Though...I'm kind of worried about people joining who aren't going to take it seriously.

      HEY GUYS.
      I had an idea.
      - What if we made a thread for a ''novel'', and we all decided on a general plot. We could take turns posting a "chapter", and the next person would have to go off of the previous advancements? I saw this done in a writing workshop of mine. It was pretty crazy. We would of course have to sign up for it and have an ordered post line.
      Anyone interested?

Oh wow, count me in. I love collaborative stuff like that! :D
INSANELY BUSY!
I am moving! For the next month or so, I am going to be so very busy.
If I'm on here, it's because I'm unwinding with writing or pets or whatever.
Please do not add to my stress, if you can. Your support is appreciated.

That sounds like an amazing idea! Something different. I would join if I had the time. School seems to be sucking the life and creative juices right out of me. xc Plus I would be intimidated by all the amazing writers on here. Then there'd be my chapter and it would fail. Haha

      >> I find writing in reaction to someone else relaxing, because I don't have to think as hard about what'll happen next, but it's also fun to play around with interpretations. I like making up stuff people wouldn't think of themselves. ^^

I'm going crazy....
I can do beginnings. I can do climaxes. I can do resolutions.
BUT I CAN'T THINK OF A DAD GUMM PLOT.
Whenever I actually do manage to think of one, it always comes out sounding excruciatingly cliche.

      >> idk about the plot. rose went offline so we should hang out/bounce ideas around maybe?

      >> so to try and keep myself from starting my nanowrimo story prematurely, I'm fleshing out my characters. opinionz? I'm doing "currently" and "in the future", but of course I'm not telling you guys the "in the future" parts. =3=

      >> ALEXANDER
      >> male
      >> 25
      >> freelance artist, college dropout
      >> Alexandra says, ""Alex is the stupidest guy ever. He's got no knowledge in practical mathematics, sciences, he has no idea what the average acceleration due to gravity is, I have to tell him what half the dictionary means--I have to tell him what *dictionary* means--and he's never read a Harry Potter book in his life, although apparently seeing all the movies makes up for it. He knows who Michael Crichton is but not Agatha Christie, and he's never cracked open the Bible once in his life, even for academic reasons. He's not religious and he thinks believing in gods is stupid. To the point where he sniffs disdainfully at the sight of any biblical reference. At anything. And I always have to explain everything to him.
      >> But I will say this for him: he's the most beautiful painter I've ever met. And his sketches have so much depth and life that I feel like he's taken a shade of the subject's essence and passed it onto the paper. When I see him draw his brush along a canvas and see a street with rain glumly showering down, I feel like crying. And when I see him paint the autumn leaves outside our window each season, I can't wipe the childish smile on my face. His work is perfect. Incredible.
      >> He's always got paint on his fingers, stained from hours and hours of endless brushing and blending, and if it's not oils then it's graphite smeared along the length of his forearm. The one problem is one for all starving artists: he can't seem to catch a break. A few commissions here, a few commission there, some street painting way over there, and he hasn't gotten any attention yet. I guess it's because he paints all the things that people don't like to see--or don't want to. Because his rainy streets have peeling papers along the sides of the decrepit buildings and a red flare in the gray sky like a bleeding wound. Because his autumn leaves are the only splash of color as the train of people march across the brown field, their backs bent with sorrow and pain and hopelessness. Because Alex isn't the guy you go to if you want to see the world through rose tinted glasses. Because Alex is weak and fragile and unstable. Because he cares too much. Because his emotions override his logic.
      >> And it's going to kill him."
      >> currently:
      >> Dropped out of college, was going for an engineering major like his father
      >> Pretty much disowned by his family for not being a respectable human being like his three preceding brothers
      >> Pretty easy going, but tends to stick to his own philosophies and beliefs
      >> Dislikes confrontation and tends to let arguments go. He can't deal with loud noise and crowds make him nervous. He's more introverted than Alexandra is.
      >> Previously a heroin addict; has been clean for the past year now. He's never told anyone about this and doesn't plan on telling anyone this.
      >> He doesn't know anything, and frustratingly ignorant about everything. The only thing about politics he knows is the name of the president. Practically, he'd do horribly in a regular conversation. he shuts himself away in his loft all the time and doesn't come out unless absolutely necessary -- so basically when he's eaten everything in the house and he's figured out that he needs to eat every once in a while since he's human
      >> Very logical and a deep thinker, even though his vocabulary sucks.
      >> Not one to get emotional about anything. Tends to keep very calm about all situations and tries to approach them with a cool head. Doesn't blow up over a lot of things, and generally lets almost everything go.
      >> Doesn't really talk a lot in a conversation, and likes to listen more than speak, but he does contribute sometimes.
      >> Doesn't drink or smoke or anything because he's not confident that he'll be able to handle another sort of addiction.
      >> Is actually pretty okay with the fact that he's not "educated". He figures he's doing pretty okay so far, so he thinks that he'll survive.
      >> He's actually devoting his life to painting, but he's slowly despairing with the fact that he's not getting any recognition. Business and commissions are definitely going downhill, and soon he'll be out of work, and no one is going to want to employ a college dropout.
      >> Typically doesn't like to have background noise when he's painting, but if it's Alexandra playing, then he doesn't mind.
      >> Definitely the "big brother" type.

      >> I'll post about alexandra in a second, but thoughts on alexander?
