ORIGINAL CHALLENGE POST

    so, I'm sure you're no stranger to challenges, ay? well, my buddy captain and I, we decided to make one of our own.
    inspired by the recent 1oo one shot challenges and a few prompts we happened to stumble upon, we put our heads
    together and came up with 1oo original prompts of our own. now, what sets our challenge apart from others? If you
    happen to finish all 1oo before anyone else, you'll get a reward ;3 sound good? well, good! here are your guidelines.

    da rules____________________________________________________________________
    -- ` captain and i won't be elligable for the prize, just to let you know.
    -- ` you must make your own thread and post the link here.
    -- ` you may only get the prize if you are the first to finish all 1oo.
    -- ` you can change up to 5 prompts, but must state which you changed in the post.
    -- ` all entries must reach at least 750 words. I will check.
    -- ` do be a good sport. the reward is just to inspire and encourage you to continue.
    -- ` You don't have to complete these in order!
    -- ` the prompts are just that - prompts. you don't have to include the words as dialogue.

Prompts:
“Little by little, day by day, okay?” // “Get. Off. Right now.” // “... That’s it.”
// “So, uh, we should… probably run now.” // “You’re insane! I love it.”
“Hey, I offered to help you.” // “Who’s laughing now?” // “Would you please just be quiet?”
“Whoa, buttercup, whoa.” // "I can’t believe you talked me into this." // “Marry me?”
“Hey! I was gonna drink that!” // “You did all of this for me?” // “This isn’t over.”
“If you die, I’m gonna kill you.” // “Well, this is awkward.” // “It was you who was standing there.”
“That is the stupidest idea you’ve ever had. Of course I’m in.”// “Hey, I’m with you, okay? Always.”
“Uh, she’s gunna punch you, man.” // “BAHAHAHA- ahem.”// “I think I am concussed.”
“You have got to be kidding me.” // “This ain’t that kind of movie.” // “Is it… dead?”
“I’ll just sit here and wait for you to be finished.” // “You wound me.” // “Trust you? PAH.”
“I don’t know who you are.” // “It’s okay. I promise. I’m here.” // “Oh, this is going to be good.”
“Well, I finally got your attention.” // “Like a hole in the head.”// “I'm... okay.”
“Well, are you coming?” // “Where are your pants!?” // “Help me push it.”
“It’s almost midnight, no way!” // “Positively smashing.” // “Don’t let go, okay?”
“You can’t leave me like this.” // “Say that to my mother.” // “Sing me a lullaby, please?”
“This hurts worse than I thought it would.” // “Hah! - oh, wait, you’re serious?”
“As much as I’d enjoy that…” // -gasp- “The plague!” “No!” “YES.” // “I won’t let you do this.”
“I’ve still got it.” // “I can’t do it. I just can’t.” // "Don’t you ever do that again!"
“I thought I lost you.” // "Teach me?" // "Don’t you dare throw that snowball-"
"It could be worse." // "We’re in the middle of a thunderstorm and you wanna stop and feel the rain?"
"I’ve seen the way you look at me when you think I don’t notice." // "What are you so afraid of?”
“How did you get that scar?” // “You said WHAT?” // “Can you stop bringing that up?”
“Wait for me!” // “We’ll be dead by morning.” // “STOP TALKING.” // “I do.”
“I don’t want to.” // “What did I ever do to you?!” // “Follow me.”
-SIGH- “I can’t reach it.” // “What are you waiting for?” // “WAIT NO THAT’S NOT WHAT I MEANT-”
“I don’t need you.” // “You deserve better.” // “If you love something, let it go.”
“Why do I have to wear this?” // “Here goes nothing.” // “Where the heck were you?!”
“I don’t need help.” // “We’re gonna be parents…” // “I didn’t think you knew.”
“I thought those were poisonous.” // “Don’t make me go alone.” // “I’m sorry… I didn’t know.”
“I’d be lost without you.” // “Just leave me!” // “I dare you to…” // “Run!”
“How did you manage that?” // “Liar!” // “I don’t even want to be here.”
“Oh crap, we fell asleep!” // “Is this the life you wanted?” // “GIVE ME THAT.”
“Get back here!” // “Let go of me!” // “I’ll just follow you.” // “YOU DON’T SAY.”
“And yet, you love me anyway.” // “I just thought I’d have a swim.” // “Don’t cry.”

“Whoa, buttercup, whoa.”

Postby Sandy Hoofprints » Sat Mar 28, 2015 4:49 am

"Whoa, Buttercup, whoa." I laughed into her mane as we galloped out across the deserted sands of Bundlewood Beach. I had a huge grin plastered across my face as my beautiful cremello mare really went for it. We had both missed the forgiving sands that force you to forget your worries. Once again truly at one with my horse, the sand and the sky.

~~~
Two years earlier we had left the tiny seaside town of Bundlewood in terrifying circumstances. We were being bombed during the civil war and I had to leave the only place I'd ever known, for fear of my life. By the time everything was organised we were nearly the last to leave. In our rural community I had lived alone since I was 14 and my parents died in a boating accident. I had lived in a little cabin by myself - the locals rarely talked to me. Horses and the sea were my life, those long exhilarating rides kept me sane, and it was bad enough leaving my beloved beach behind, but there was no way I was leaving Buttercup behind too. Since in the rush there was no way to transport her we had to travel by foot, alone.
The journey was long and tedious, and we carried heavy saddle bags plus my large hiking rucksack so it was physically draining. Sometimes I walked beside her Buttercup, and sometimes I rode either way we had to travel slowly. Buttercup is tough though so we did make it inland to stay with my aunt in Herdfields in three days without any serious problems. Buttercup's personality doesn't really fit her name, but then I wasn't the one who named her! She is strong-willed and very independent - definitely not the right horse for a young girl! But I was strong too. She learn to listen to me and I learnt to deal with her flaws.
Buttercup did not like Herdfields, she grew increasingly angry and depressed. She was moping around, refusing her food, ignoring the other horses, and even getting into fights with them. By the end of the two years I was at my wit's end, my family had put up with her enough and though they wouldn't say, I could tell they couldn't wait to get rid of us. So it was earlier than everyone xpected that I made up my mind - we were going home.
Making the definite decision perked me up, and I couldn't wait to bring Buttercup home. I slid the bolt across Buttercup's stable door and went in. She was facing the wall her eyes sad. I walked calmly over, put one hand on her neck and whispered in her ear, "beach". Her ears pricked up. It had been a long time since she had even heard that word and she turned her head warily towards me, hopeful. Buttercup could always read my emotions, and this was no exception, she knew from my face that I was overjoyed and she gently bumped my shoulder with her head and gave a soft whinny, her eyes bright once again.
The next morning I entered her stable and whilst I was tacking her and putting on the bags she turned and snuffled in my pocket at the apple I had planned for to keep for the journey. Pleasantly surprised at her returned appetite, I fed it to her and she nosed her way out the door, dragging me behind her.
We set off quickly and Buttercup couldn't contain herself, she trotted for a very long part of the way home with me on her back. When we stopped it was dark and I realised we had travelled two thirds of the distance - meaning that we were going twice the speed that we had originally left at! Along the road we met almost no one, we seemed to be the first people who had decided to return. The bombing had stopped, and I was sure it was safe, but perhaps the people would never go back, perhaps it left too many horrendous memories.
Early the next morning I felt something repeatedly and relentlessly nudging my side, when I gathered my senses I realised it was Buttercup - she had bitten through her tether rope, but was standing impatiently over me. I laughed as I sat up, "Yes, we can go now Buttercup!".
We gathered our belonging and left immediately, and we could see the sea by noon. It wasn't long before we came along the side route into the deserted Bundlewood and headed for our cabin behind the sand dunes, I stoped a short way away, Buttercup was becoming impossible to handle, ignoring my signals and throwing her head up.
I dismounted. Buttercup was dancing on her feet, and I knew that just like me she was itching for a ride on the sands, despite how exhausted we both were. Suddenly I dumped the bags down and jumped back up into the well-worn saddle.
"Whoa, Buttercup, whoa." I giggled, as she headed onto the lonely sands with glee.
