>>>>>asuka's story;; when asuka was just a young little viscling, her parents abandoned her- but there was a good reason why. hunters had invaded asuka's forest home, and they sought the viscets with the most beautiful, most exotic pelt. the forest where asuka's family had lived in was full of them, and those viscets provided unique bloodlines and bedazzling coats. the forest was targeted and a band of hunters decided to take down all of the viscets from the forest and sell their precious coats. the adults needed to be hunted down, and the visclings were to be captured. many families were separated, wrenched apart like paper being torn apart. the cries of young visclings filled the air as they called for their mothers, taken mercilessly by man. the grown viscets' cries also filled the air, this time in pain and in grief. asuka's family had settled under a fallen tree, creating a large, underground den. they were undisturbed, but not for long.. my bright amber eyes blinked as they scanned my mother's face, which was full of worry. i couldn't see why she was in that way- she was always happy! my father, too, had that look on his face. i let out a tiny whimper as i nuzzled my mother's soft chest-fur, pressing my own pelt to hers. "momma.. what's wrong? why do you have that look on your face?" my mother said nothing, but she only gazed at the rising sun on the horizon, distant and silent. "momma.. please tell me why you have that face on." my father padded to my mother's side, nudging her with his shoulder. my mother's broad shoulders seemed to tense a little, but then they relaxed. my father spoke, calmly, soothingly. "are you sure you want to do this? we don't have to if you want. it was my idea after-" my mother interrupted him with a sigh. "we're going to do this. it is for the best. for our safety, for asuka." my ears perked at the sound of my name, and my tail-tip wagged a little. this had to do something about me! my mother looked down at me and nuzzled my ear, then got up to her hind paws. "should we go now?" my father nodded, rising from his position as well. "yes, i think it's time to go.. i don't want them to reach us, especially since it's dawn. they don't wake up until later in the morning."
