"Foxkit! jump! higher, higher!" hissed Waterheart.
The badger had been chased right over the cliff, so now all the cats are trying to get the kits back. Foxkit scambled furiously up the side of the cliff. while Hollykit and Lilykit helped nudge her up. then Foxkit slipped, feeling the ground fly from underneath them. they fall once again into the pit of darkness.
"Hollykit! grab my scruff! Lilykit, grab Hollykit's scruff!" Foxkit cried.
Then Foxkit felt a soft voice whisper in her ear, "Don't fight with fear young Foxkit, fight with dignitty."
Foxkit frowned as she felt her scruff being tugged by an extra mouth. other than Hollykit's. the weight was to much, so she couldn't breath. finally she felt the ground underpaw. and looked up at her rescuer. the cat.
"Wait! don't go! i said wait!" Foxkit stammered breathlessly.
The other cat raced off into the trees, Foxkit darted after him. Lilykit and Hollykit follow. "Wait i said! stop!" Foxkit yowled.
The cat stopped abruptly and whipped his around to stare at his followers. he backed away slowly, the cliffs near him rattled at his weight. "Please don't tell The Tribe! they'll kill me!" pleaded the cat.
"The Tribe? the-the what now?" Foxkit stammered.
"I've said to much... please move! i-i, no!" rustling sounded behind the kits. they turned to see three cats bound over. one was Dustysky, but the others looked unfamiliar. and strange... their scent smelt JUST like the rescuer.
"Red sea! help me!" pleaded the rescuer.
Red sea stared angrily at him, "Rusty! what are you doing so near the edge of that cliff?! and why are you even here? i told you to stay at camp!"
Rusty lowered his head, "I'm sorry." then the ground collasped under his feet.
Red sea screeched and lept over to help Rusty. she lifted him up and darted back in a new direction. "Hurry! grab the prisoner and run!!! the cliff is going to fall!!!"
"What? the" Foxkit growled as the second cat grabbed her and began to run. Lilykit and Hollykit were lifted as well as they darted away. finally they were dropped inside a small camp. it was surrounded by walls of stone. it shone brightly like crystals. a broad shouldered cat stepped up and frowned at the cats, "Red sea. what are you doing back so early? what did you find? is The Fangs chasing you!?" he asked alarmingly.
"No Crooked Stone... of course not. we found Rusty, and the final cliff has... has fallen..."
Crooked Stone sighed, his eyes wide with alarm, "Already!? but it's to soon! we don't have enough prey worthy cats! atleast not yet!"
Red sea smiled, "Ah, but yes. that is the good news, you see. we found perfect bait while we were out."
Dustysky's eyes clouded with fear, Foxkit frowned. What was The Fangs? and who was the bait? they don't enough what? so many questions... but what if they're never answered? she thought.
"I see... perfect. now make them comfortable. i'll make sure they have a nice sleep."
Dustysky yowled, "What do you mean comfortable!? you're gonna kill us!"
Crooked Stone frowned, "Well. we won't kill you, never would we. but i know who will."
