Summary: A few years ago, elves came to earth, 'relocating' all the humans to Planet A2. Aribelle 'Ari' is an eighteen year old member of the Elf Warriors, and immediately rushed to help when a human boy is discovered. At first, she hates him- hates all humans- but soon she finds her life twisted upside down with confusion, adventure, and possible forbidden romance.
Chapter 1:
- Ari walked briskly down the halls of Skyflight Mansion, ignoring the states or whistles she got. Skyflight Mansion was home to King Adrian, ruler of the elves. He was fine as far as kings went, but she couldn't help comparing him to the last king.
"Aribelle!" A stocky man dashed up to her, papers fluttering wildly in one hand. Ari stopped short and sighed.
"Yes, Commander?"
No one knew what his name truly was as he refused to speak it. Everyone just called him either Commander or Captain.
"Training's long begun! You should've been there ten minutes ago!"
Ari rolled her eyes. "When will you understand, I don't need training." She sidestepped him and continued walking. Commander shook his head, sighing. Ari walked out the door into the night air, spreading her arms and taking a deep breath. She loved fighting and she loved being part of the Elf Warriors, but she needed breathing room.
A branch snapped and she squinted into the darkness. A forest surrounded Skyflight Mansion, the tall trees making it impossible to see further than a few feet.
Im being paranoid, Ari told herself, bright green eyes scanning the tree line. All the humans are on Planet A2. And a wild animal wouldn't dare come close.
Planet A2 was where she'd been born. It was a nice enough planet, just terrible compared to earth. So they'd made a switch- abducting the humans and bringing them to A2, and taking earth for themselves.
That shadow behind a talk oak seemed suspicious. Ari took a step closer, the loud noise echoing through the dark. The shadow took off, racing into the trees. A humanoid shadow. Ari's pulse quickened and she took off after it, speaking into the mic on her wrist.
"Aribelle speaking! I befit someone running north-west into the forest! I think I've got him, but being backup!"
Her hand went to the hilt of her sword as she jumped deftly over a fallen log and ducked to avoid a heavy branch crawling with bugs.
A chopping noise split the cool air and Ari gave a sigh of relief. The copter hovered over the escaping mystery shadow and the bottom hatch opened up. From the belly of the aircraft dropped a handful of elves, moon glinting on the steel blades.
They formed a circle around the escapee and he skidded to a stop, turning in a circle. One of the soldiers pulled a flashlight out of his pocket and clicked inter beam. Ari narrowed her eyes in hate. A human.
He was a bit taller than her, with black hair and multicolored eyes- one blue and one brown. He was obviously muscled, but he was lean and wiry, built more for speed and agility.
Ari took a step forward. "How did you get off Planet A2?" She snapped, unsheathing her sword. He grinned, the moon illuminating his smile. Ari back off a step, slightly unnerved. The boy was close enough to her that he could attack her. No one moved for a moment. Then suddenly he jumped at her, wrapping an arm around her neck.
With one hand he wrenched her weapon away. He loosened his grip, pressing a small blade to her neck.
"One move and I'll do it," he warned, backing up a step, taking Ari with her. She shuddered, knowing better than to fight. One of the Warriors stepped forward, hesitation written on his face.
"Drop the weapons or else," said the boy again, voice cold. "I will do it."
The commander, who Ari hadn't even noticed, nodded slightly. There was a clatter as swords fell from their owner's hands and landed on the soft ground.
"All right." Commander's voice was shaky. "Now let her go."
Ari guessed her captor was grinning. "Now why would I do that?" He asked, voice clear. He pulled her back a step. "Don't follow us or else."
Us? Ari had had enough. She wriggled furiously, ducking out of his grasp. With one arm, he reached out and pulled her back.
"Don't try it, kid," he hissed in her ear. Ari gulped. The commander took a step back. The boy backed up and Ari complied, letting him half drag, half lead her back. She half expected the commander to attack, but she knew he wouldn't risk it. Which left her alone with a possible killer.
As soon as the soldiers were out of sight, the boy raised his fingers to his lips and whistled. A few seconds passed, then a sleek black horse burst out of the trees in front of them, rearing a greeting. A genuine smile split his face.
"Hey, girl," he crooned. "That's my pretty girl." Ari raised an eyebrow. He sure acted different around his horse. Still holding her with one hand, he rummaged around in the saddle bags, bringing out a cool of rope. Ari backed away.
"Cool it, I'm not going to hurt you," said the boy, exasperated. Ari found herself rolling her eyes.
"Yeah, because you so didn't almost kill me earlier," she snapped sarcastically. A small smile flickered over his face as he grabbed for her hands, taking them before she could wrench them away.
He knotted her hands in front of her with a good tight knot.
"Now get on the horse," he commanded. Ari smirked.
"My hands are tied, dummy."
He shrugged. "Bliss, down." The horse dropped to her knees and he turned to Ari. "Now can you get on?"
Glaring daggers, she positioned herself on Bliss' back. The boy swung up in front of her and the gorse clambered to her hooves. He twisted around to look at her.
"You can hold on to me if you want."
"In your dreams," snapped Ari. He shrugged and tapped the mare's sides with his heels. Ari looked wistfully back to where the rest of the soldiers were. They'd rescue her. She'd just have to be patient.
