Malianna Jain Rice, 17 - Prologue

~~~~13 years ago~~~~ "Malianna Jain! (pronounced Mal-e-on-na) Get your fluffy tail over here right now young lady!" my mother calls to me from the den. "Yes mama,"I call back to her. I'm keeping my new pet, hopefully mama and daddy will let Dr.Snugglez stay inside with me. Maybe he'll get along with Sir.Fluffles! Yay! As I make my way to my mama, I see a beautiful buttercurl. Ooh pretty... I run into my mother's leg and flop on the ground at her feet," oohf!" "Malianna, be careful! Are you alright?" my mother bends down, a concerned look on her face as she checks me over. "Yes, mama!" I jump up, I don't know what she's so worried about. "Good. You know better then to stray from the den! Get inside right now! And now desert!" she quickly changes her tone and points inside. "Awe!" I whine. She was going to make Rittles! That's my favorite!

My father is sitting in the chair napping while my older brother Kay, feeds my baby brother Rizolin (pronounced Riz-l-in) in the kitchen. I know Kay is not a traditional Cattra name, it's just short for Kayinvi (pronounced K-in-vie) because he doesn't like it. Kay is 7 years old even though he acts 16, I'm 4, and Rizolin is 2. Cattra's go by human years in case you are wondering. Sitting down quietly I swing my feet and pet Dr.Snugglz. mama and daddy let me us keep pets as long as they are friendly. Daddy says it's good for learning. I'm not sure how. All together we have 5 pets, counting Dr.Snugglez. Kay has a Airhin (pronounced air-he-in) named Valior ( pronounced Val-e-or) who is very nice. Valior is grey with silvery sparkles on her long, colorful tail. Her wings have golden swirls too. She's pretty. Kay also has a Greden he calls Naleiore (Pronounced Nale-e-or) that daddy cought from the river. He is see-threw with golden and light blue eyes. His fins are all the same color, the tips change colors. Daddy says that Gredens are like this because they need to blend into the ice. Rizolin has a Ridgcore, a vlossom one. Mama helped him name him Glaphorin (pronounced Gluh-for-in). She said it was a lovely name for a Ridgcore vlossom. They're very rare, and pretty. Glaphorin is red and pink but he can change to white, purple, and blue. There are sticky up bits on his elbows and knees that look like v shaped petals. Like most Ridgcore Vlossoms', he is very, very speedy. He's very sweet and lets you pet him and hold him. The velvety feel of his body calms Rizolin down when he is upset. Sir. Fluffles is my Roolue Parzin. The fluff on his tail feels like rubber, so does his limbs and ears. There are only 3 layers on them. But the rest feels rubbery only on the first two layers, the other three are supper soft. All of our pets get along. Hopefully they will like Dr. Snugglez. I've been studying his features and I think he's a Voremaya, they are rare. Voremalas' are their closest relative and they look very similar. Voremalas' are extraordinarily common, but they don't have 2 layers of fluff, they have 6. Plus Voremayas' have very sensitive skin, they get cuts and scrapes easily.

"Malianna! Dinner!" Kay calls from the kitchen, he likes to help mom cook. Kay is not a traditional Cattra. Wait. Yay dinner! Before I can get out of my seat a lot of loud and scary noises come from outside. Mama and daddy both rush to their feet. Mama looks out the window worried and starts to push Kay, Rizolin, and I down the hall," come on kittens. We need to go." "Wait Guhpho-in!" Rizolin cries. "I'll get him sweetie, just go with your brother and sister," mama gives him to Kay and tells us where to go before dashing off. We go down the steps as told and keep moving towards the secret door. Mama returns as we are almost there and hands me Glaphorin in his cage," go out the door and don't look back, keep running. Me and daddy will find you, sleep in trees at night and beware of strangers." "Mama what's happening?" I ask over the noise. "Nothing Malianna, now go," she lies and rushs away.

~~~~Present day~~~~ I open my eyes feeling the coldness of snow on my body. Sitting up and looking around, I realize it's still snowing from yesterday. My brothers are still asleep in cat form, like normal. I should wake them up so they don't get buried alive in this snow. First I leap over to my 20 year old brother Kayinvi, aka Kay's tree and jump on the branch to wiggle it. Kay sits up and shakes his head to get the snow off his face," good morning Malianna." After a quick nod, I leap to my 15 year old brother Rizolin's tree doing the same routine I do every day. He growls before getting up and ridding his overly fluffy, white fur of the snow. And lays down again. What am I going to do with him? Following Kay, I jump to the ground and start digging in the snow. It's here somewhere. "Aha!" I purr proudly, pulling the Vinri from it's freezer. Being from the snow mountain region has it's perks. I just wish my snow leopard was a bit smaller in size. Cattras from the snow region are snow leopards as their wild cat and normally a small, very fluffy white cat as their TCF. Cattras from the jungle region are ocelots and can change to thin furred, grey tabbys. The forest region Cattras are pure black with a normal hair leagth as their tame cat, and lynx for a wild cat. There are two rainforest clan types, leopards and tigers. They can't switch to a tame cat because they don't have the need. Mountainous regions have panthers aka mountain lions. They can be an orange and white tame cat. The list goes on; snow region, plains region, savanna region. And don't get me started about the cross regions and the other insane regions. Have you met a cave region cattra? Good you don't want to. They've been in there WAY to long.
"Uh Mal," Kay snaps me out of my thoughts. I realized I hadn't moved but two steps from the hole with the Vinri still in my mouth. Wow.
