In the middle of a snow covered forest a small fox trotted along, her red coat illuminated by the small amount of sun shining through the trees. A mouse dangled from her mouth steadily bouncing along with her. It was the dead middle of winter and prey was scarce. She was thankful she had caught at least a meager meal. A destiny action was pre planned as she walked along, head held high to avoid losing sight in the tall snow drifts. Finally she reached a tree, a door left slightly ajar signifying that it was a house. Strangely it was much larger than the fox, the door big enough for a very tall human. Still, she slipped inside, ready to eat her well earned meal.

After she had eaten, the fox curled upon a chair and fallen asleep. That is until a knock sounded on her door. An ounce of fear caused the fox to jump up, startled by the visitor. "Come in!" she called. A rather short woman with dark hair a shade of copper that almost made it seem tainted. The woman stomped her boots on the ground, causing the snow to fall from her boots. Lowering her dress and pushing her curls from her face she turned to face the fox.

"Still nothing?!" she asked. She seemed exasperated as she looked at the fox.

The fox scowled, "No. Nothing." she said, note of fear in her voice.

"When I got your letter i couldn't read half of it. Tell me how all of this happened." she demanded.

"Well, I was planning on going to the stream to see what I could catch before it froze, and while I was there a few wolves came by and warned me that a stranger was passing through the forest. Since I am supposed to look out for the forest I said to myself I need to know who is coming through. So I took on my hawk form to go and search for this newcomer. While I was out I spotted someone walking down a deer trail." she paused to remember the details. "He was a hunter." this made the fox's guest squeak. "He had no respect for the land, everything he touched seem to radiate with filth. Phhh. Little did I know he was no ordinary hunter. I went to reason with him, and he threatened me! So, when I turned into my fox form and got ready to flee, he stole my powers!"

The leafy looked disturbed, her fear a little bit exaggerated. "With your powers stolen... Then who is going to look out for the forest?" she asked with her hand over her mouth.

The fox sighed. "I don't know. Im worried too. This winter has lasted for a long time. By now I am normally making sure the blossoms of spring are breaking through the snow. Its not natural. I've had to eat RODENTS! Can you believe that. Im losing my mind." the moment she looked down her guest let loose a wide grin. With the old forest guardian without her powers, she could easily take her place...

"You know, I want given a forest to watch over. I could keep the forest in tip too shape until you track down the hunter who stole your powers..." she offered with false sorrow.

A new light came into the fox's eyes as she was made the offer. "Oh would you! Then I must immediately." she said heading out into the snow. The previous guardian was unaware to the fact that she had been fooled. Now she wandered off alone in search of the man who had stolen her powers.

Here we go!

-----I walked up to the old waterfall, reaching out and letting the water flow over my fingers. I stepped closer, something persuading me to walk under. To the other side of the falls. Ever since I was a baby, I knew it was my destiny to discover something behind the falls. Now was the time. I had no idea what was hidden back there, no idea what danger was back there, but I would trudge on.
-----I stuck my arm in, the icy water soaking my skin, then something, or someone, grabbed me, and pulled me through. I saw a shadow run away, and chased after it. The shadow stopped, out of no where, and was visibly a person with a dragon on their shoulder. "Around to corner, up the bend, hidden times, and lost souls." The person said, then disappeared out od thin air. "Around the corner," I repeated, "Up the bend, Hidden times, and lost souls?" I stood to think for a minute. "A riddle!" I shouted.
-----"Around the corner, turn left, up the bend, go straight, and find something hidden, and someone lost!" I ran the way the riddle told me to, and came across a young girl, about my age, sitting, holding a glowing blue gemstone. "Th-thank you, for saving me." She stuttered wearily as I helped her up, grabbing the crystal from her hands.
