This is Halloween
Tolter Challenge Story. Words: 1247 COMPLETED
Got points: Yes: 46

Pete’s favourite holiday is Halloween, naturally. Due to his erratic and playful nature, it is the perfect time for scary pranks. His glossy black coat works to his advantage, he is practically unseen in the dark. His golden eyes scare the hell out of the children. Nothing is a better feeling than hiding behind a bush and jumping out on children! They should know now in his opinion. Pete is nothing like his timid mother, Foxtrot and to be honest, he actually scares her a bit. She would dare let that slip out though. It would break him.
Halloween was drawing close. Three more days to go thought Pete. He swished his black tail and his ears quivered in excitement. What should I do this year? He pondered. The children from the area already knew his tricks and were too old for his pranks. He had to do something big, not enough to give them nightmares, just enough to get them to laugh afterwards. It had to be something well thought out. New. Pete shook his mane and paced his stable. It was still dark outside. He had a whole three days to plan, without Rebel knowing. She’d kill him. He’d got off with her on the wrong foot in the first place. They just got each other’s nerves, just rubbed each other up the wrong way. The young stallion racked his mind for a good scare. First light peeked through the windows of the barn. The horse opposite him, Train –another young stallion, who of which was his friend- started stirring.
“Psst” Pete whispered harshly to Train. The brownish blue head snapped up. Train flicked his ear towards him and took a step towards the stable door.
“What?” Train asked. Pete looked like he was up to something. Train had seen this mischievous look before. Usually, he didn’t get involved, but it was Halloween so what the heck!
“Wanna help me plan a scare for Halloween?” Pete asked. Train knew what he was going to say before he even opened his mouth. The young taffy stallion shook his mane.
“I don’t see why not.” If Horses could grin, Pete would be grinning like a Cheshire Cat. Pete gave a little nicker of joy instead. Train found that quite cute. Pete’s vocals, when he was being quiet, were very high pitched. Train snorted. Pete could see he was trying to supress something. He shook it off then proceeded to try and slide open the bolt that held him captive. Ten minutes later, he was free. Pete, let’s just say, had had a lot of practise with bolts, so he had to have a special one that was supposed to be ‘Unescapable’. Yeah right. Pete sure made a liar out of that. The black stallion tried to quietly move over the aisle towards Train’s stall when he heard an indignant nicker of protest from over the barn.
“C’mon, let me come too!” It was Fritz, how could Pete forget him! A smaller black head poked over a door. “Don’t forget me!”
“I’ll let Train out first!” Pete nickered back. He quickly slid Train’s simple bolt open and the Blue Taffy stallion was out. The duo slowly walked towards the appaloosa stallion. Fritz did a little piaffe of excitement at his door. Pete snorted, he loved the energy on that guy! He fumbled with the bolt between his teeth, Fritz was also a bit of an escapee so he had a complex bolt too. In a matter of minutes the third was out. The stallions made for the wood.
“And where are you going?!” A harsh voice said from behind them. With blazing green balls of fury, a buttermilk mare stepped out.
Rebel.
They were in trouble.
“Uhh… um.. well me and Train and Pete here..” Fritz gulped, even he was scared of Rebel and he was pretty bold. “Well, we were going…” The appaloosa turned his purple eyes to us in urgency.
“WE WERE GOING TO THE LAKE…YES THE LAKE” Train said quickly. Rebel didn’t believe us. We couldn’t fool her. She had been in the mounted police unit for a short while. She could literally smell a liar.
“So smooth” Pete muttered to Train and Train glared at him.
“You could try a little harder.” Rebel said sarcastically. “Get back to the yard”
Fritz glared at her. He was about to open his mouth and yell at her when Train whipped him with his tail. Her green eyes bore into the young stallions. Pete had an idea. Rebel was not the fastest in the herd. She was the most muscular, which weighed her down. He looked at the sunlit woods behind her and ran. He stretched into a fast gallop. Fritz was the fastest, easily. His father, Racer, had lived up to his name and Fritz had inherited the speed. He was a little slow to catch on to the idea but he caught the Blue Taffy and the Black up easily. He heard a snort of rage behind him, Rebel was pacing but she looked… anxious, scared even. Fritz saw her over his shoulder turn tail and gallop away. She never usually acted like that! Fritz circled the stallions and brought them to a halt.
“Why was Rebel looking scared?” the appaloosa male asked.
“Just trying to scare us with a tale she told about some sort of creature in this forest to try and get us to keep out when we were colts.” Came the reply from Train.
Pete looked worriedly at the brooding trees. ”You don’t think?”
Fritz pawed at the ground nervously, “Train, you don’t think she was telling the truth?” his eyes were clouded with fear. Train laughed, man he was on a wild streak this morning.
“Yeah right” He spluttered between breaths of laughter. The two others tried to look brave. “So are we planning this scare or what? Are you backing out?! The two boldest horses, scared?!”
Pete still didn’t think this was a good idea. Then, he noticed a pair of piercing blue eyes behind Train.
“Uhhh… Train?” He said shakily. These mysterious blue orbs danced in the new light of the sun but their owner was not yet revealed. Train whipped around and became face to face with the creature. He spooked and leapt to re-join Fritz and Pete. They trembled nervously. A long and high pitched neigh reached out to them and faded off quickly. This ghostly tremor of noise filled their hearts with fear. They were frozen to the ground. Metal horseshoes chimed out on the concrete like something was erratically pawing a hoof. The three stallions shrieked in terror and were about to turn when the neigh came again but this time they recognised it. The lilac stallion stepped out of the shadows with a confused expression. Dusk! The trio breathed a sigh of relief. Dusk was a mysterious fellow and usually, stuck to the shadows.
“Dusk!” They practically all yelled at the same time.
“It’s not safe here.” Dusk said to his son, Train. “Take your friends and leave!” he added with a hoarse voice. He was foaming at the neck and looked extremely tired.
“Father, what hap-“ Fritz was cut short by Dusk yelling at them again to go. The trio turned tail and ran. They galloped and didn’t stop until they reached the barn. A low lonely howl and a horse’s battle cry echoed across the landscape and then both cut short.

This Is Halloween
Tolter Challenge Poem. Stanzas: 13 COMPLETED
Got points: Yes :12

I saw the familiar black face looking at me
mischief sparkled in his golden stare
Pete was up to something, planning, it was easy to see
Halloween was drawing close, Pete was going to add some flare

Every Halloween he was up to something new
I was not up to anything so I joined in
He whispered to me and set me free and Fritz too
We had to be quiet, so we could hear the drop of a pin

If Rebel found us, she kill us for sure
Three young stallions escaping at dawn
Making tricks for our Halloween tour
We try to make even less sound than a fawn

Silent, we creep along the aisle
I start to re-think about my decision
Should I have joined in, I trial
It was Pete's Halloween vision

Out without a sound
through the familiar grass
light poured on the golden grass, no horses to be found
The wind picks up eerily as we pass

The forest, our destination is in sight
Where we will plan out evil trick
Then we are met with a fright
The herd leader, Rebel, the sight of her makes me sick

She tells us ferociously to leave
my adrenaline is pumping
the others are turning with a reluctant heave
I am, with excitement and fear, jumping.

I have a plan and Pete picks up on it
His intelligent face lights up with delight
I go into gallop not facing Rebel's fit
All three of us, galloping fast, high as a kite

She is lost in the wind, grumbling she turns away
then, even more confusing she looked frightened
What had we run into, would we pay?
We were alive and our senses heightened.

A pair of blue orbs crack through the forest's dark
Fritz panics sending a deafening cry
Then a mysterious resemblance, and a cry that echoes through the park
I recognise it as my father and I ask him with a sigh.

He interrupts me quickly with genuine fear
Tells us to run and leave this place
I don't question my dad and we hear,
Something scary without a face

We turn and run, true and fast
My father's war scream, eerie and pure
A mysterious howl meeting it at last
Then they cut off for sure.

Where the stories that Rebel told us real?
The ones when we were colts?
That we didn't believe?
oh, but they were real.

This Ain't A Scene- Story- COMPLETED

This Ain't A Scene
Tolter Story. Words: 1008 COMPLETED
Got points: Yes :44

Ok, I was casually stalking profiles when this idea hit me harder than a bus... so enjoy!

Patrick was stood on his own, as usual. He didn't even bother to try and make a game for his bullies by running away, they'd catch up to him easily. He sighed and drooped his head. This was around the time the three horses, Uma, Shirley and Hysteria (The ringleader) appeared. A harsh voice crashed through Patrick's thoughts.
"Hey, look it's the pansy!"
Hysteria.
The aggressive red dun only came out of his shell to bully Patrick. The palomino and white stallion flinched at the voice. A white mare with a striking red mane and a crimson and white mare stood at Hysteria's side. Sneers were plastered on their faces.
"So, is the wimp not gonna put up a fight?!" snarled Uma. Patrick shrunk away. Cruel laughter emerged from the trio. They circled him and he lowered his head submissively. Then Hysteria reared vertically and pawed at the submissive stallion and hit him hard on the shoulder. Patrick gave a sharp squeal which trigged sniggers and amused snorts. Shirley, the sly one out of the three snorted
"Aww... It's hurting him Hyst, stop it" In a cruel fake and mocking tone. Then Uma reared and landed on his rump, Patrick squealed. They'd never hurt him physically before! Usually it was just harsh insults and hurtful words directed at the tobiano stallion. The three horses threw their front feet out at him, occasionally clipping him but just to make him flinch. Then, their favourite part of the game, chasing Patrick to get some more entertainment. Uma and Shirley parted and Hysteria reared and pawed at him making Patrick turn tail and run. The three bullies followed the stallion yelling insults and mainly just toying with him. The chased him to a rivers edge where he cowered a little before Uma brutally shoved him in. He was used to this so he could swim. Then, the aggressive trio turned and left sniggering to themselves. Patrick got out and let a snort of frustration. He wouldn't tell anyone because Uma, was the herd leader, Rebel's best friend and she wouldn't hear a word wrong about it. He shook his silver and yellow coat and then he felt the cold. He made his way back to the barn shivering and wet. This happened every day, he didn't have much to look forward too. Patrick didn't interact with the other horses either. He just stayed small in the back off his box. His shoulder, legs and rump ached from the brutal beatings he'd received. He sighed and chewed on the straw in his stable when he heard a crash and sniggers. This wasn't Hysteria and his gang though! Patrick heard the irritated voice of the owner scold some stallion he'd never bother to meet or know his name. He heard the owner yelling at him for breaking his stall again! Then with a frustrated sigh, Patrick heard him grab a headcollar and leadrope. A clopping sound of hooves grew until a jet black stallion was in sight. Patrick looked at him in awe, the way the stallion carried himself..was ... just amazing. The stallion's gold eyes scanned the new horses and a sparkle of mischief danced in them. Patrick wished he could be like this stallion, careless and popular. He knew all the mares loved him by the way they swooned when he passed them. He swished his tail in their faces, playing with them and they all adored him.
'Oh great,' Patrick thought 'Another big shot to bully me' And to Patrick's distaste, the heartthrob was put in the stable next to him. The black male looked over his door and craned his neck to see over Patrick's.
"Hey." He said mischievously, his eyes sparkling.
"Uhh... Hi?" Patrick replied, confused. Why was this literal lord talking to him?! He was nobody significant.
"I'm Pete. "(Yes Pete is my favourite if you haven't guessed) said the stallion.
"Well I'm Patrick," Patrick said huffily "So, when are you going to start teasing me!?" this last line was snapped and Pete looked taken aback.
"Why would I do that? You're freaking adorable." Pete said cheekily. It was Patrick's turn to be taken aback.
"What?" The tobiano asked, increasingly confused.
"You're cute." The black said with a grin. If horses could blush, Patrick certainly would.
Patrick was let out in the field again the next day. He waited for Hysteria and his crew to come. Once Pete knew who Patrick was, he'd probably join them. As usual, Hysteria, Shirley and Uma rounded the corner. Smirks etched on their faces as they spotted their prey, Patrick. Abuse was shouted at him, as per, and they surrounded him and yelled insults. Little did Patrick know, this day was going to be different.
"What are you doing?!" came an angry voice from behind Uma. All four turned to see a black stallion. Pete?! Wait, what was he doing here?! Pete snorted angrily and his gold eyes blazed with fury. This was the reason Pete's full name was Details With The Devil. His ears flattened and his face was tight. Hysteria, Uma and Shirley looked at him in shock. Pete wasn't one to abide with rules and they knew that, they also knew that Pete was very strong and could fight better than a lead stallion. The bullies shrunk away and Patrick looked at him with eyes shining. Then Pete did something unexpected. He reared and shrieked at them, a true leaders warning. Patrick wondered why he wasn't the lead stallion (PATRICK HE WAS WAITING FOR YOU, MY CHILD). The trio would probably tell Rebel that Pete attacked them for no reason and she'd get mad and stuff but Pete didn't care. As they ran away Uma yelled
"You'll Pay for this!"
Those words rang out in Patrick's head and he cowered into Pete's side. Pete's blazing gold orbs returned to normal and he put his head over the smaller stallion's neck protectively. Patrick cuddled into Pete's strong chest and sighed.
"You'll be literally murdered." He whispered to Pete.
"Don't Care." Came the muttered reply. This was when Patrick knew he had a mate for life.

From Now On We Are Enemies- Story- COMPLETED

From Now On We Are Enemies
Tolter Story. Words: 1348 COMPLETED
Got points: Yes : 36

(I should mix up the characters a little....

OK WE FINALLY GET TO MEET REBEL, FINALLY!)

The buckskin mare sighed. Her breath formed a cloud in the crisp winter morning in the barn. She shook her black mane and put her head over the dutch doors. Rebel snorted as she looked down the row of Icelandic horses. Rebel knew each and everyone of them by show names and call names. After all she was herd leader. She couldn't wait to go outside and see her mate, Typhon, but the weather made that impossible. Her green eyes clouded at picture of him that formed in her mind.
No, Rebel, don't get soft!
She snorted again and tossed her head in defiance to her emotions as she noticed one of the mares looking at her sympathetically.Ugh...sympathy.
She kicked at the door resuming her defiant attitude. She booted hell out of that poor door until the point she got agitated and started to pace the stable. Her owner came rushing down to see the commotion. He scolded her but she looked at him as if she was bored. He sighed and walked off to go an occupy himself with another tolter. She fiddled with the bolt on her stable. After a while of messing around she finally slid it off.
Lately, something had been bugging her more than the fact she couldn't see her mate and it may or may not end up as a bad situation. Rebel narrowed her eyes as she looked down the row before she spotted 'the pin in her side' of the herd.
Twilight Dystopia Z.
Toby was so full of himself he made her mad. They used to be on good terms but now they were not. She remembered the words she screamed at him at the time of the incident.
From now on we are enemies
*ONE AWKWARD FLASHBACK AND TWO HOPES THAT THIS STORY IS GOOD*
"Rebel, we have a new herd mate coming!" said Edgar, one of the stallions in the herd, from over the fence. He was a friendly and protective little guy and Rebel found him alright.
Rebel's head snapped up from the piece of grass she was munching on and she looked over to the stallion's field to see him.
"Yes... I forgot." she replied to him and he chuckled to himself. Rebel rolled her eyes at the buckskin and white stallion. "Anyway, what is it like?"
"Well, apparently it is a stallion going by the name of Dystopia Z." Said Edgar.
"Ravishing." Rebel said dryly. Edgar shook his head.
"What's your problem?"
"He is one of those fancy competition horses by the sound of his name!"
Edgar shrugged and raised his head to the sound of a horsebox rumbling into the courtyard. A piercing whinny sounded from it. Rebel tensed. Was this a challenger?. She snorted angrily and pawed at the concrete floor, ready to put this stallion in his place. The two buckskins stood by each other with eager anticipation to see what would come out of the box. As the ramp lowered, more eager whinnies sounded from inside like a fanfare announcing the stallion's arrival. Dystopia Z sounded like a handful. The stallion inside the box kicked at the side of it, just waiting to see his new home. The mares and stallions started to huddle watching the horsebox. A few moments later and a gleaming classic champagne snowcap stallion pranced out. His violet eyes sparkled in the light and all the mares' eyes were glued to this magnificent stallion. He reared at the men holding him once and then pranced alongside them.
Not bad. Rebel thought, flicking an ear. Edgar grinned at her.
"So he is a fancy showhorse, eh?" he said.
"Yes." she said with a little smug satisfaction. Suddenly, Dystopia Z pulled away from the men. He broke his leadrope and came galloping towards the fence. He glided over the one meter ten fence with absolute ease and finesse. The mares batted their eyelashes at the stallion as he slid to a halt inside the stallion field and looked over to them. Rebel rolled her eyes. Dystopia Z turned to a black tovero stallion known as Omega and asked him who was the herd leader. He indicated to Rebel and the stallion trotted over to the fenceline.
"Hello." Dystopia Z said to Rebel.
"Hi." she replied stiffly.
"I'm Toby." He said kindly.
"Well I'm Rebel, the herd leader. If you try to cause any trouble .."
She was cut short by Toby.
"You're really pretty." he said. She was speechless (A/N: This is set before she had Typhon as a mate ;3, she'd never been told that before.
"Uh.. T.. Thank You" She stuttered out. She did think he was really handsome.
-ZE NEXT DAI-
Rebel woke up in her stable to see standing outside, was Toby, with a flower in his mouth. She smiled to herself. He dropped it at her feet over the door.
"Hello beautiful." he said with a mischievous glint in his eye. She picked the single flower up and put it on the ledge in her box. Rebel walked over to Toby and she licked his cheek softly. He nuzzled her.
This became a thing between them, they'd always greet each other like this everyday and it continued for months. Everyone was happy that Rebel had found her 'one'. But was it going to last?
Foxtrot, a particularly timid and quiet mare stumbled over to Rebel one day.
"Hey," she said almost whispering to Rebel. "How are you?"
Rebel turned to look at her.
"I'm good. You?"
"Well. There's been a problem, please don't get mad at me, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I was observing the other day when I noticed Dystopia Z or Toby was greeting mares the same way he greets you. A few mares to be exact. Not from this yard but from the neighbouring one. He's been flirting with the mares too. I'd watch out for him." Foxtrot said cowering away.
Rebel felt like she'd been hit by a ton of bricks. Her legs trembled and her eyes watered.
"No... it cant be..." she whispered almost inaudibly. Foxtrot gave her a sympathetic look. Rebel's sadness soon turned to rage.
"I'm going to kill him." She growled. Foxtrot shrank away. The buckskin mare snorted angrily and her eyes blazed as she caught sight of the snowcap stallion. She galloped up to him and reared in his face and pawed at the air.
"What's up?" He asked confused and scared.
"Oh, nothing. Just you've been cheating on me, that's all. It's not important really!" She snarled sarcastically. He backed away.
"I'm sorr.." He was cut off by Rebel's incoherent screeching.
"You're not sorry because I can tell a liar." Hurt shone in her eyes and she almost broke down with tears. "Don't pretend you actually loved me because you didn't, I was just a pawn in your game. My feelings aren't your stupid little worthless game!" She screeched at him. She span and kicked him square in the shoulder. He neighed in pain.
"This is me being kind!" she yelled after storming off. Toby ran after her.
"I'm sorry for playing you like a game, I am." he said.
"I don't care. I don't want your apologies. From now on we are enemies!."
*PRESENT DAY*
The memory hit her hard. Her lip trembled a bit.
Suck it up. she thought. Rebel glared at the champagne stallion, he'd been at his little 'game' again recently. He caught her eye and turned to her. Sadness was in his gaze but it provoked her fury more. Rebel turned to him and snarled over his door.
"I thought you would have learned your lesson now. Obviously not! If you go breaking anymore of my ladies hearts, I will break you." He shot to the back of his stall trembling and he looked at the floor, avoiding her icy glare.
"You don't deserve any mare, nevermind a Twilight Circus mare!" (no insult intended here!) she screeched. Rebel reared to the front of the door and bashed her front hooves against it, she neighed in fury and his dropped his head to the floor in submission. She gave him one more frosty glare before returning to her stable, satisfied with her work.

Remember Me
Tolter Challenge Story Words: 2234 COMPLETED
Got points: Yes :86

Fun Ghoul was excited. He couldn't wait for the summer solstice! Longest day and shortest night! The chestnut snorted happily and tossed his head. It was his favourite time of the year as it became, officially, summer. Fun Ghoul loved this because the barn usually held a party, like a celebration of the solstice. Fun Ghoul hadn't been at The Twilight Circus Equestrian Centre for long but he had heard excited murmurings about the party. Pete was going to officiate it.
This'll be interesting. Fun Ghoul though as he poked his head over his stable and looked over to the young black stallion who returned his gaze with a cheeky glint in his eye.
Well, it's going to be lively. Knowing Pete had something planned for him! Fun Ghoul looked over to the horse next to him, a young palomino tobiano stallion, named Patrick. Patrick was Pete's mate, he had been told. The chestnut nickered to Patrick to get the young horse's attention. Ears flicked as they registered the sound. The friendly stallion walked over to see Fun Ghoul properly.
"Hey." He said, his blue eyes shining. The palomino and white was so cheerful but Fun Ghoul felt sorry for him. Patrick's white patches were a rare type of white called dominant white. This meant he had pink skin underneath, so the poor beast had to wear a thin rug 24/7, Fun Ghoul knew this because of their conversation yesterday.
"Hi," Fun Ghoul replied, pricking his ears cheerfully "Is it true that we have a party for summer solstice?"
"Yes! And winter solstice too!" Patrick replied excitedly. Fun Ghoul snorted in anticipation.
"Sounds great!"
"Every year, Rebel picks someone from the herd to officiate the party and organise it! This year she chose my Pete!" Patrick neighed.
"So are you excited for this one?!" Fun Ghoul said getting excited.
"Of course, it will be amazing. This will be the most exciting one, you know what Pete is like!"
"I've heard many stories about this guy's tricks." Fun Ghoul said while chuckling to himself.
"Yes." Patrick said quietly looking down.
"Hey, are you alright?" The chestnut asked softly, his gold eyes scanning the stallion.
"Yeah, it just, sometimes his tricks get out of hand and I don't want him getting hurt or in trouble."
"Im sure he will be fine, he is tough." Fun Ghoul said to Patrick. The palomino looked up at him and smiled.
"Hey, we will be going out in the field soon!" Fun Ghoul said whilst he half reared against his door excitedly. Patrick nodded as the man walked into the yard and started to put headcollars on the horses.
Fun Ghoul was grazing with Patrick, Frankie and Drummer, two other sweet and playful stallion that Fun Ghoul had became friendly when Drummer suddenly said
"Are you guys excited for this party?" The three other stallions looked up.
"You bet, I am!" said Frankie, a buckskin appaloosa colt.
"It's going to be lively this year!" snorted Drummer.
"From what, I've heard!" Fun Ghoul replied.
"Pete won't let us down." Patrick said, practically glowing with pride. The quartet looked around for the handsome black but there was no sign of him.
"I haven't seen him in a while.." Patrick stated anxiously. Fun Ghoul knew Patrick had anxiety and was very dependant on Pete.
"he's planning something big," Drummer said "If I know that horse, then it will be the biggest it has ever been." Fun Ghoul was practically trembling with excitement. Frankie agreed with Drummer. Then as Fun Ghoul looked over to the forest, where the solstice party was to be held, he saw glowing gold eyes and a ebony shadow with a large sack dragging behind him, which was clutched in his mouth.
"It's Pete!" Fun Ghoul nickered. Pete heard him, his golden eyes grew large as he glared at Fun Ghoul and then he quickly hurried off. Drum, Frankie and Patrick all looked over just to see the parting flick of the black tail. Patrick ears pricked at the sight of the tail and then returned to normal as it disappeared.
"He was dragging a large sack." Fun Ghoul stated.
"Oh God..." Frankie said shaking his handsome buckskin head. Drummer didn't even look surprised. The sun shone on the backs of the four stallions as they lazily swatted the flies away as they looked over to where their herd mate had been.
"C'mon guys, lets leave Pete be." Fun Ghoul said, grinning at the other stallions as they all turned around and went to graze with the main herd of the stallions. That night Fun Ghoul barely got any sleep. About 1 'o' clock, the handsome stallion, Pete. quietly clopped in. Patrick's eyes shot open as he recognised the familiar smell of his mate. Fun Ghoul watched as the black walked over to the palomino with his golden eyes shining with happiness. Pete licked Patrick's cheek, muttered something to him and then headed off to his own stable. Fun Ghoul thought it was sweet. He wanted to sleep like the others but he was too excited for the next day's celebrations. About 4 'o' clock the small chestnut finally dozed off. Little did he know that Pete had headed back out again.
"Look alive, sunshine!" came a familiar voice. Fun Ghoul's eyes shot open to see Drummer giving him an evil grin from over the aisle. "It's solstice day!" The wild bay appaloosa stallion did a little piaffe at his door in excitement. Fun Ghoul nickered to him excitedly. The whole barn livened up as the first few bars of sunlight poured into the large barn. Soon the barn was alive with loud neighing and muttering from the horses. Today would be different. Today the horses were a lot more loud, upbeat and energetic.
Today was solstice day!
The horses eagerly kicked the door as some young humans came in a threw into their stables the horses' breakfast hard feed. That silenced the horses for twenty minutes but after a good meal, the horses were lively and hearty again! Fun Ghoul noticed a distinct silence from the next stable. Patrick's stable. He was quivering in the back of his stable and sweat was forming on his withers.
"What's up?" Fun Ghoul asked confused. The stallion looked up at him.
"He's gone again." In that instant Fun Ghoul knew who Patrick meant.
"B-but I heard him come in, I saw him come in?" Fun Ghoul said. If a horse could furrow it's brow, Fun Ghoul would have. "He s-said to m-me that he h-had caused something really big, l-like b-ba-bad." Patrick spluttered out. "I told him t-to leave it and get some sleep... he nodded and went to his stable. Why would he lie?" Fun Ghoul shrugged. He was concerned about the younger stallion and his missing mate.
"He'll turn up... I promise." Fun Ghoul faltered at the last few words. He couldn't promise something that he could not control or that he wasn't sure of the outcome. Patrick looked at him sympathetically, he knew Fun Ghoul had just said that to make him feel better. The chestnut stallion sighed as he snaked his head back into his own stable. He thought about the palomino and the black. He wondered what had happened.
Excitement unfolded in the field later on that day. The horses stood in their cliques neighing excitedly to each other. The four lads, Patrick, Drummer, Fun Ghoul and Frankie stood alone together
"So, you're saying Pete has got himself into trouble again?" Drum questioned Patrick after he had told them the events of the night.
"I'm sure nothing too bad has happened, after all he was just planning a party!" Frankie said jokingly. Fun Ghoul shot him an angry look. Frankie's laughing stopped abruptly. Patrick glared at him. The four horses stood in silence wondering what had happened to their herdmate. Later that night, all 35 of the horses gathered outside, where a large chimera stallion ,which Fun Ghoul had never seen before, stood beside Rebel. The seal bay and red dun chimera cleared his throat, he was quite a young stallion too but obviously, he had great authority.
"Tonight, we will celebrate the coming of the summer hosted by the troublemaker, Peter!" said the chimera stallion.
"Tonight, Peter has chosen has chosen to host the celebration in the forest." said Rebel, stepping up beside the chimera. There came loud whoops from the crowd. Then, Rebel turned and led the herd into the woods.
"His name is Raven." Frankie whispered to Fun Ghoul. Fun Ghoul nodded and looked at the chimera known as Raven. After a few minutes of trekking, the herd came to a huge clearing in the middle of the woods. The stars illuminated the sky and gasps were audible from the herd as they looked at the beautiful night sky.
"He may be an idiot, but he sure knows what beauty is!" came a whisper from a palomino mare with unique markings.
Fun Ghoul felt someone slide by him, he looked over to see Patrick.
"Where is he?" He whispered to Fun Ghoul, his soulful blue eyes bore into his heart.
"He's probably tweaking a few things!" Then Fun Ghoul noticed some huge speakers, he was confused. How had Pete got them?
"The owners help out with the celebrations you know!" said Drummer practically reading his mind. Fun Ghoul NoddedSuddenly, some hidden lights illuminated the sky. Purples, greens and blues. Excited mutters buzzed around. Then, the speakers came to life with some rock music. All the horses knew Pete liked rock music so they weren't spooked when it came on as they were used to it. One song came on and it fitted Patrick's mood perfectly. The first lyrics were 'where is your boy tonight?' when Patrick heard them his ears flicked and he looked at Fun Ghoul who shrugged. Then the horses noticed some food had been laid out at one side and the owners were attending to it. The horse split up into their groups. Drummer said to Patrick
"He's fine, have yourself a good time and stop worrying!" Patrick nodded. The worry left his eyes as he tried to have fun with the others. This lasted through the night and Pete still hadn't made an appearance. Nobody except Drum, Frank, Ghoul and Patrick had noticed though. Suddenly, the music was turned down as the horses turned to watch the sun rise. They all huddled together and the owner put their arm around one of the mares. The purple, green and blue lights shut off. The music shut off. Then, the sun made a clear shadow of something in the clearing. A lone horse. Gasps of shock as they looked at this eerie shadow. Suddenly, a loud neigh was heard.
"My name is Pete and I am your host for the summer solstice party 2015!"
Everyone saw the glowing gold eyes before the horse. Patrick couldn't believe it. The black horse stepped out of the shadow. He was sweaty, out of breath and blood dripped down his side. He heaved and then collapsed. "Hey Pete, what happened?" said a chestnut that Pete didn't know the name of.
"Oh, Im Fun Ghoul by the way." Fun Ghoul shook his mane. The poor stallion had been in the vets for three days having to undergo various operations after a punctured lung, a broken rib and severe wounds. Pete sighed weakly and then grinned.
"Well, story time guys." He croaked. Drummer called Patrick over, who hadn't noticed Pete had returned, and Frankie. Patrick galloped over and inspected his mate. He licked his face and stayed quiet to listen to the injured horse's story.
"Well, after I greeted Patrick that night, I went back to my stable and I overheard Uma and Shirley gossiping about me, they said id never pull the party off and i'd ruin it. So, I couldn't leave it at that, I had to show them, you know me," he grinned weakly, then continued. "So I went back out a few hours later, then I realised my mistake. The first time during the day I was out, I ran into wolves. I had disturbed them and they threatened me. If I came back out they said they'd attack me. I was scared, I didn't want any of the horses getting eaten. But anyway, when I heard Uma and Shirley gossiping about me, they new I had been confronted by the wolves and they said that they wished i'd get attacked. I went back out there, set the party up and I was coming over at Raven's speech when the wolves found me. They attacked me and I lost my sense of bearings, I got lost looking for the party. Then I heard the music and I followed it..." the black stallion groaned and then laid down on his side. Patrick rushed over and licked his neck.
"Im alright, just tired." The black stallion said his eyes fluttering a bit. "I just want to sleep." Patrick, Fun Ghoul, Drummer and Frankie left Pete to sleep it off. They joined the horses in the field and they were discussing on how well the party went and how it was really good and the best one ever. Fun Ghoul smiled and looked over to Patrick who was receiving congratulations for Pete. He was beaming with pride.
