, and bounced through into the kitchen where Zaira was attempting to perfect a non-alcoholic, peach beverage for Tranquillity's tropical party night. A pale drink turned bright, and the glass shone like a beautiful sunset. It looked perfectly delicious in every way - the colours, the light bubbling, the fruit topping. Scrumptious!

Image
Purple eyes grew wide with glee as Zaira shot into the living room.
"You're a genius!" she exclaimed, picking up her daughter and holding her high in the air, before pulling her baby into an appreciative hug. "We'll use stars....". then she plopped Neve into the arms of her stunned mate, before hurtling off back into the kitchen to reinvent the drink. Arakeel raised a confused eyebrow at his daughter, attempting to hold back a smile before telling her- "Those cute little starry, well, things won't help you in the future," he said. Neve sneezed. An even tinier star then bumped into Arakeel's nose, and fizzled away into nothing. "Actually, that's quite hot..." the kiamara remarked, before shaking his head of the battle tactics forming in his mind and returning to his children. He sat Neve next to her brother, Aslan, and began showing the pair how to improve their currently feeble play-brick defences.

personality

Postby satuurnity » Sun Feb 21, 2016 9:44 am

scientist wrote:// to find out the personality of the subject (name - neve)
we had her take the 16 personality online test
// the results of the test are found below
// this is followed by more in depth answers by neve, and more a more defined personality
// we believe evidence here will be deemed useful in times approaching
--synopsis end--

Neve is of the ISTP-T personality type, or Virtuoso.
The personality machine (16 personality) describes thus:

"ISTPs love to explore with their hands and their eyes, touching and examining the world around them with cool rationalism and spirited curiosity. People with this personality type are natural Makers, moving from project to project, building the useful and the superfluous for the fun of it, and learning from their environment as they go. Often mechanics and engineers, ISTPs find no greater joy than in getting their hands dirty pulling things apart and putting them back together, just a little bit better than they were before. ISTPs explore ideas through creating, troubleshooting, trial and error and first-hand experience. They enjoy having other people take an interest in their projects and sometimes don't even mind them getting into their space. Of course, that's on the condition that those people don't interfere with ISTPs' principles and freedom, and they'll need to be open to ISTPs returning the interest in kind.

ISTPs enjoy lending a hand and sharing their experience, especially with the people they care about, and it's a shame they're so uncommon, making up only about five percent of the population. ISTP women are especially rare, and the typical gender roles that society tends to expect can be a poor fit – they'll often be seen as tomboys from a young age. While their mechanical tendencies can make them appear simple at a glance, ISTPs are actually quite enigmatic. Friendly but very private, calm but suddenly spontaneous, extremely curious but unable to stay focused on formal studies, ISTP personalities can be a challenge to predict, even by their friends and loved ones. ISTPs can seem very loyal and steady for a while, but they tend to build up a store of impulsive energy that explodes without warning, taking their interests in bold new directions. ISTPs' decisions stem from a sense of practical realism, and at their heart is a strong sense of direct fairness, a "do unto others" attitude, which really helps to explain many of ISTPs' puzzling traits. Instead of being overly cautious though, avoiding stepping on toes in order to avoid having their toes stepped on, ISTPs are likely to go too far, accepting likewise retaliation, good or bad, as fair play.

The biggest issue ISTPs are likely to face is that they often act too soon, taking for granted their permissive nature and assuming that others are the same. They'll be the first to tell an insensitive joke, get overly involved in someone else's project, roughhouse and play around, or suddenly change their plans because something more interesting came up. ISTPs will come to learn that many other personality types have much more firmly drawn lines on rules and acceptable behavior than they do – they don't want to hear an insensitive joke, and certainly wouldn't tell one back, and they wouldn't want to engage in horseplay, even with a willing party. If a situation is already emotionally charged, violating these boundaries can backfire tremendously.

ISTPs have a particular difficulty in predicting emotions, but this is just a natural extension of their fairness, given how difficult it is to gauge ISTPs' emotions and motivations. However, their tendency to explore their relationships through their actions rather than through empathy can lead to some very frustrating situations. People with the ISTP personality type struggle with boundaries and guidelines, preferring the freedom to move about and color outside the lines if they need to. Finding an environment where they can work with good friends who understand their style and unpredictability, combining their creativity, sense of humor and hands-on approach to build practical solutions and things, will give ISTPs many happy years of building useful boxes – and admiring them from the outside. "
scientist wrote:// next, we asked some of our workers to observe neve for one week of her normal life, without her knowledge. we assigned them each a trait to learn about, and they each reported to us with their findings. we now have several detailed reports on neve's individual personality traits, as well as photographs from the various emotional optimums.

optimistic- Always the optimist, Neve is never one to be disheartened by any bad situation. It seems she always looks for a positive solution, and doesn't give up easily. For example, whilst observing her this week I witnessed an incident where she foolishly left her wallet in the coffee shop on her way back to Tranquillity. However, not wanting to let her parents down, she pulled her sketchpad from her bag, and began making paid portraits of people until she had what appeared to be most of the money back.

practical- It appears Neve is a very hands on, hard working kiamara, always willing to get her hands dirty. From what I have seen she enjoys crafting things from scratch and doodling whacky inventions. Although her file denotes her dream is to become a tattoo artist, I wouldn't be surprised if she realised that her hobby can also be a job, and became a mechanic or even an engineer.

spontaneous- A girl for surprises, Neve seems to have a spontaneous outlook on life. After a week watching her I have come to the conclusion that she loves to live life on the edge, doing things randomly and in no organised manor, simply so that every day is not the same. Also, I have added to the file that this spontaneity seems to lead to kindness in many circumstances - for example, on the third day Neve bought some flowers, and passed them to a sobbing kiamara in the middle of the park, saying nothing and smiling weakly before walking away.

easily bored- Neve seems one to easily succumb to boredom, a plague that befalls us all at least once a week. If she is not creating, or helping or doing anything in some way she will forget about things she could be doing, and start dwelling on the fact that she isn't.

reserved- It does not seem like Neve would be the easiest of kiamaras to befriend or get to know. Even though her outer shell is quite loud and talkative, you never really learn much about her. This may be because of her powers and the fact that she doesn't want to let slip that she is in any way different, or, she may be true to her introverted personality type.

stubborn- When she has her mind set on something, she will do it. Neve appears to not like changing her mind, or will be insistent that she if right. For example, when arguing (via Skype) with Aluni over whom should book the hotel for their trip to Africa (an 'educational', secret holiday, of course), Neve was very insistent. She was quick to disagree with Aluni, and circled back to why she was right immediately.

relationships

ZAIRA - MUM - (*^o^*) Neve has a brilliant relationship with her loving mother, Zaira. They spend a lot of time with each other, and are in effect, best friends as well as mother and daughter. They work in the same place, eat in the same place, more or less live in the same place - they are the perfect duo. Well, there is the matter of all Neve's secrets, including a certain love affair with Aluni, but she prefers to class this as not telling the truth rather than lying. Because, as much as she cares about her mother, Neve finds that Zaira is sometimes a little overprotective and controlling. If she knew about anything she would most definitely cut off internet access and restrict the poor kiamara to her bedroom. For an eighteen year old, having a parent like this isn't the best thing in the world. Also, asking her daughter to continue her job at tranquillity rather than following her 'unconventional dream' of being a tattoo artist didn't exactly help their relationship (although it didn't damage it either). Overall, Neve would describe her mother as "an awesome mum, really generous and kind, but a little too shielding (sometimes bad and sometimes good) and sometimes (well, quite often) very patronising."

ARAKEEL - FATHER - (*^o^*) Even more so than with her mother, Neve blossoms in the company of her father. Maybe it's because she's a tinker at heart and loves to help him, or maybe it's because she enjoys playing rough; whatever it is, she's just always been slightly more comfortable with her dad. Neve is definitely more open towards him, anyway. Every secret is spilled to Arakeel - he even knows about Aluni - because his daughter knows that he's unlikely to flip out like Zaira would. Whenever Arakeel yells, it's because of his short-fused temper, not because of anything serious. It's strange. Intimate romance with a kiamara hundreds of miles away, and not a care, but spilling lemonade on the keyboard of the family computer, it's the end of the world! Some of Neve's favourite things to do with her father include fixing and tinkering, arsing about in the local park and going on some good, long road trips. It's even more fun with Aslan singing to the tune of his guitar in the back of the truck, and some of Adaline's wonderful brownies to eat. Oh, and when the car breaks down; it gives them a chance to fix and improve!

ASLAN - BROTHER/TWIN - (*^o^*) Despite being older by four minutes, Aslan and Neve are best buddies. Inseparable since birth they do practically everything together. Neve loves listening to her brother sing and giving him tips or songs to sing, and Aslan has always loved the tattoo designs his sister makes. Secretly he relishes the idea of getting matching ones. They also have some great laughs together, whether it be with their father or just the two of them. Regarding fights and arguments, they are always won together; though sometimes they may argue over trivial matters such as who gets the last jammy dodger. Although Aslan is jealous of Neve's ability, and she knows it, they still manage to love each other.
