Hello, and welcome to a Create Your Own Adventure game (or CYOA) written by DragonCommander! In this game, YOU make the choices!

How It Works
How a CYOA works is quite simple, really. I will post a piece of writing, and you will decide on what happens next in the storyline. I will have a poll up to determine what happens. The option with the most votes wins, and I post the next piece of writing according to that idea. It's pretty easy, isn't it?

Background
Before I begin writing and you begin playing, I’ll give you a bit of backstory for the world the story takes place. The main character, [to be decided], lives in a dystopian post-apocalyptic world known as Zoëleor.
Zoëleor used to be a prosperous country, full of sparkling cities and kind people. Then, beings known to the common folk as Darkened Imps or simply Beasties, and to the more professional people as Pseudomortesaurs (SOO-doe-MORT-eh-sor/s), migrated to this prospering country with the innocent intention of claiming the land, believing it to be unpopulated.
The citizens of this fertile and wealthy land were surprised, but not alarmed, and quickly a treaty was forged. The people were happy to aid the Darkened Imps in their quest to bring back their own dying species. But soon, the Imps grew too numerous, and supplies in the land wore thin along with the patience of the leaders.
The people living there called for war, and a bloody battle began. In the end, the Darkened Imps won over the people, and only a few straggling survivors remained. Robyn lives in the smoldering ruins of a port city called Washburne.

Today, Reader, you shall decide on Robyn's next course of action. What she does is determined by you. The outcome of her actions is determined by random.org.

Melee attack - Should Robyn single out a weak deer and dart in with her knife? Possible benefits: Food, if she succeeds. Possible downsides: No food, if she fails. The deer will flee if she fails, and there will be no more opportunities to get food tonight.

Ranged attack - Should Robyn fire her slingshot bolts at one deer? Possible benefits: Food, if she succeeds. She doesn't have to select the weakest target; any will do. Possible downsides: Loss of some of her slingshot bolts, if the deer run away before she can kill one.

No attack at all - Robyn should just leave the deer alone, and wait for another food opportunity to come along. She can always eat grass. Possible benefits: No innocent deer die. Possible downsides: Robyn might go hungry another night.

Robyn - Robyn is a 16-year-old girl with a quiet, shy demeanor. Her parents died before she was thirteen in a mine cave-in, and she had no loved ones left to lose after the war, so that didn't change her all that much. She is sharp-witted, and though she doesn't speak often, when she does her tongue is acid. She is a reserved person. A black wolf whom she dubbed Nico began following her around, and she regards it as a pet. She has dark brown hair and icy blue eyes. She lives hidden in the partially-intact remnants of a big port city, knowing that she will fare better on her own, despite the fact that there are other survivors living in this city. Robyn carries a slingshot, a dagger, and a shortsword.

Survival - Robyn is merely trying to survive as long as she can.

Chapter One: The Adventure Begins
Robyn crouched low in the grass, which swayed gently in a cool breeze. The dry fronds brushed against her pale skin, irritating her a little. She was calm, placid, as she stared unblinkingly through the brush.
Several young deer nibbled lazily at the sparse growing blades. Their brown tails flicked, their large brown eyes drifting.
Robyn breathed in their smell, trying not to perspire. She knew that if she did sweat, and the wind suddenly changed directions, the deer would catch her scent and flee.
Her stomach growled gently, and a young doe raised its head and wiggled its nose, but Robyn froze and the deer seemed undisturbed. She relaxed slightly, though her stomach still gurgled, a painful reminder that she had eaten little in several days.

Her hiding spot was on the outskirts of the wharf town. The city was near enough to the ocean that there were plenty of fish in the storerooms, but at this point, the food was questionable, and the way they reeked made Robyn's stomach do flips.

So she crouched silently in the underbrush, debating what to do.
