Would anyone be interested in a story like this?:

A girl, about 13 years old's grandma gets sick, and passes away. Her grandma was her favorite person, because she spent a lot of time at her house while her parents were working. Then, one night, her grandma's voice is replaying in her head, "I'm still with you" over and over. So long story short, her grandma is a ghost and gives her advice.

Does that sound interesting? PM me with advice or if you want to read it (if I choose to write it) And for the record it sounds a lot cooler in my head but I can't really type how it goes, it's hard to explain in summary.

Will you critique others work?: If you ask me to. I'm also a grammar nut, so I can do some editor work as well. xD
Links to your story if you have any: None yet. I'm working on my first novel that I actually think I'm going to be able to finish. I might end up posting a few chapters here, but I'm not entirely sure.
Anything you want us to know?: I'm also a web designer, so if you guys want your own forum, I can do that in a jiffy. ^-^

So, does anyone do some templating? Or rather, you take out a segment of a book or story, and you fill in the blanks while adding to it, to make it legitimate, and to try out a new writing style? I've been working with and around Scott Fitzgerald's Great Gatsby and Orson Scott Card's Xenocide, using them as a template. To note, this is NOT intended to plaguarize the original author's work, just using it as a visible reference, like looking at a picture while you're drawing. You add your own touches of story to it to make it unique.

I've never heard of this. It sounds like an interesting writing exercise, but I'm not sure I quite understand how it works. Are you trying to copy the sentence structure/pacing of the author, or are you just picking out words to replace, like some sort of literary Mad Lib game?

I'd like to hear more about it though. It seems like something that might be fun to try.

It IS really fun to write in a different voice (of a different author, copying their style, but writing your own stuff with it). That's like some artists start out by copying other art before they invent their own. And it's really cool and fun exercise =D

Not sure if that's what Ser Doodah the Lewd means. I think it's rather to pick out two scenes and then write a sort of in-between scene? (Reminds me of our English tasks back in school, where we sometimes had a choice to complete a story rather than write a letter or something like that xD).

Lucky kitten wrote:Plus, I'm thinking about making a thread about encouraging and help people who are bullied. Do you think that is a good idea? Also, I need some smoothians who are passionate in writing to write stories about encouraging people and help people to fight back bullies. Do you guys think that is a great idea? Please give me some comments about it. Thank you.

Its about making people feel better and encourage them. And also the asking for suggestions part, which authors who write the stories will give suggestions to those who are bullied or feeling sad.

Do you guys think tht is an awesome idea? Thank you for your time for reading this... Thank you very much.

I'm assuming this is an automatic-accepting thread here... correct me if I'm wrong and I'll wait to post. xD

I would love to help you out. In fact, if you'll let me and try to ignore my enthusiasm I'll do everything I can to do it. It's a great cause. I've had this story in my head for a while now, and now that I've seen this, it's time I get it out of my head and onto .... the screen. ^-^

I mean to copy the writing style / sentence structure of the author, yeah.

Does anyone mind taking a look at my CS story? It's about Pidge Parson, a high schooler and yeah. I was kind of getting tired of the copious amounts of fakey cliche high school stories so I decided to write one that hopefully isn't either of those things. I only have 2 entries so far, but I already have the plotline planned out.
