Other: nothing"Faster you snail or we'll never get there on time." Red teased in delight. Looking over his shoulder he slowed a bit seeing his friend lagging. The rust colored unicorn eyed his friend suspiciously. When he was side by side with the silver unicorn his friend looked up with a spark in his eye and darted off. "Come on Storm, I thought you were a fair player." He said catching up rather quickly.
"Ha, I thought you knew me!" Storm scoffed as he ran. Hooves beat the moist forest floor as the two raced to get to the top of the hill. Slowing down as they grew closer more shapes could be seen congregating. The two unicorns kept their distance only watching.
There on the very top of the hill, looking very out of place was a pegasus, long black and white mane falling over his eyes. Some considered him the peacemaker, the one who kept the two species from their constant fighting. Hoofsteps behind the two unicorns alerted them to a newcomer, and they feared they were going to get busted for eavesdropping. A sigh of relief passed through the two when they recognized their friend.
"Did I miss anything?" The Pegasus asked curiously. Her small white frame fit neatly between the two as they stood quietly in the woods.
"Nothing so far. I think they are just waiting for everyone to get there. Well, everyone important at least." Red snorted with irritation. Never allowed to such discussions he always took it upon himself to sneak around and listen in. "Quiet! They are starting."
The black and white Pegasus raised his wings silencing the group. As the clamor died down he lowered his large wings and cleared his throat. A deep voice emanated from the speaker, drawing the last few in who weren't aware they were starting. "First off, I would like to apologize for calling you all here on such short notice." he said eyeing the crowd. Whatever was about to go down was serious. "The reason you are all gathered here is because something rather distressing is happening in our homeland. Deeper in the mountain range an earthquake has disturbed a dormant volcano." His pause brought forth whispers. "We will be moving closer to your lands in order to avoid the ash and remnants from the explosion." Cries broke forth at such a simple request. Never before had the unicorns and the Pegasus lived so close together, and it would be bound to trouble no matter what.
"What about us?" Questioned a unicorn. "These have always been our lands, and the mountains have always been yours. What if we decline your request?"
A look passed over the Pegasus, one that was dark and full of emotions. Stomping his massive hoof on the ground he silenced the group once more. His voice boomed out in anger, something that the unicorns had never seen in the peacekeeper. "This? This was NOT a request. We are moving into these lands." his icy gaze kept everyone quiet. "You have become selfish, petty creatures. Whenever you needed help, we gave it to you. The one time we ask for something you try and withhold it from us. This is not a request. It is something of fire importance that will not be flicked away. Your land is large enough to support more than my people and yours doubled." He said, his anger dying. "All I ask is that you at least try and embrace the idea." He said before looking away. "Tomorrow, my people will come here seeking refuge. I suggest you give it to them." He said before spreading his wings. With one large sweep he was rising above their heads and disappearing into the sky.
The three hiding in the brush looked at each other. "What do you think the unicorns will do?" Rain asked softly. She sounded afraid, unsure of what would come of the situation.
"I think that the unicorns will have to live with it. Most of them are too cowardly to do anything more than complain. I'm not saying it won't be a challenge though." He said already thinking of how much bickering and arguing and lying was going to take place. "I hope nothing serious comes from this." He sighed watching the dumbfounded unicorns stare at each other.
"I hope so. Otherwise we are in for a long hard time." Rain whispered sadly. "I need to be with my family. I need to make sure everyone gets here okay. My brother isn't a strong flyer." She said before taking off, leaving the two wo wonder what tomorrow would bring.
Wow that was fast! Thank you so much!
