Through The Gate
Two young boys ran together: one had black hair, one blonde. The dark haired boy grinned playfully at his twin brother. His twin grinned back, they stopped as they approached a large gate; the boy with the black hair reached for the gate “Wait, Mars!” yelled the light haired boy. Mars glanced back to see his brother holding onto his other hand; Mars clenched the leopard plushy in his hand and then looked at his brothers wolf toy. He tilted his head to the side, “Come on Phoenix it will be fun!” he complained looking at Phoenix pleadingly. His brother sighed, “Okay, we can go but remember what mother said –““be home before dusk, I know” Mars interrupted rolling his eyes, “It will be fun just the four of us, you, me, Emerald and Stone” he spoke with a hint of mischief in his voice. Phoenix spoke , “well our plushies aren’t really people”, “of course they are!” Mars exclaimed with excitement gleaming in his eyes. The boys reached for the gate, they pulled it open their eyes flickered like flames : Phoenix’s silver and Mars’ gold. The boys screamed each other’s names in unison as the light of the sun faded as they fell into eternal darkness.

Ra, The Demon Of The Sun
Mars’ black hair covered his ghastly white skin; as the light faded out of sight he could see the eerie glow of his eyes, one of his eyes returned to its dark color but the other stayed the same. He could taste the foulness in the air and finally he felt the ground; his hands hurt and his body was covered in wounds, he could taste blood and he coughed, the crimson red liquid trickle out of the corner of his mouth. He could hear water running in the distance but was too weak to move. He heard a growling and reached for his plushie but could find it. The boy wasn’t scared as he saw a fox like creature appear from the darkness. It was small and sleek like a fox but it had flowing golden fur covered in black spots which looked like shadows cast upon its rich pelt. The creature looked like a mix between a fox and a leopard, Mars’ eyes were peeled open with shock, he realized what this creature was, Emerald. He hear a whisper in the back of his mind, it was the creature but not with his mouth but through telepathy. The voice was stern and commanding; it spoke, I am Ra, god of the sun.
Mars was shocked as he heard the voice, it ran up is spine like frost across the winter branches. The creature, Ra, approached him; Ra lifted him off the ground onto to his back. Mars felt the warm fur underneath him. It reminded him of when the sun comes out after the rain but there was no sun here or even rain for that matter.
The boy could he the water getting closer, he realised the water was really thick. Ra stopped and gently rolled Mars off his back; Mars painfully pushed himself up, the river’s water will heal you, Ra said his voice lingered in the back of Mars’ mind like a shadow. Mars looked into the water; he could see the reflection of his eye in the water. The boy felt Ra’s paw shove him into the water. His head submerged into the thick liquid, he pressed his eyes shut as his lungs gasped for air. He sank to the bottom of the river, he no longer felt the need to breathe there was the daunting thought in the back of his head – I am dead.
The water went through Mars; the boy wasn’t even pushed by the strong current: he saw Ra swim down looking for him. Mars looked at himself; he was turning transparent and started to fade into the black waters. He shut his eyes and let the water flow past him. A sharp pain pierced the back of his neck; his eyes flickered open as the pain struck him I am alive he thought realising the truth. He could only see the black waters and the golden fur from Ra’s legs and his paws swimming furiously. He dragged Mars back up to the surface.
“Feuro” Ra yelled at Mars but not though telepathy but through his mouth. Mars later learnt that Feuro was an insult used if you had done something incredibly dumb. Mars coughed up some water, he looked around to see that it was night, two moons where in the sky; he knew he was not at home. “You nearly became part of the River Draco” Ra yelled at him, Mars cowered back in apologetic manner, “Sorry; I thought I was dead…” Mars paused and then spoke again, “and how come you can talk to me and it isn’t all dark?” Ra sighed as a sign of forgiveness, “ I don’t blame you just scared me, that river is called River Draco, in English that means the river of serpents but Draco is also called the river of souls.” Mars shivered, “the river of souls” as the last word rolled off his tongue felt something crawl up his spine.

THE BRINGER OF DEATH
Phoenix looked at the jackal – a mix between a fox and a wolf – the creature whose pelt was as black as night, glaring blood red eyes challenged him as the creature made a hideous gargling noise. The creature pushed the wounded boy into a river. Phoenix wounds stung he winced in pain as the water sent him downstream. His head submerged he looked at the water it was a beautiful opaque white the water swirled gently the boy no longer struggled for air, he climbed out of the river to see the jackal was there, it went up to him and curled himself around the boy like a cat after it scratches your and then sees you holding sardines. Phoenix was just annoy but he realised he it wasn’t dark anymore, he looked in the sky and saw two moons, well this place is a little weird, he thought look at his surrounds he saw that he had made a small pool of water and to his surprise the water was clear. He looked in the water and saw his reflection, his ear stuck out of the side of his head, horn poked out for underneath his golden hair. His right eye was blazing silver and he could see small fangs poking out from under his top lip he open his mouth to talk and noticed a black forked tongue, “That’s me” he said in shock.

The Three Rivers
Mars turned around to see a wolf the size of his palm clinging on to his shirt. The child picked up the small figure and placed it in his hand, he blinked in surprise think it wasn’t real: the canine had three heads. Ra looked growled at the creature, “a baby Cerberus, playful young creature. Would you like me to throw it into the river?” Mars looked at Ra in horror the boy spoke, “I have no idea what that river does but this thing is adorable even though it has three heads”, Ra shook his head, “it has three heads, lion’s claws and a mane of snakes”. Mars looked again at the creature; it had everything Ra mentioned, the fluffy brown dog had three heads, around its neck brown snakes had woven themselves together it form a collar around the small Cerberus necks.
Each head had a different coloured snake, they were all a shade of brown, the head furthest the left had a pale brown colour, almost white, with what looked like brown lace wrapped around the outside woven together like leather braided together to form a collar the only thing was at the bottom three snakes heads flickered their tongues scenting their surroundings. The positioned in the centre was basically the same but the snakes were more a nut brown with black and white lace patterns decorated on the snake, the snakes where twisted not braided; two snake heads poked out. The final head was wrapped in a snake that looked almost black; it was coated in a hazelnut coloured lace it was wound round the dog head once, it reached its single head across the final heads muzzle and hissed at Mars, peeling back it lip to show huge fangs dripping with clear liquid. Mars could foresee the outcome, he was doomed. He shut his eyes and braced himself; he could feel lion claws digging into his skin. Ra stepped back and laughed, “I told you we should have thrown it into Draco.” Mars open his eyes with shock at Ra’s cruelty, “you are a god” he screeched in terror, “can’t you help me?” Ra just laughed in reply. Mars saw all the snakes had drawn their fangs. Pain struck. 5 pairs of parallel lines were drawn on his hand, the first three pairs were white, the next two were brown and the last two lines were black. Ra shrugged (it looked really strange because he was an animal) “It formed a bound with you; it is yours now, your companion, you have to feed it, you have to look after it” he spoke blank of expression. Mars groaned, “I don’t want to look after it!”
Ra snorted, “You shouldn’t have kept it”
“But I didn’t want to kill it!”
“The river won’t kill it”
“Well how was I supposed to know that?”
“I suppose you are right”
Mars looked at the Cerberus, “I have two questions for you: does it have a name? And what do I feed it?”
“It doesn’t have a name and it will eat small demons”
“There are demons in this world!” Mars said in shock.
Ra made a noise that sounded like a wind chime then he spoke to Mars through telepathy, look at you. Mars yelled back at him with his mind saying, can you just talk normally! Mars looked in the water he looked the same but one of his eyes were gold, he look closer, the black water showed that he had two pair of horns on his head and a tail, he also had pointed teeth and a forked tongue. He stumbled back in horror; the creature in the water had pointed ears which had pointed ear which were placed like he had to horizontal cone stuck where his ears were. He looked at Ra, “was that a demon in the water” the boy asked in shock, Ra tilted his head to one sided and then the other, “yes and no” he said, “it was a demon but it was also you so in other word that demon is you”. Mars’ jaw dropped in response.
