Greetings, bystander! This is simply a prompted writing contest for everyone and anyone. Prompts shall be provided for you; everyone will be allowed to write in any way they please, but either way, your piece of writing will have to be based on what you choose, and you will have to incorporate the prompt to the best of your ability. You will have the same prompt as the person next to you, but just to warn you, any and all plagiarism that I see happening/is reported to me shall be reported directly to a mod. But, we don't need to worry about that, do we?
There is going to be a word limit just to keep your dear Rosie and Zuchi sane, but don't worry, it's nothing too small; your short story/prose must be 5,000 words or under. Now, don't worry- if you desperately need more room than that, you can message me and we can work something out. Neither of us bite
Judging shall start on August 6th- that gives you a whole month to finish this, so I won't be too keen on extending, sorry, although I will if it's really needed. Judging will be based one a few things:

➤ technical things- periods [fullstops], commas, sentence structure, did you use semi-colons right, etc.
➤ creativity- did you incorporate your inspiration well?, did you create something everyone else didn't? challenge yourself. Really, if it comes down to two entries, if I think one person went with what they found to be easy, and the other went above and beyond in challenging themselves, I may favor the latter.
➤ just the writing itself- did the story pull me in? Did it flow well, or is the story sort of choppy?
➤ and of course, personal preference

This is obviously a list of what is allowed, not allowed, and asked for. We expect these to be followed to a T, and if not, expect a disqualification. Yes, we can do that, although I probably wouldn't- We're lenient. I can't imagine it happening, but it needs to be said, just in case.

➤ First and foremost, there will be no arguing with the person running this- Rose or Zuchi. Once I've made a decision, that's that.
➤ Regarding when it comes to judging, no bullying will be tolerated. Simply congratulate the person who won and move on please. Imagine how you would feel if you won and everyone whined about it- not great, is it? So don't do it. You'll simply be reported and we'll move on.
➤ No plagiarizing/copying ideas from someone else. This will immediately be reported, and dealt with by a mod, not me.
➤ No spamming the thread. However, questions and everything are of course allowed, I just don't want this to get locked if everyone is off topic. Post all questions regarding anything here, or message Rose or I them.
➤ Be kind to everyone else participating. Failure to do so will result in a report and disqualification.
➤ You may only enter once. Simply post saying you're entering and, and you shall be put up with your entry. Please provide a link to where you are going to be writing it- a specific post please. It may be in a thread of your own, this thread, or somewhere offsite. [neither of us mind if the story is not CS appropriate, simply make it on a different site, but do not post your link on the thread, message it to both of us]. It's really just to help us keep everything organized
➤ There is no right answer. I just wanted to say that, since I've seen a bit of issue with this before. This is all what one person thinks, what one person comes up with.
➤ If you want to (or if you think it'll all just go right over my head) you may put a note at the bottom of the story (or beginning, wherever) to explain how you incorporated things. [although this one is pretty straightforward] I will probably catch most of it, since I'll be looking for it, but if it's something quite deep that you think I would miss, definitely put it in.
➤ Don't rush judging. I already know judging will take quite a while, no matter the amount of entries. We will try and complete it some time in August
➤ Do not complain about the prizes- be happy you're getting anything, and you can always trade them for something you like more.
➤ The cut off for editing entries or submitting new ones is August 6th, and there will be no extensions... probably. I think you'll all have plenty of time to get things done, and unless the situation is dire, and talked with me about, then there won't be exceptions on this.
➤ 5000 word limit, only up to 100 over.
➤ And now are just some things I like to see:

Description. Help us (your reader) visualize where this story takes place.
Evoke Emotion. Make your reader cry, laugh, or gasp. Strong words.
Create realistic characters. Not flat ones, oh please. Give them depth, meaning. Unique
Get a proof reader. I don't want to see simple spelling mistakes, or grammar errors that could have been pointed out easily.

And, the moment you've all been waiting for: what shall be awarded to the winners?


➤ Grand Prize shall be awarded to an entry from either category, and like with everything, a grand prize is for the best of the best, and may not be handed out, although I can't see that happening here. Only one user will receive it. The prize shall be one advent pet from this group: this [yellow android, tinsel horse, or christmas tree dog]

➤ First Place shall be awarded to one entry. It will be the ones we deem to be the best, and they shall receive one VR pet from this group and one rare pet from this group


➤ Second Place shall be awarded to one entry. This users shall receive two pets from this group

➤ Third Place shall be awarded to one entry. This users shall receive one pet from this group and one pet from this group

This time the prompt is one word: post-apocalyptic.
Yes, that's it. You have free range to write however and whatever you would like. First person, third person, as a newspaper or scientist report; the list goes on and on. There are some things you are going to have to tell me though, such as... [not all of them, but the more mentioned/told/explained the better, and some are just ideas]

➤ how did the world end?
➤ how long did it take?
➤ what were side effects of the main thing that happened?
➤ how long after the apocalypse is your story taking place?
➤ what's the world like now?
➤ what's the society like now? Is there society?
➤ how many people left, if any at all?
➤ how did people survive?
➤ what about the animals?
➤ and etc. you get the idea.
