I lay down on my bed, exhausted and felt like just dying. I felt awful. Bryant had left me after showing a cocky grin and giving an abnoxious kiss on the cheek. I didn't let him leave without punching him once more right in the noes which rewarded me with a smack in the face and kick in the gut. I just wanted I lay there and die. I had lost my virginity. It's funny though, before all this "hybrid" crap no one gave a sh*t about me. I never got the attention of any boy. Now I had a sort of boyfriend, a boy with a crush on me, and a creep who thought I was sexy. The whole thing was confusing. Part of me thought all of this was just some sick joke, but I believed it. A knock at my door startled me and I sat up instantly, covering my body with a white robe which was in the bathroom. Yeah, I have a bathroom in my room.
"Astella, you in there?" Derek's voice instantly calmed me. I wanted to spill everything that had happened in the last hour but I decided to just keep quiet.
"Uh, yeah. You can come in." I said standing up and facing him when he opened the door. I was sort of surprised to see him in a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, black tie and black pants. Even some fancy shoes. I smiled when he started fixing his tie when he saw me.
"What's with the clothes, Mr. fancy pants." I chuckled, tugging at his tie. "You even brushed that hair of yours, I'm impressed." Derek rolled his eyes playfully then smiled at me, fixing his tie once again.
"Hey, don't mess my tie up. It took me fifteen minutes just to find out how to get it on." He laughed an looked at me. "But there's a big dinner party tonight for the new semester, and finding you of course. Bryant was supposed to tell you." Derek raised an eyebrow, wondering why I had no clue of this party. The slightest mention of Bryant's name made me tense up and get angry. I guessed Derek noticed because he placed a gentle hand on my shoulder.
"But I don't have anything fancy like that." I mentioned, I prayed for a way out of this because I knew Bryant would be there. Derek grinned at me and I knew I was going.
"You haven't looked in your closet yet, have you?" Derek smirked, taking my hand and leading me over to the closet. I honestly expected it to be empty for me to put my own clothes in there. I was dead wrong. It was filled with beautiful dresses I would never have dreamed of wearing. A shelf was filled with certain shoes to go with the outfit. There was also a beautiful jewelry box filled with stunning brackets and necklaces.
"Since Mathew is sort of a billionaire, he has a lot of party's in his mansion that we get invited to as guests." Derek smiled at me, noticing I was awe struck and pulled out a beautiful black and red dress. "And I think, you'll look beautiful in this." He said handing it to me. I glanced at it then looked up at Derek who seemed to be happy.
"It is beautiful, but it's all too much. I'm already being here for free, it wouldn't feel right." I decided, handing to back to him but he would take it from me.
"Come on, Stella. Just this one night and then you don't need to I to any party's or anything. I swear." Derek held his hand to his heart and smiled brightly at me. I sighed then smiled back, brushing the hair from my eyes.
"Fine, but only if you wait here so you're the first one to see me." I said holding the dress to my chest. Derek smiled back and snaked his arms around my waist, kissing my lips gently.
"I'm not going anywhere." He promised. I smiled at him, something about him made me happy and I almost completely forgot about Bryant, even though it would haunt me forever. I grabbed a few more things from the closet and went into the bathroom. I pulled the dress in first the pinned my bright red hair up so it looked pretty. I quickly applied eyeliner and mascara before finishing it off with heels and some jewelry. I stared at the girl in the mirror a moment. The outfit was beautiful and made me look very different. I sighed softly know I would have to see Bryant but just walked out the bathroom door to see Derek waiting for me. He smiled at fist but then stared at me in shock a moment.
"You look amazing." He said, taking a few steps toward me and tucking a strand of red hair behind my ear before smiling down at me.
"You ready to go?" I asked him, feeling my cheeks burning up.
"One second." He said quietly before cupping my face in his hands and pressing my lips against his. Honestly, I felt like I could have flied just then. I felt weightless as he held me. He pulled away slightly and stared down at me. I stared right back but saw Bryant's grin in his and flinched slightly.
"Uh, let's go." I turned my gaze to the ground. "Get this night over with so I can change back into leggings and a sweat shirt." I smiled slightly and took his hand, walking to the door. I but down hard on my lip as we walked down the halls in silence. Derek grabbed my wrist and stopped walking.
"What's wrong?" He asked, narrowing his eyes. I seriously need to learn to hide my anxiety better because I obviously suck at it.
"Nothing, why would you think something wrong?" I asked him, narrowing my eyes as well.
"Astella, I'm being serious. We're not going anywhere until I know what's wrong." Derek's grip tightend on my wrist as I tried to shake it free.
"Derek, just stop." I put sternly but he didn't budge, just pulled me close to him.
"No! Not until I know what you're not telling me." Derek growled into my ear. I tensed up but took a step back from him.
"It's nothing I can't handle, now do you want me going to this or not because I'd much rather go to bed and sleep." I growled right back at him. He was silent for a moment the looked at me.
"Fine, but I'm not leaving you alone until you tell me." He threatened. I jerked my hand away and narrowed my eyes.
"Alright, I hope you like to be bored out of your mind." I mentioned, waking down the hall with him right by my side. He was going to be so annoying for the rest if the night.

The rest of the walk there was silent and we came in when people started sitting down. Mathew Walker wore a business suit, Jared was wearing something like Derek but his sleeves down. Raleigh wore a tight blue dress which was low cut. I tried not to look at her much so I didn't accidentally see more than her face. I sat down next to Derek and took a sip of the water from the crystal glass cup. Bryant came in last and I nearly chocked on my water. Derek glanced over at me like I was crazy and Jared looked over the table worried. Of course, Bryant sat down right next to me, smirking over at me then taking a gulp of water. I started to nervously tap on the table an I guess I started to annoy Derek because he slammed his hand on top of mine and glanced at me.
"Well, now that we're all here and situated, I'd like to make a toast." Mathew smiled, showing pearly white teeth. "I'd like to toast to all of your bravery coming here from all across te country. Also for bringing our fourth and final hybrid here in one piece." Mathew smiled over at me and I smiled back slightly.
"Alright! Lets eat!" He finished, sitting down as the first course came out. A bowl of soup was placed in front of me but while everyone else ate away, I just stirred it boredly with my spoon. My whole body tensed up feeling Bryant's hand slip onto my thigh and slowly start to trail up. I stood up instantly, knocking over my water on the white table cloth. Everyone's attention was now glued onto me.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to. . ." I trailed off, feeling uncomfortable with everyone's eyes trained on me. "Excuse me." I murmured, pushing passed my chair and out of the dining room. I walked down a few hallwas until I got to the large double doors and pushed them open. I rubbed my head, getting a head ache. I walked down the concert steps, the heels pinching my feet. I groaned slightly and pulled them off. This was all too much for me, this dress, the shoes, everything. I didn't feel like myself to be honest. All I wanted to do was wipe this makeup off my face, pull on a sweatshirt and go to bed. I stepped onto the paved drive way which was still somewhat warm from the afternoon and walked around.
"Astella," I familiar voice called from behind me. I stopped in my tracks and crossed my arms over my chest.
"You shouldn't have made me come." I murmured, turning around to face Derek who stood at the top of the stairs, leaning against the door frame.
"I didn't make you, you chose to." Derek said, walking down the steps. "So tell me why you shot out of there so quickly?" He asked me, his hands shoved into his pockets. I felt my stomach drop and I stared at the ground. I didn't know what to tell him.
"You're not going to tell me are you?" He stood infront of me, staring down at my face while his was expressionless.
"Does it even matter?" I asked him quietly, looking up to meet his eyes. Derek just nodded, pulling a hand from his pocket and tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. I sighed, feeling like I could just collapse onto the pavement from being so tired. Derek must have noticed because he slung his arm around my shoulders and started walking back to our building.
"You'll be alright." He murmured in my ear. I stared at the ground, guilt knotting up in my stomach. I've only been here for one day and was already keeping this from the only person I really had been able to talk to.

Once we got back to "my" room I changed into something more comfortable and so had Derek. He had waited on my bed while I changed and smiled when I came out.
"So, you said you had something in mind for us to do?" I asked him, raising my eyebrow at him. He smiled at me and stood up.
"Yeah, get your shoes on. I want to show you something." He said, pulling on his sneakers and opening the door for me. I pulled on my converse and followed him out the door. We walked down a few hallways and then out the door. The moment we stepped outside Derek slid his hands over my eyes, causing me to skid to a stop.
"Where exactly are you taking me?" I asked him, cracking a small smile. I never really expected Derek to be like this. He never really talked much and sometimes still doesn't. He wasn't the kind of guy I would peg for surprises and romantic bullsh*t.
"If I told you, it would ruin the surprise now wouldn't it?" He murmured into my ear. I couldn't help but laugh a little as he kept walking close behind me, keeping his hands over my eyes.
"Alright you ready?" He asked me, I could feel his hair brush against my cheek. I smiled and nodded. "Okay, but keep your eyes closed until I say it's alright. Got it?" I squeezed my eyes just and nodded and he slipped his hands away from my eyes. He took my hands and led me over to some bench and we both sat down.
"Okay, open." I opened my eyes and saw the moon and stars shining brightly over a large pond, cat tails growing from the corner of the pond.
"Wow. . ." I trailed off, stunned at how beautiful it was.
"You know, I hardly ever see you speechless." Derek looked over at me, I smiled back at him. His dark hair brushe against his brown eyes. I moved closer to him and rested my head against his shoulder.
"It's beautiful." I murmured closing my eyes.
"You're beautiful." Derek added, my eyes fluttered open and I looked at him. His expression seemed intense and sincere. Like, he actually meant it. I smiled slightly and kissed his cheek.
"You didn't need to do all this." I said quietly, my smile slightly fading.
"Well, I showed you my secret spot in all fourteen acres of this place. That's something special." Derek smed at me wrapping his arms around my waist and kissing the top of my head.
"So I'm special?" I asked him, resting my hea on his chest and looking up so my noes gently brushed against his chin. Wen he looked down and smiled his lips were only centimeters apart from mine.
"Very special, the most special girl on this whole planet." Derek smiled, tapping my noes playfully. I laughed and cuddled close to him.
"Very special, not just because I'm some sort of freak of nature right?" I joked, biting my bottom lip.
"Not because of that. But because you are beautiful, funny, smart, and you have me for company." He chuckled at the last part. I smiled at him and reached up to touch his cheek.
"You're real right? Not some sort of perfect dream I'm just going to wake up from?" I murmured, stroking his soft skin with my thumb. Derek's smile faded and he leaned down slightly to press his soft lips against mine. Derek pulled away slightly and stared down at me.
"Yeah, I'm real. And I'm not going anywhere." Derek promised. And right then, at that exact moment, my now absolutely crazy, unreal, mess of a life was relaxed. It was crazy but I was finally calm and not always looking behind my back for someone who might want to kidnap me or kill me. I felt normal. I know it soups sappy and what they normally write in those cheesy love story's, but I felt like I was in one of those books. The ones where the two fall crazily in love and nothing else matters. Only, I didn't know if this was love or not. I didn't know if we were just enjoying each others company or something really was there. Like on the dumb romance books. My life felt like a book, maybe someone would read it I don't know.
"Good." Was all I could say to him. I jut closed my eyes again and enjoyed the silence, in his arms, in the most beautiful place in the world.
"Hey, Astella?" Derek murmured, I opened one eye and noticed him staring out at the water.
"Hm?" I groaned tiredly, I could honestly sleep out here even though it was kind of chilly tonight.
"Wanna know a secret?" He whispered loud enough for me to hear. I smiled an nodded, my eyes still shut. He leaned in close to my ear so that his lips were gently brushing against it. "I love you." He whispered quietly into y ear. My eyes opened instantly and I looked up at him. That was the first time he said it and now I was sure. I flung my arms around his neck and held him tight.
"I love you too." I murmured back to him, kissing his cheek. Derek cupped my face in his hands and stared at me, I felt my cheeks burn up and I glanced at the floor.
"No, look at me. I want to see those pretty green eyes of yours." He smiled sweetly down at me wen I looked up at him. His dark hair brushing over his chocolate eyes. Derek moved closer to me and kissed me gently holding onto me tight.
"Well, isn't this touching, the guy I thought was like a stone actually has a stoft side." I pulled away from Derek and turned to see Bryant's wide grin. I narrowed my eyes at him and found myself clutching onto Derek's shirt tightly. "Guess you aren't so tough after all." Bryant snickered, taking a few steps closer.
"Just leave, Bryant. You don't need to be annoying all hours of the day." Derek growled, moving away from me slightly. Two guard came out behind him and I narrowed my eyes slightly.
"Well I'm sorry to say that you two are here to train, not make out past curfew." One guard spoke, he seemed just a little older than us. I noticed the way he kept his hand on his holster. He knew we could rip out his throat without even trying. An older, and fatter, man grabbed Derek shoulder, pulling him up from the bench and pushing him toward the building. He grinned at me slightly and walked slowly.
"You guys take him back to his room. We'll just be a second." Bryant turned toward the guards them back at me. I glanced at Derek and his grin disappeared and he was now struggling against the two guards a little. I gave him a reassuring smile and nodded at him for him to go. Derek hesitated as left reluctantly with the two. I turned my attention to Bryant and narrowed my eyes.
"What do you want?" I growled, now furious with him. He grinned and walked toward me.
"Why don't you save those lips for me?" He murmured with a slight chuckle. Adrenalin pumped through my veins and I pushed him back at least three feet. Bryant stumbled but quickly regained his balance.
"Big mistake." He growled at me, stomping toward me and raising his fist. I caught his fist right before he hit my face and narrowed my eyes at him.
"I think it's you who made the mistake, big shot." I twisted his arm and he let out a painful yelp. "Because the last thin you want to do is mess with me." I pushed him to the ground, but before he could get up I stepped on his throat. He clawed at my ankle but I just pressed down harder so he couldn't breath.
"You have no idea what I'm capable of." I growled, spitting right in his face. I removed my foot and stomped off angrily.
"Neither do you." His voice made me stop dead in my tracks but I didn't dare turn to face him. "You have no clue what you can do." He rasped. I furrowed my brow and blew air from my noes before breaking out into a run and bursting through the trees.
