Yea somewhat, but it doesn't revolve around that. Just something added in there, haha. And Derek was being a jerk: 1. Because that's how he is sometimes 2. Because he didn't want to believe that the fourth hybrid was his friend. He would know if she actually reacted at his words and by the impact of the hit or what she did. Make sense?
