Prologue It was a cold summer's night. Only A small part of the moon shone, for clouds covered the sky. The forest was abundant with trees, and eyes of the nocturnal creatures peered in the darkness. A strong breeze whispered and blew along the land, causing leaves to rustle on their branch. In the darkness of the thick woodland, two kits, a purple winged lion and a cream kitten, limp along the forest, hungry and cold. They were alone in the darkness, with thin stomachs and weak, tired limbs. They mewed faintly and frantically, trying to find their mum and dad with the little strength they had left.
"Mew, mew!" They kept going on and on desperate to find their parents, but no one came. The two little ones looked at each other with sadness, thinking that no one would come. The two cuddled up together to try and create the slightest bit of warmth, shivering as the winds grew stronger. As the two closed their eyes in fear of what would happen, A shadow suddenly fell on them. Sensing the figure before them, they opened their small eyes, seeing a warm, kind smile.
"Well, hello little ones." A voice as smooth as silk uttered.
Cowering in fear of the stranger, the two kits saw who this 'creature' really was- A cream lioness with streaks of blue, yellow, purple and red all along her body and a tribal-like 'flower' marking on her side.
"Don't worry, I mean no harm to you." She said with true kindness.
"I only wish to help you young ones. Why are you here alone in the forest? She said, knowing they wouldn't answer.
"You look hungry, young kits. Please, come with me so you wont feel so weak."The two kits, of course, didn't know what she was saying, but the glimmer of kindness in the lioness's eye said a thousand words to them. They slowly walked over to the lioness, feeling a bit more safe in the dark, dangerous forest.
As the sun peeked out ever so slightly out of the immense, dark sky, the kits and lioness had reached their destination- A medium sised, abandoned cabin within the woodland. There was no door where it should be, but instead a large patch of ivy. The wood seemed to be semi rotted, but still sturdy enough to keep the cabin intact.
"Welcome to my home, young ones, please, follow me. I promise you those leaves are not poison ivy.The lioness walked into the ivy, and disappeared into the thickness. The two kits, quite confused on what this strange bush was, went over to the patch and started to mess with it a bit with their paws. It felt funny to them, almost like a bush full of leaves but different in many ways. The cream kitten was the first to venture on in the ivy, walking in as fast as he could. The lion cub soon went in after him, but with more agility. As she finally got to the other side where the kitten was, she saw large, comfy moss beds, fruits, vegetables, fish, and lots of flowers. Any signs of humans, like chairs, tables, and other items were gone except for an old cooking pot and an old plush doll made of hand-made natural fabrics.
Yes, little ones. Here is where I live and eat every day. As I just had kits like you on my own until they ventured off, I still have milk left to give. The two started to suckle and soon were full once again(This part was meant to be not detailed for a reason.).
Good, young ones. It is about time I told you my name. I am Yuki, and although you do not know what that means yet, you soon will.Yuki looked at the two kits, who were pawing at each other playfully for the plush doll. They reminded her of her young little cubs, who disappeared one frightful day. A teardrop fell from the mere memory, and Yuki hoped from the bottom of her heart that the kit's would be reunited with their family, unlike her own. She vowed to care for the young ones until their true kin appeared once again.
Yes, this is the current end of the prologue. Criticism accepted. Ok, on to chapter 1.
