"Arthur! No!" Alfred grabbed the Englishman's hand and yanked
him away from the edge, throwing an arm around his shoulders; the rain continued
to pelt them, harsh and cold, but it had nothing on what would have awaited the
man if he'd fallen with the rocks and into the frozen lake the Earth had become.
"I've got you," said Alfred, rubbing Arthur's back. "You're safe, now."

Sealand, Canada, [Greece]

He would never get used to London. Iceland clicked his knuckles together and looked passed Sweden and Finland, just about able to look out the taxi window from where he was sitting between the other Nordics--not counting Denmark who'd snagged the front seat and was nosily talking to the driver in a broken-type English - it was miles better than it used to be, though.

For a while, Emil had slept using Norway as his pillow, but soon the roads had bounced him awake and the traffic jams had driven him to boredom. He glanced at the pay-count and inwardly groaned at the pound signs flashing across the dashboard. England would pay for them though, he normally did. Emil straightened his ribbon tie and quickly looked at Mr. Puffin's to make sure his was still done up and not hanging loosely from his neck like it had been on the plane.

He tried to listen in on other conversations in the taxi, but Berwald and Tino were talking in their own languages (and understanding each other, too), Norway was sleeping and Denmark was loudly remaking one of his adventures to the driver who looked about as happy as Germany.

Germany. That was a point; England was holding an 'emergency' World Conference to talk about all the recent snowfalls the World had been having; Iceland thought it was stupid, but he'd agreed to go because the other Nordic Nations were going and if something bad was to happen, at least the others wouldn't be all 'hush' to him about it because he didn't go to the 'super important' meeting in dreary old London. And, hey, it'd be nice to see everyone again.

"We're almost there." Finland's voice shook Emil from his daze and he looked up to confirm he'd heard the older Nation, nodding. Tino spoke again, this time a little louder, but still soft and brotherly, "Maybe you could wake Norge, too?"

Emil sighed. "Fine." It was the first time he'd spoken since meeting them at the airport. Iceland turned in his seat, pulling on the safety belt until it was looser and he could reach over to Norway's shoulders. He shook Lukas awake just in time for the centre to come into view and for the driver to pull up behind another taxi where Russia was helping Latvia out.

The driver said the price (with a very rude yawn) and asked about Arthur paying, to which Mathias confirmed and the driver helped them take their suitcases out before driving away.

"Hullo." Emil wasn't surprised to see Ivan already making his way over to greet them, his large scarf wrapped twice around his neck; it looked heavier than normal. He offered his gloved hand to Finland, smiling gently. "It is nice to see you all here."

"Nice to see you, too, Ivan," said Finland in his normal voice, happy and smile wide. "How have you been?"

"Very well." Ivan did not greet the others, passing Sweden a solid stare before venturing inside and pulling Latvia with him. "Come, Latvia."

Snow had started to fall and Iceland let Mr. Puffin slide into his jacket. "Hopefully we'll be able to make it home," said Denmark, absentmindedly and not as happy as usual. They made their way into the building and began up the staircase to where the low sounds of arguing was coming from; Lithuania was talking, loudly, to Poland at the top of the stairs, both holding large cups with their flags painted across them; the drinks smelled of coffee. They didn't stop their bickering to return the greetings the Nordics gave.

"Hej!" Mathias greeted the boardroom when he threw open the doors, eyeing the stern and downward glares most of the other countries had plastered across their faces. "Hm." The Dane was momentarily put off.

America waved. "Hello!" he shouted, gesturing for them to take their seats. England was standing near the blackboard, with two of his siblings (Wales and Scotland) standing either side of him; like normal, Ireland was nowhere in sight. Sealand was happily sipping at a hot chocolate, and only noticed the Nordics when Finland shouted something along the lines of, "Hei!"
    ╔════════════════╗
    ---'Hei' is Finnish for 'hello'.
    --'Hallå' is Swedish for 'hello'.

"Su-san!" greeted Peter, leaping off his chair to hug Sweden tight. The older country's face fell into a comfortable smile, muttering, "Hallå," as he ruffled the youngster's hair, knocking his sailor hat off.

England cleared his throat. "Nordics," Arthur greeted while shooing Dylan and Allistor to their seats. "Right, I believe we may start now as we all seem to be here."

Surprise lit Emil's eyes even as he took his seat in between Norway and Finland, looking up the lines of chairs to find everyone sat with drinks or food. Emil would eat once he and the others got to the hotel.

Arthur was speaking all while Emil was inwardly saying hello to the nations and countries, "I am deeply sorry to call you all here, but I think we're in trouble--a lot of trouble. Winter has only just begun and-"

"I'm here! I'm here! Sorry!" Canada threw open the doors and breathed a sigh of relief, snow sticking to his cheeks and his hair. "The-the snow's get-getting very thick out there." He heaved air back into his lungs. "My-my plane was the last allowed to-to land."

Arthur didn't seem fazed, gesturing only for Canada to sit, but Iceland's eyes were now on the Canadian sitting beside Greece and adjusting his glasses. The last plane allowed to land? Did that mean he was stuck in England now? Oh-- "Maple!" Matthew gasped, undoing his jacket to let his little bear out to breathe. "Sorry."

Emil turned back to Arthur as the gentleman spoke. "As I was saying... Winter has only just begun and yet our countries have suffered through more snowstorms then I've read back to - or can remember, actually," said Arthur, winded and cold and eyes downcast. "I think..." Emil leaned forwards, even though he could easily hear what Arthur was saying; his heart was in overdrive. "I think we're heading into a winter to end all winters."

"Any questions?" England asked his fellow countries, denying the bomber jacket America offered to him, beginning to take it off. "No, no. You need it more, dear."

Norway pursed his lips as Denmark leapt to his feet, slamming one palm against the table and waving the other around as wildly as his hairstyle. "Oh! Oh! We are having news! We are having news!" Mathias announced, sweeping a hand through the air towards the other Nordic Nations, lips pulled wide and teeth showing. "It snowed for two days straight all over Iceland, Finland, Sweden, Norway and, of course, the mightiest Denmark--King of Scandinavia."

"And Russia, too," added Ivan, adjusting his scarf.

"Denmark, that isn't anything to be happy about." England wrapped his arms around himself, his large winter coat muffling his accented speech. His pride would not be questioned, nor dented by Alfred's offer of his jacket; Arthur was thick-skinned, he could handle the cold. "The whole world's in a complete frozen spell!" He wasn't very used to snow - rain, yes, snow, no. "You should be panicking - like the rest of us."

"But, snow is so nice," Finland spoke up, tilting his head. "We've lived through lots of snowfalls before! I see no reason why this time is any different, ha-ha."

Lukas abruptly stood, setting his hands on the table beside Mathias's. "Why does this matter, Arthur?" he snapped, eyes narrowed. "We all know about the snow--we all know what's happening and what will continue to happen."

The Englishman pinched the bridge of his nose, looking at the Norwegian with tired eyes. "It matters because we... We don't know what'll happen, I mean-"

"What are you saying, England?" Lukas interrupted, much to the man's silent rage. "You call us, the Nordic Nations, here, and then go on to say you do not know what is to happen? The world is going to freeze and we will be in a new Ice Age!"

"And then the Vikings will rule again, woo!" Mathias said under his breath, ducking away from Lukas reaching for a grip on his tie. "I meant in, like, uh, years."

Austria cleared his throat, raising his posture. "I will be honest, I did not know what will happen. My country is not experiencing any snowfall."

"Nor is mine," Hungary agreed, twirling a strand of hair around her finger.

"They will," said France as he pulled at his scarf, then ran a hand through his hair to guide it back into place. "My country is covered in snow, mon ami - it will soon hit Germany, Hungary and Austria - in fact, I am surprised it has not."

"Maybe it is scared," said Ivan, twiddling his thumbs with a glance at Arthur. "The snowfall is scared of Germany, England! That is where we should go, da?"

America slammed his fists against the table, shaking its contents. Japan grabbed his drink as it flew into the air and took a sip before placing it back down. "We can't just do that, dude!" Alfred flailed, staring at Ivan in dismay. "I mean, sure! It'd be fun! But the Nordics's planes were, like, the last ones allowed to land!"

"I think that was Canada's actually," said Greece, blinking at Alfred.

"Yeah--yeah! Uh, yeah, it was." A blush spread across Alfred's cheeks, but it soon vanished as he hopped to his feet and knocked England off the raised podium and on to the floor beside Scotland's chair, who snorted and then leant back as his younger brother huffed out a breath, cold and tired and unable to get up without Sweden standing to help him into a seat. "Anyway!" Alfred continued, pushing up his glasses. "Dudes, this is bad!"

"We know that!" Arthur stamped the ground, keeping his elbows away from the table and his posture straight, head held high. "We know it's bad, Alfred! Otherwise we'd all be in our countries waiting for the next World Conference where we next have to glare at one another over the table!"

"To be fair, England," said Japan. "You are in your own country."

"Well, look what the cat dragged in!" Laughter made the countries look up as the doors burst open, banging against the walls like they weighed a total of nothing. Prussia's smile was to greet them, and in the background stood a Lithuania with a Poland looking over the man's shoulder at the ex-country, both whimpering in worry.

"Mr. Germany! I am sorry!" At Prussia's feet sat a dazed Italy. "I-I eavesdropped like you wanted. Prussia-Oof!" His words were cut short by Gilbert's boot on his lower back, holding him to the carpet.

"Yes--eavesdropping on my conversation with Austria - he then stuck around to fall asleep in the cupboard," Prussia laughed, sweeping his hair back to show his crimson-red eyes. "It is lovely that you distrust me, little brother."

    ╔══════════════════════╗
Prussia was officially abolished in 1947.
    ╚══════════════════════╝

Arthur gestured for the ex-country to sit, and Prussia did, leaning back to put his boots on the table and stare childishly at those around him; even though he was no longer a country, he went to the World Conferences when allowed; they were a delight break from routine. "Nice of you both to join us," said Arthur, watching Italy scramble into his seat beside a glowering Germany. "We were just discussing what to do about the snowfall."

Prussia's eyebrow rose, still sporting his toothy smile of canines. "Snowfall? I think you should be talking about the snowstorm outside, no?" He looked at the confused, scared faces. "Have you not seen out the windows? Have you not seen what is happening--has happened to London?"

The room turned cold and from his seat Iceland rose, hurrying over to push the button for the curtains to open all at once and show the gathered countries just what had happened to London--or, at least, what they could see of London.

    Arthur fainted.
