Prologue
Jasmine gripped her sisters’ hand tightly, tears welling in her eyes. Watching her mother die was not her idea of a good time. “What do we do now,” whispers a shivering Elizabeth, tears trickling down her face as she grips my hand tighter. “I’m not sure,” I reply my voice faltering “but we’re not safe here that’s for sure as soon as they figure out we’re her daughters they’ll track us down and kill us”. Elizabeth gasped as the flames rose higher. An idea pops into my head it’s not much of a lead but I think it could be promising. “Hey Lizzy,” I whisper into my sisters ear. “Do you remember that little cottage we visited with mum and dad when we were four”. “You mean the one by the brook” she replied obliviously interested”. I nod. “If you don’t mind Lizzy I think that maybe we should stay there for a while, just to stay safe”. She nods solemnly “okay I suppose”. We turned to face the dense forest and clinging onto each other’s hands we entered the forest...
Our adventure was just beginning...

Here is the first chapter!
Jazz!
Chapter 1
Eight years later...
“Cock-a-doodle-doo,” a rooster crowed somewhere far off in the distance. Jasmine blinked sleepily and rose out of bed. It was eight years later, eight years since Jasmine’s mother was burned on a pike. Her mother was accused of being a witch and was burned to a crisp. Adelaide’s two daughters, Jasmine and Elizabeth. Had retreated to the wood that night in search of the cottage they had once visited at the age of four with their parents. It took a while but eventually they found it, the shabby cottage they had loved so greatly as children. The roof was still in good condition, although the rest was falling down. The sisters decided that they could patch up the little shack. So in no time flat they had transformed it back into what it once was before. The sisters got used to the peacefulness of the wood and only left to attend markets and the annual carnival fair. Other than that they stayed in the beautiful woods surrounded by its serene beauty. “Yawn,” Jasmine stretched in the morning light filtering through the windows. She pulled on her blue cotton wool dress and stepped out into the cool morning air. The grass as green as emeralds shone in the dawn light, the strands of green adorned with thousands of glistening dew drops. A squirrel raced across the ground towards her, its paws moving at rapid speed as it ran across the ground. As it approached her it tapped lightly on her boot. “Oh hello pip,” she said to the small mammal “what brings you here so early in the day”? The squirrel squeaked several times before Jasmine finally nodded “I understand, you came down to remind me that today is market day,” she said. “Thank you pip if it wasn’t for you me and Elizabeth would forget everything”. Jasmine quickly hugged the squirrel and then rushed back inside to wake her sister.

CHAPTER TWO
By Blueberry Lollipop
I rub my eyes wearily as my sister, Jasmine, shakes me awake
“Wake-up, sleepy head!” she whispers in my ear quietly. “It’s market day!”
“Poo,” I mutter. “Wait. Market day?” I blink and sit up. “What‘ve you got for breakfast?” I tease, knowing the answer very well, since I’m the cook.
Jasmine laughs, and answers, “Eggs, carrots, potatoes, and fish.”
"Yum! Where is it?"
"Right there," she says, pointing to the far corner.
For breakfast I dice the potatoes and fish, fry the eggs, and slice the carrots while Jasmine cuts up some mushrooms that I spotted by the stream outside.
After breakfast we start off to the market.
About an hour later we arrive at the town.
"We're here at last!" we both sigh together.

Chapter 3
As we gasp for breath I take a look around. At first glance rich merchants just see a scruffy pheasant market but Elizabeth and I love this place to pieces. One of the only places we can be and not be threatened by our mother’s death sentence. “Ok Lizzie what do we have on our market list for today,” I smile at my sister cheekily knowing that she hates the nicknames I give her occasionally. Elizabeth straightens up and looks at me amused “well if you must know I will be getting some more seeds for crops and stuff like that, YOU can go and collect some useful things as well IF you want to be helpful,” she giggles and walks off to continue her business. “Useful things, useful things” I mutter to myself thinking hard. I give up at the moment me and Elizabeth are well prepared for our survival in the woods. As I walk alongside the stalls I spot Gaston, a friendly farmer who loves to offer good deals to his closest friends and family. “Ah why hello there young Jasmine a fine day for a market is it not?” he says to me as I approach the stall, “good morning Gaston,” I reply smiling “and yes it is quite a nice morning if I do say so myself”. Gaston smiles back and begins rummaging through the things in his stall; turning back I notice he has two strange amulets in his hands both with a different gemstone in the centre one blue, one purple. “Gaston” I gasp “they’re beautiful,” “yes and that is why I want you and your sister to have them also you should probably know that I remember your mother, she was one of the nicest people I ever did meet”. He passes them into my hand and I hold them tight “thank you Gaston I...” tears start to well in my eyes “thank you” I gasp and I turn to find Elizabeth.
As I clutch the amulets tight they glow faintly.
