Will's Vacation

Postby Kitty~. » Tue Aug 20, 2013 10:17 pm

This is some tryout art for one of the Hannibal-based kias I'm trying out for, William Graham. Since I'm doing so much art, I thought I should mix things up a little seen as it's difficult for me to get to my tablet very often whereas I can get to a writing instrument at any time. Please don't post anything until I give the all clear.

Will's Vacation

Will’s wide blue eyes looked up from under his lashes. They were the type that a guy didn’t care for and a girl would die for – elegant and long, much like a butterfly’s wings. He blinked tiredly and rubbed his bright orbs with his soft paws. His week had consisted of late nights – ones of which he’d barely been getting any sleep for. It was just – he was working on a case and he was so close he could almost taste it.

“You look fatigued, William.”

Will stole a glance in the direction of his psychiatrist, the charming, popular Hannibal Lector, curled up on his chair with a leisurely look spread across his features. Biting back a sarcastic reply – ‘Whatever gave you that idea, doctor?’ – he stretched flashed his attention to the fellow kiamara.

“I’ve had a few late nights,” he answered honestly. His tail twitched anxiously by his side, the blue feathers fluttering against his fur with an almost reassuring touch.

Dr Lecter hummed, his full attention focused on his patient. “Another case?” he asked.

Will gave a curt nod in reply. At the very mentioning of the case, his mind screamed to finish it. It was an insistent urge that didn’t appear to leave him. The only plausible solution would be to answer the urge, he told himself. However, this didn’t seem to be doing anything for his health or thinking process. A lack of sleep produced sluggish reactions, both mental and physical. That little voice in the back of his mind continued to pester him still, ensuring that even the mere thought of sleep was useless.

“Has the idea of a vacation crossed your mind yet?” Hannibal pressed. “It could be good for you, you know – getting away from work. It has proved to be increasingly stressful to your health, Will.”

Will shook his head, his dark, chocolate-y locks falling over his face in gentle curls. “Certainly, but…”

Dr Lecter leaned closer. “But?”

“All these people – they need me and-“

“William Graham,” Hannibal said. He stood to his paws, his long, ominous antlers making him look much taller than he was. “Trust me. It’ll be good for you. Go take a holiday and return when you feel the need.”

Will's Vacation - 1

Will could not comprehend why Hannibal insisted on him leaving town for a week or so, nor could he imagine how he had convinced him. Despite the puzzling questions, all answers appeared to lead him to the conclusion that there was no escaping the fate that the fellow kiamara had planned.

Which is how he ended up on a Californian beach. He wasn’t particularly fond of the shore. It smelt of fish, sunscreen and salt and the sand was near-blinding on a bright, summer day. And if the beaches weren’t crowded enough, the water was even more so with saturated, furry heads sticking out of the water. He wondered whether it was a place of enjoyment or rather an ideal location to search for a mate as many of the females seemed very intent on picking up any worthy kia.

He huffed and rested his head against his paws, his tail swishing irritably behind him. Perhaps it was wrong and unnatural to possess such a distaste for the coast, but Will couldn’t quite help it. He swore, the next volleyball that hit him would be the last and undoubtedly end up in a mass of deflated rubber.

“Hey!”

William’s eyes flickered upwards towards the direction of the sound. A petit female kiamara stood before him. She was dotted with pastel-like colours and had peculiarly long ears. He gazed at her, arching an eyebrow and repressing the urge to be impolite. There was no reason to be rude simply because he was grumpy, after all.

“Yes?” he returned.

She grinned when she received an answer, revealing her bright white teeth. “Want to join us?” she asked. He gave her a questioning glance, unsure of what she meant until she gestured towards a game of beach cricket.

Will shook his head. Last time he checked, this meant ‘no’, but clearly the kiamara didn’t understand the universally-used indication and instead, tugged at his wrist, bringing him to his feet. He stumbled, his glasses almost falling clear off his nose.

“Come on!” she said. “It’ll be fun!”

Will Graham suddenly decided that vacations were much more stress than they were worth.

Will's Vacation - 2

Postby Kitty~. » Sat Aug 24, 2013 6:57 pm

After beach cricket, Will had somehow managed to get back to his apartment unharmed. Sure, his glasses were a little cracked and he was 90% sure that one of the batters had purposely hit the ball at his head, but other than that he was fine.

A long dreary sigh left his lips as he curled up onto the couch. He'd had three showers already and he still found sand in places he didn't even knew he had, but he supposed he did have a little fun. A little. A smidgen. Not enough to make this vacation worth it, he noted to himself. No, he doubted anything could make his vacation truly worth it.

He stared at the television, internally debating whether to turn it on. He'd never been much of a fan for tv other than the daily kia news - and he received most of that through his work anyway. With a shrug of his shoulders, he pressed the power button on the remote and the screen flickered on. Upon it were two kiamaras, one in a blue scarf and the other in a sweater. He arched an eyebrow, intrigued. It appeared to be a cop show, of sorts. Curiously, he decided to watch it for a few minutes to see how it was. And as the title screen rolled, her noted that it was called Sherlock, after the famous book series.

- Later -

William stared at the screen, his eyes wide as John Watson stood before the tombstone. Even he, a special investigator, hadn't seen this coming. He hadn't recovered from the fall, his jaw slack and his cracked glasses slipping off his nose. That's when the famous anti-hero returned to the screen and Will lost it, throwing the remote.

"Who would be so sadistic as to do that to us?" he whispered.
