The Battle Within

Prologue: How it all Started
The story goes, that there was a huge war against two herds. The Celestrite Herd and the Forgnetto Herd.
A huge and devastating Winter had come through and killed everything in its path. Hundreds of horses were killed off, and the land turned to a barren wasteland. But, beyond these two lands, about 50 miles away, there is a valley untouched by living cells. The land is plentiful, beautiful, and Winter is unable to reach this luscious land... Or can it?
The two Herds fought and fought over this one piece of land. Blood stained the battle ground, the bodies of fallen horses scattered about the land. . . The two Lead Stallions were fighting continuously, both losing blood at the second. The horses kept fighting and fighting, ripping and tearing at each other. . . And finally. . . The Lead Stallion of the Forgnetto Herd fell before the hooves of the Lead Stallion of the Celestrite Herd. The Stallion reared up with a loud, victorious whinny. But as the Stallion came back down. . . He died before he hit the ground. Now, there was no Lead Stallion of either herd, and every horse was dead. . . Or was there?
Even though both Lead Stallions had died, both Lead Mares had been avoiding the fight, watching as their lovers, and their family was nailed to the ground. . . But you see, both Mares were heavily pregnant, and soon to birth. . .
A week had past, and the Mares had moved in opposite directions, away from the luscious land, and away from each other. There, they gave birth.
At the Celestrite Herd, the Lead Mare, Sakura, had given birth to a big, healthy Filly, whom she named Avalon. A black filly with a unique marking, that looked like a jagged, broken blaze. She had two white socks, both on her front right, and back right.
At the Forgnetto Herd, the Lead Mare, Tokima, had given birth to also, a big and healthy foal. A dappled grey Colt.Whom she had decided to name Imashu. Imashu had a thin, stripe with a giant star on his forehead, and four white socks. Imashu also had a jet black mane and tail with white at the tips.
Both Avalon and Imashu became the Leaders of the herd at 3, after Imashu's mother was killed by a Cougar, and Avalon's mother accidentally shot down by Elk hunters. The Leaders are now 4, and both have a strong herd that is still growing, around 20-30 horses in each.
