Ivy lay on her bed, leaning over and absently rifling through a cardboard box. I should actually put this stuff away soon. she thought. I've been living here for months and I've still barely moved in. She stopped suddenly as something caught her eye. A small, red book. On its cover was a sticker of a mac and cheese noodle with googly eyes. She picked it up gingerly and began to page through it. Finally, she reached an empty page. She grabbed a random pen off her end table and began to write.
Dear Noodle,
God, it's been so long. I still think about you every now and then. Man, I was a cringy kid. Oh yeah, I'm supposed to start this with a selfie, aren't I?
Hold on, that one doesn't look good. I think I've lost the 'this isn't a diary' magic.
There we go! That's better. Oh yeah, I dyed my hair green. And I got a pet snake. Ugh, writing in you in red pen just doesn't feel right. One second.Much better. Man, it's crazy to think that back when I was writing this my biggest worry was the evil elements. They ended up just being a red herring to distract us from Zander's real plans. We dealt with him though. Well, for the most part. He pops back up every now and then, but he's pretty much just a cartoon villain. He shows up, monologues about taking over the world while robbing a bank or kidnapping someone, we have a dramatic fight scene, then he leaves before he can be too badly hurt. We haven't had too much real conflict in a while though. We've mostly just been helping Aldorf by showing up in Dreams and teaching other elementals about their powers. It's kinda like an internship. And we've learned a lot about our powers, too. I can do more than just shoot vines and talk to animals.
Ah shoot, Aldorf needs me. I've got some new kids to train or something. See you in a bit.
Damn, it's just another board meeting. We have one every month, where we talk about how the previous month went, what we hope to do for the future, yadda yadda yadda. I think its unnecessary. Maybe if there was someone we were fighting and we needed to strategize or something, I could see it. But instead, we just sit around and talk about our new recruits and stuff. The thing I look forward to most is when bakes cookies for the meetings, and they aren't even that good of a baker. Oh yeah, Spark is nonbinary by the way. And Flashfire, River, Breezy, and I are dating.Flashfire: "Ivy, will you please pay atte- wait, is that the noodle?"Me: "Yeah. I found it while I was putting stuff away and I figured I might as well start writing in it again, for old times' sake."
We had some nostalgiac chatter about the noodle for a bit before Aldorf interrupted us.Aldorf: "Ladies, gentlemen, and other council members, please quiet down. Now, it is time for this month's meeting. Today we'll be discussing..."I've already stopped paying attention. I stare into a corner, planning what I want to eat for dinner after this meeting's done. It doesn't last long, though, since the sound of Flashfire yelling and falling forward onto the table as she's stabbed in the back of the neck quickly brings my attention back.
I'm back bitches! I've been wanting to revisit this story for a while, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I'm starting to plan out an awesome plot and I can't wait to share it with you guys! In case it isn't clear from the ending, it's going to get a bit,,, grittier. Nothing crazy, but there'll be a bit of gore n stuff, so if that squicks you out maybe stop reading here. I'm so excited to be back to working on this! See you guys!
