Chapter two
------☠☠☠------
ℛobin and Christine stayed up the majority of the night planning their escape. So far they got when, and how. But the only question they have, is will it work? They tried to think about all the possibilities that it won't work, and there was at least a ton. But they need to try.
Once the morning sun peaked over the hills of California, the man trudge back into the van.
"So children, how did you sleep last night?" he asked them grinning.
"Wonderfully." Christine said with a smile. Her eyes though told a different story. Bags hung under them, and they were droopy.
"Well that is great. That means you guys won't have to sleep in the car. Plus, since you two slept so wonderfully, we get to walk a certain trail to find our next on the list." he chuckled as he held up a small list of names. All of them children above the age thirteen and under the age nineteen.
Christine gulped once her eyes gazed at the list. There was at least ten names, two of them were crossed out. Christine knew exactly who those names were. Robins and her own.
While Christine was studying the list Robin was thinking about the next kid. Was this kid there own age, or younger? Was this kid going to give a fight, or just be weak and not even struggle? And was Robin going to be the one getting this kid? As Robin was lost in train of thought the man started the van and snatched back the list. He pulled out of the lot and drove down the road. His radio started to blast out loud music. After about two minutes into the song it suddenly stopped and was changed into a news report.
"Last night there was a kidnapping that happened in Richards dr. Sixteen year old Christine Roberts was kidnapped from her own room. The police are saying that it could be the same man who kidnapped Robin Stewart from his own room as well. There is no other leads to this case, and no evidence that has been left behind from the man." the female voice stated.
Robin glanced up at the man, he could make out a smirk on his face. He was smiling. Was he happy that he had fully succeeded in kidnapping two kids without leaving a hair behind? This bothered Robin. That smirk, that very smirk scared him.
The man then turned the radio off. Silence filled the van. Robin could here the mans sharp, horse breathing. He could almost smell the musky odor of a cigarette on his breath. His eyes gazed back up at the man one last time. He could see the grey stubble around his face where he hasn't shaved. His hair was tinted with black highlights, but mostly dark grey. It waved around in the air, and bounced every time he hit a pothole in the road.
"So, kids, why so quite? Don't you two want to get to know each other, since you are going to be living with each other for quite some time." he smiled wickedly.
Robin gulped. There was that smile again. He turned his gaze over to Christine. Her face was white, and her eyes wide.
"Looks like a storm in coming tonight." the man smiled. "Perfect timing."
Robin scooted next to Christine and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Hey." he whispered softly. "Everything it going to be ok. Remember the plan."------☠☠☠------
The thunder rolled off in the distance. Lighting flashed and lit up the inside of the van. You could see the frightened faces of Christine and Robin as the huddled together in the back. But the most prominent face you could see was the man. The lightening showed all his wrinkles as he stared off onto the road. The man was stern, rough, and looked as though he did not want to be messed with.
Christine huddled close to Robin, burying her own face into his chest. Her breathing was soft as she slept. She hadn't gotten much sleep since the kidnapping and was in need of it. Robin on the other hand was wide awake. His eyes gazed out a small window in the back of the van. He watch as the black clouds roll in, and the lightening flash around the van. It was absolutely stunning to him, and fascinating.
Robin slowly was pulled out of reality and into his own dream land. A land where it was perfect, and where he was safe. A land where he would be always happy. Nothing seemed to be in his way.
A sudden jolt awoke him up from this dream and he glanced around. The van had stopped, and the man was gone. Robin shook Christine roughly, trying to wake her up. Maybe, maybe this could be their chance to run. Their chance to escape to freedom.
But that hope was short lived when a sudden scream was heard from outside the van. Christine jumped awake and looked around. The man opened the back door and tossed a bundle of blankets towards Robin and Christine, before moving to the front quickly.
The blankets moved, and kicked as a young boy popped his head out. His red curly hair went every which way, and his baby blue eyes gazed up at Robin. Those eyes showed such fear, such worry. Tears streamed down the face of the young boy. He quickly moved away from them and attempted to hide in a small corner of the van.
"You monster!" Christine yelled at the man. "You can't just kidnap a young child."
A snicker escaped from the mans lips as he started the car.
"Looks like I did." he replied as he drove out of the driveway of a small house.
"I hope the police get you, and I hope you rot in a cell where you belong!" Christine screamed.
This set off the man. He extended his hand and slapped her across the face. A pocket of air blew out from Christine as she fell back and laid on the van floor. Tears rolled down her face as a red hand print grew on her cheek. Robin glared at the man, but did not dare to move a muscle.
"Now, keep your mouth shut!" yelled the man before he turned back to the wheel.
Christine sobbed silently. As Robin tried to reach down for her, she only slapped his hands away and curled up into a tighter ball. Robin sighed and moved away, over to the boy. He lightly touched his shoulder, which made him jolt.
"Its ok." Robin whispered. "I'm not here to hurt you."
The boy made a slight nod of his head, but kept silent. It seemed like he didn't want to talk, and that was fine with Robin. But he wanted, no needed to know his name first.
"I'm Robin." he smiled gently. "What's yours?"
"Its.....Peter." the boy responded timidly.
"Well, Peter, it is nice to meet you." Robin smiled lightly. Now he had got his name. That was a good start.
