do you often become emotional while reading stories?

Well if its a really good story then yep. Sometimes when I'm reading at school and something happens that I like or don't like, I tend to slam the book on the desk and everybody looks at me funny.... Hm, I wonder why. Anyways or I make facial expressions at the pages I'm reading without my knowledge a lot of the time. (That always ends well around my classmates.)

I don't become emotional when trading stories.
Rarely though.
I barely ever cry at stories, as mentioned before "if you can make me cry I know you've done a good job" Yeah, me too.
I cry on certain topics.. Which I'm not going to day because I don't want to offend anybody D:

Username: Flugle
What we will call you: (I dont need a nick name, though could u let me know if can add one if i want?)
Will you critique other's work?: (yes or possibly)
Links to your story if you have any: None yet.
Anything you want us to know?: Yes, would the stories i link to need to apply to the forum rules? I would think yes and its not like i post inappropriate content for children. Though maybe some things are probably young adult material, like imagery that might be "Scary" for younger kids. Just let me know if stuff like that is forbidden and anything related. Thanks.

Not persoanlly. If i do happen to get watery eyed, i know its a wonderful piece. I remember "A Dogs Journey" and "A Dogs Purpose". The end of the 2nd book definitely made me cry, just a little. And its so rare. But i laugh easily and anything funny is just funny. I might even be shocked if something were to happen like a horrible secret against the protagonist. Or the death of a beloved character. Anyways yeah i might get emotional. :)

T h e A w a k e n i n g

My eyes fluttered open as my ears filled with sounds of my own shrieks. It was the same every night. A shadow becomes a figure next to my bedside. Faceless, with tiny white hands, a blade on the right. It told me that I had to catch the train before it was too late, or they, would get me.Was this some kind of sign? Should I go? Or was this something, some kind of cruel trick optimized by my own mind?I blinked the spots out of my eyes and sat up. I need to go.

Quietly, I slipped on my sneakers, black as night. I pulled my jacket over my shoulders and looked down, it has my name engraved in it. L i l l i a n.I hate my name. I once tried to scratch out the end of it with a pen, but it washed. Throwing it from my body, I grabbed a dark jacket and slipped into my jeans. I thought about what was happening, what would happen when I left, would my family be worried? Would they look for me? Continually, I thought about my mother, father, and dear little sister Myra. Choking back a tear I took a deep breath and seized the doorknob to my bedroom, opening it a crack. I kept trying to tell myself that I could quit this. Maybe it really is just a dream, a hoax to my mind, but no, I could feel my body, urging to get outside into the crisp, night air. I crept down the stairs and slipped out the front door without making a single sound.

I wiped my sweaty palms on my jeans as adrenaline coursed through my finger tips. Staring around as if in a daze, I tried to remember what I was supposed to do next. Where was I supposed to go again? My legs lurched forward, thrusting me toward the fence in an uncontrollable manor. I covered my mouth with my sleeve as I gulped down a scream. I can't feel my legs. Something tugged at my wrists and threw me toward the sidewalk, pointing me in the direction of the train station. The clue. I guess I was supposed to go to the station, just like in the dream. Leaving the invisible force to guide me, I sped up to a jog and bent to avoid a low hanging branch.
(To be Continued, PM me if you want me to write more and please check out my writing!)

Not particularly. Occasionally I'll get a little teary-eyed, but that's the most you'll ever get from me! Though I do laugh at books a lot. Sometimes I wonder how crazy I must look, hunched in the corner, in complete hysterics because of a book. People who don't read just don't get it. xD

Uhm, guys, being emotional does not only mean being sad or crying. Being emotional means displaying emotions freely and/or being ruled by emotions - ALL emotions. So if you go into hysterics or laugh at books, you are, in fact, being emotional while reading.

Not sure if that's what voodoo meant with the question though xD

I know exactly what you mean! I always read in private if i get a feeling that the book I'm reading will start making me laugh... I, personally, am easily amused by all kinds of humor, just not sick humor. Also! A message to Rose ;

Message - Can members of Inkling do book recommendations? (i would make sure to advise readers if it is the appropriate reading material for people of specific ages)

Well yes that is true. The only bad thing, as i mentioned in my advisory, is the Content in which the book reveals. Some reading 'Levels' are not for people that are underage. But yeah, i guess besides that, theres nothing bad about mentioning a good book ^^

More times than I care to mention.

Sometimes I get so furious that I chuck the book across the room, sometimes I get so giddy I roll off my bed and still read it, etc.

If a book doesn't evoke some kind of emotion out of me, I don't generally have good opinions of it.

Because it's what I feel a book is meant to do, whether externally or internally, if you can't evoke emotions out of someone with your work, then you're doing something wrong.

You're not necessarily a 'bad' writer, because like most artistry, writing and storytelling are developmental skills. Some just have the ability to adapt to it, where some take longer to get into it; there are no objectively bad writers, but you can make mistakes that can leave your audience a bit cold or disappointed in your work.
