Couple years ago I was every character's worst nightmare for a writer. . .
Kill parents. . .
Kill friends. . .
Threaten little siblings and psuedo-little siblings. . .
Leave characters half dead in a minimum of five separate sections of the story. . .
These days I try really hard to tone it down.
Top ways of doing so:
Not giving them parents to kill
Not giving them friends to kill
Not giving them siblings to kill
...
using charicidal self-control on the last one. . .
limited to 10 minor injuries (cuts, bruises, temporary loss of sight, etc.)
and
3 bad injuries (broken bones, permanent loss of sight [can be caused by but not limited to staring at bright lights, brain damage and other ocular-related head damage], minor cerebral contusion, suffucation, etc)
and
1 near fatal injury
as you may see, I have this down to a science. . . I tried writing an innocent romance once in my life. They both ended up dead. . . so. . . yeah. . .
I understand the feeling.
