Hey y'all. Most of my stories have been fanfics, which I'm not saying I don't like fanfics, but I want to write other stuff too. I just seem to have no inspiration. Any tips?

      *claps* great speech
I tend to put down my work a lot but most of the time I didn't exactly... try too hard (?) so it's okay to me, you know?
Like if I am trying to write something, I'm usually more confident in it than if it was just something I started in the spur of the moment.

Also, I reallllyyy agree with the part about not staying quiet. A compliment on anything, really, it can make someone's day. And I'm the type of person who really takes compliments, and they make me feel better - even if it's already a great day. I take critiques in a good way, but I also like stay up at night thinking about them, lol.

i usually take my original writing and try to mix it with something else thats (mostly) very different, at 1st a little bit then more and more until you get the feel for it and stuff.

Well. if i come across something i never do, i try to do it.
like genres specifically. i am really squimish with fantasy.
but have been contemplating what i can do to tackle that.

Captain good speech

How do you branch out from your writing "comfort zone"?
Hnng
Well, it really starts with the ideas. You can't write fantasy if you don't have a fantasy idea, or about animals if the idea is about people.
So if you have an idea that's outside of your comfort zone, the best thing to do is develop it a lot. Don't try to force your style, write how you always have.

How do you branch out from your writing "comfort zone"?

Well, I personally search for short story contests and use that as a starting point.
I try and select something that I have not tried before or is a weak subject for me (such as horror).
Then I write and keep writing until I feel like I have accomplished something.

that was the motivation of champions.
      whoa.
and uh, if anyone is interested, i've finish the prologue to my story counterparts c:

How do you branch out from your writing "comfort zone"?
whenever i stray from my comfort zone, i still try to stick with themes or ideas that entertain/interest me.
like, i'm not good very good at writing horror or like deep fantasy stuff, so when i dabble in those genres, i
stick to topics connected to them that i particularly find myself super interested in.
that way the writing is still fun, even if i'm nervous about doing a not-so-good job.

How do you branch out from your writing "comfort zone"?
Go somewhere calm to think and think of ideas. This helps with
writing any story, and you could think of it anywhere; in the
shower, laying in bed at night, doing homework, anywhere. Try
to think of things that would inspire you to do whatever genre
you want to try, like if it's fantasy, watch a mystical movie or
read a fantasy book you like. And remember to plan, don't just
force yourself because you want to write it. Ideas will come
      eventually. c;

ooh guys i have a new story idea

don't know if i should delve deeper into it

kinda based off of a roleplay with rl friends

A group of five people - a medic, a first contact communicator, a pilot, a mechanic, and an ex-space marine - are called together by a space official to assist her and a ship in taking down a rogue AI spaceship that thinks that a war that has been over for years is still going on. They go, but fail. The group now has to go and destroy this ship.
