Prologue

The clouds gathered in a circle. They spun and kicked up a whirlwind. Villages down below being crushed. The clouds slowed the spinning and gathered closer. They began to glow and shake. After a while, it broke into 5 parts and scattered across the earth. Each cloud forming into a being.

A Shifter.

A Caster.

A Summoner.

A Hammer.

And an Adventurer.

As one, all these beings make the group, the Cloud Warriors

Chapter 1 - The Girl The Clouds Sent Over

"Izumi~" I heard a voice call out. Chills ran down my spine. I slowly looked behind myself to see Kaie running up to me, I began running. I'm a shifter. The only one in the world in fact. My best friend Kaie is a caster, he's also the only one of his kind. Did I mention, he thinks I'm a guy.

"Izumi! I picked out some new clothes for you!" Kaie called out.

"I told you, I'm a girl!" I yelled out.

"I get it, you're gay, you don't have to snap about it~" he replied.

I jumped into the bushes and shifted into my animal. The wolf. It's easier to run this way. I sprinted out of the bushes and ran past people. They all stared at me and gasped because wolves are very rare around here, and no one really sees a wolf running down the streets.

"Izumi! Don't run away from me!" Kaie called out.

He pulled out his staff and spoke some incoherent words. A golden spark flashed in front of me and I came to a stop as Kaie was right in front of me. He smirked and pulled out a pink bag from behind his back.

~Time Skip~

Kaie had forced me to change into a white blouse with a pink vest, pink shorts, pink converse, topped off with a pink beret.

"So kawaii~" he said smiling.

"I hate pink." I said pouting.

"Oh, I know, but it suits you so well!" he said.

"Does not." I pout.

Kaie laughed and dragged me outside. "Come on!" he said.

"H-hey! This was not apart of the deal! I'm not going anywhere dressed like this! At least change the colouring to blue!" I yelled.

"Fine." he pouted. He handed me the same clothes but in a light shade of blue, the blouse was still white though.

After I changed he dragged me outside, "Why do you want to go outside anyways?" I ask.

"Oh what, do you wanna be cooped up inside all day?" he asked.

"Yea, I'd prefer that actually." I state folding my arms.

"Well, too bad!" he said grinning.

He dragged me down a path that lead to who-knows-where. I felt the breeze press against my face, blowing my short silver hair around. I gaze up to the sky and look at the clouds. They're moving faster than usual.

"O-oi!" I call out to Kaie.

"Eh? What is it?" he asked.

"Don't the clouds seem to be moving quite fast?" I ask.

He glanced up and looked worried, "Yea... What do you think's the cause?" he asked.

"I don't know." I say.

I looked around and saw a girl with long blonde hair. She was walking towards us. When she was close enough I could see she had purple eyes and was wearing a short green dress.

"Hey, I'm Lio." she smiled.

"Hi, I'm Kaie, and this is my friend Izumi." Kaie said gesturing towards me.

"I was told to meet with two strange looking people here. I guess I found you." she said grinning.

"Who told you?" I ask.

"The clouds." she smiled, like it was totally normal to understand what the clouds were saying.

"So, why do you need to come to us?" I ask.

"Be nice." Kaie nudged me.

"Well, I'm an adventurer. Apparently I'm the only one in the world." she said.

"Oh cool! I'm a Caster! I can cast spells." Kaie said grinning.

I fold my arms and look away, "What about you?" Lio said.

"Shifter." I state.

"So, what kind of powers does an adventurer have?" Kaie asked her.

"Not much really, I just have really great navigation skills and can find my way just about anywhere." she said scratching the back of her neck.

"Cool!" Kaie said.

"What kind of spells can you cast?" Lio asked.

"Well, I'm still learning some, but right now I can cast a teleportation spell, healing spell and fire ball spell." he grinned.

I rolled my eyes at how much pride he had as he listed his spells, "Well, if this is all that's going on, I'm heading off to the forest." I state.

"Wait!" Kaie stated.

"I actually wanted to ask you guys something." Lio said.

I turn back to her, "Yea?"

"Since we all have our own powers, do you guys want to journey with me?" she asked.

"Where?" I ask.

"Anywhere our hearts take us." she smiled.

"How about anywhere the clouds take us?" Kaie asked.

"Ok! We could be the Sky Hoppers!" Lio stated grinning.

"How about Cloud Warriors?" I suggest.

"Ooh! I like that better!" she grinned.

Ashes of Yumenara

My eyes darted around. My arms crossed above my head. My feet as heavy as iron. I glanced around to see many things. Kaie and Lio chatting and laughing. I bet she's going to think I'm a guy now. I glanced upwards and watched the clouds drift through the sky.

"Hey look! It's a village!" Kaie yelled.

I direct my gaze to where he was pointing. There was a very large village, looked more like a town though.

"That's Yumenara." Lio smiled.

"How'd you know?" Kaie asked.

I face palmed as Lio pointed to a large billboard stating 'Welcome to Yumenara.'

"Might as well look around..." I say.

We wandered into the town. I noticed that there weren't very many people, considering the size, and the very few people that were lurking around looked very lifeless. I spotted one of them approaching Kaie.

"H-hello there y-young traveller." they said in an eerie voice.

"Kaie get back!" I called out.

"Why? She's just greeting me." he smiled. The woman who approached him gave a crooked smile and petted Kaie on the head.

"That's just creepy." I state.

A few of the other people started gathering around us and I spotted one of them pull out a knife. I glanced around and spotted a katana that was just conveniently lying around. I grabbed it and sliced the being holding the knife. It collapsed to the ground and formed into ash.

I ran over and grabbed the knife from the ashes and ran back handing it to Kaie, "One things for sure, they're not here to welcome us." I say.

Kaie nodded and grabbed the knife attacking the woman that approached him. Lio pulled out kunai from somewhere and started throwing them at the beings, shattering them into ash.

I used the katana to slice a few more until it became too much, "Ugh, we need to get out of here!" Lio yelled.

"No kidding." I say holding the hilt of the katana in my mouth and changing into a wolf running out of the town with Kaie and Lio close behind.

Once we'd fled quite far from the town I dropped the katana and changed back, wiping away the blood on the side of my mouth where the katana had cut me while running.

"You okay Izumi?" Kaie asked kneeling down.

I nod and pick up the katana. I look around, "How'd we end up in a jungle!?" I ask.

"I don't know." Kaie shrugged.

"Here." Lio said handing me a scabbard made of leather.

"Did you make this?" I ask.

"Yea, it was pretty simple." she shrugged. "I also made you a sheath for it out of some wood from this jungle."

"But where'd you get the leather?" Kaie asked.

"I had it on me from before I met you." she said grinning.

"Thanks." I say, putting the sword in the sheath and placing it in the scabbard. I transformed into a wolf, to see if it disappeared like my clothes. It didn't, instead it sat upon my back. I changed back, "Good enough." I say.

Another One?

As we came to the other side of the jungle, we saw a large town of some sort, however this one was much more lively than the last encounter.

"What is this place?" Kaie asked.

"I don't know. Let's find out." I suggest.

"Ooh! It's a beachside town!" Lio squealed pointing to a beach.

We walk into the entrance of the town, people began to look at us strangely until a really big guy approached us.

"U-uhm... Is this your town?" Lio asked.

"We're sorry for intruding." Kaie said, "We'll just be going now."

"Huh? Wait!" the male said.

We looked back at him strangely, "Hmm?" I ask.

"Please don't go, I don't want to hurt you, I thought maybe you could help me." he says, "You see, my name's Akio, and my father told me that I was a Hammer, but I don't know what that means." he says.

"A Hammer huh?" I say.

"Oh, you mean like a tool you use to hit nails into stuff?" Lio said cluelessly.

"That obviously not what he meant." I say.

"What did he mean then?" Kaie asked.

"I've heard of a Hammer before, it's someone who is extremely strong, they are the strongest beings in the universe, however there has never been one on Earth." I say.

"So he's just like us?" Lio said.

"Well then, want to join us? We are the Cloud Warriors!" Kaie announced.

"Sure, but it's getting late, we should stay here a while before going anywhere." Akio said.

"I agree." I state.

"My father's got some two spare rooms, so we can stay at his place." he says.

We all head off to Akio's father's place, all of us wondering what sort of house it'd be.

"We're here." Akio says gesturing towards a large mansion. I looked around and saw that we were on a cliff that went over the ocean.

"Woah, cool!" Kaie exclaimed.

I nodded in agreement as Akio let us in the house.

"Dad? You in here?" Akio called out.

"Hmm? Akihiko!? Is that you?" a male's voice called out.

"Dad, stop forgetting my name, it's Akio!" Akio says.

"Yes, that's great Akira, now are you going to introduce me to your friends?" his father said.

"Well..." Akio says.

"I'm Lio, and I'm an Adventurer!" Lio states with pride.

"I'm Kaie, I'm a Caster." Kaie says, "And the silent one's Izumi, he's a Shifter."

I glare at Kaie and he stands there looking innocent.

"We're the Cloud Warriors." Lio says.

"We're just going to stay the night, then we're off to adventure." Akio says.

"Ok, well, Akarai, you can stay in your room and fix up the two guest rooms for the others." his father said climbing up the stairs and disappearing behind the wall.

"Well, Lio, I'll show you your room first." Akio says.

"Wait, there are two spare rooms. Who's sharing?" I ask.

"You and me!" Kaie grins.

"But I'm a girl!" I say.

"Stop denying the facts, it'll get you nowhere." he says waving a hand in the air.

Akio came back out and walked over to us, "Ok, I'll show you to your room now." he smiles.

Akio opened the door to a fairly large room with a large mirror, a double bed with a bedside table that had a small lamp on it, Hold on, double bed!?

"Woah, woah, woah! Hold it! There's one bed!?" I say.

"Yeah, we don't have any other beds, this is the only spare, so I'll just be going know." Akio says running back to his room.

I sigh and look over at Kaie, "I don't mind." he grins.

"Well I do!" I say.

Kaie yawns and kicks his shoes off laying on the bed.

"Fine." I say, turning into a wolf and hopping up onto the soft quilt.

Ocean Dive

I flick my ears ever so slightly, feeling something snuggling into me. It's a warm essence that makes me feel safe. I opened my wolf eyes slowly to see that there was an arm around me. I look over to see that Kaie was snuggling into my fur. "K-kaie!?" I yell jumping out of the bed and turning back into my human form.

"Izumi? Why are you being so loud?" he asked wiping sleep away from his eyes and sitting up.

"Don't do that ever again!" I yell.

"Do what?" he asked.

"Don't cuddle up to me in your sleep!" I tell him.

"Aw, but you're just so cute and cuddly." he said.

"Whatever." I said letting myself out of the room, as I opened the door Lio was right in my face.

"What happened?" she asked.

"Nothing." I say pushing past her and walking outside. I sighed and sat down on the soft grass and gazed down at the ocean. I inspected the blue water as it glimmered as the morning sun was shining down on it. The beautiful sight causing me to smile.

"Who are you and what have you done to Izumi!" Kaie yelled at me.

"What are you talking about?" I ask.

"Izumi never smiles!" he yelled. I glare at him. "Oh sorry, false alarm." he said relaxing and sitting down next to me.

"When are we going?" I ask.

"Soon I think." he said, "I have an idea." he grinned.

"Hm?" I asked him. He stood up, pulling me up along with him.

"Let's jump in." he said.

"Jump in?" I ask.

"The water." he said.

"Ok." I said.

"On 3." he told me, "1," we walked to the edge of the cliff, "2," he held my hand and grinned, "3!" he yelled and we leapt off the cliff.

The wind circled around us as we fell closer and closer to the water, I opened my eyes at the last second and got a glimpse of up splashing into the ocean. The water engulfed us and I popped my head back up to the surface.

We were both laughing our heads off, "Let's do that again!" I said.

"Ok, now you're scaring me." he laughed.

I punched him in the shoulder playfully as we swam back to shore. We made our way back to the house up on the cliff, laughing all the way. When we got there Lio and Akio were sitting outside waiting for us. I stopped laughing and cleared my throat. "You ready to go?"
I asked in a bored tone.

Akio nodded and Lio jumped up happily
