Prologue

Miranda looked around. She was sitting down at a table for two at a Restraunt which Alex had promised to meet her at. Shouldn't Alex be here by now? she asked herself, checking her watch. He was 30 minutes late! She finally decided he wasn't coming and stood up, walking out of the restraunt. She hadn't ordered anything, so she didn't have to pay. Her heart felt like it had broken in too when she saw Alex. He was sitting across the street at a coffee shop, his arm wrapped around another girl. She tore her necklace off, which Jake had given to her, and ran off, leaving the broken necklace on the ground. She began to cry as looked back and saw Alex abandoning the other girl, running after her with his hand held out. "It's not what it looks like!" she could hear him cry out, but she didn't listen. She could see a smear of lipstick on his cheek, and she new a cheating when she saw it.


Alex sat down next to Jeniffer, having forgotten all about Miranda. In his back pocket he had a pearl necklace he was going to give to her, it happening to be the same one he had given to Miranda days before. They both sipped coffee and chatted for a while before he revealed the necklace. Overcome with joy, Jeniffer pulled it over her head and kissed him on the cheek. Smiling, he wrapped his arm around her shoulder. Jeniffer leaned on his shoulder and they both watched the sunset. That's when he saw someone exit the Restraunt across from them. He'd recognize Miranda anywhere. Oh no..Was that date tonight?! he thought in a panic. His heart seemed to stop when Miranda saw him. He began to stand up as she tore off her necklace and ran off. He abandoned Jeniffer, who had fallen without his support, and ran after her. "I-It's not what it looks like!" he cried. But he knew it was over.

Chapter 1 (3 days after the cheating/prologue):

Miranda shoved her hands in the pockets of her jeans and began her morning walk, as she always did. She bit her lip as she walked by Alex's house, just by pure habit. She sped up, tears springing in her eyes again, and walked past. She reached up to where her pearl necklace used to be and the tears began to drip onto her face. She closed her eyes and thought back to when she had been with Alex and forgot she was walking. Her eyes snapped open as she bumped into someone, making them drop their purse. "Sorry" she mumbled, picking it up and handing it to her. Then she looked up and saw the girl's face. She stepped back. It was the girl Alex had been cheating on her with! Feeling angry, though it wasn't the girl's fault, she turned on her heel and stomped off. She didn't even bother listening to the girl as she spoke, just kept walking. As she stomped past Alex's house she risked a glance at the window. She saw Alex's face as he pulled away from the window. "I hate you!" she screamed, though he couldn't hear her. Then she ran home, sobbing. She never wanted to leave home again!

Alex sat down on his couch and stared blankly at the wall. He felt alone. Usually he would've met Miranda on her walk by now, but that was over. She probably hated him. But he couldn't help but still love her. Why did I cheat on her? Jeniffer..She was nothing! I'm so selfish! he thought, hating himself. Sighing, he walked over to the window and stared out. He hoped Miranda hadn't passed, he wanted to see her. Even if he couldn't actually be with her. He saw her stomp past and then turn her head sharply to the side. He pulled himself back, her eyes were so unforgiving. But sad at the same time. He wiped away a tear as she ran past. "I'm so sorry. Please forgive me" he whispered to himself, breaking into tears.
