Tᴇʀʀɪᴛᴏʀʏ

A foresty place with a large cliff to the Northeast. Bellow the cliff is a cave in the cliff and a large river leading into it. There are stepping stones, so to enter you must hop along the stones and follow the river inside the cave. The journey from the moment you go on the first stepping stone and keep going should take about ten to twnety minutes. You soon arrive to flat ground where the river stops and leads far undetground. You must jump on the ground quickly or get taken away by the strong current of water.

Starlight lit the path, making the shadows brighten. Mistfield lifted her gaze from the soft ground she was walking on and turned to face Skypaw. "Go forward, lead the way." she murmured, paws shuffling softly on the ground. Her sightless eyes glanced at the sky before turning onto Wildsoul and Windtune. Her stare was so strong it was as if she were opening them for the first time. "I must speak to you. It is urgent." Her whispers echoed around the forest, the bark pushing the words away and further into the mossy trees.
Wordlessly, the two medicine cats shoed away their apprentices, who cautiously followed Skypaw up ahead. Wildsoul and Windtune walked willingly towards Mistfield, confusion in their eyes. Jaybird, however, stared suspiciously at them before nudging his apprentice, Nopaw, forward and following himself. "What could be so important that it must be said now?" growled Wildsoul, flicking his furry tail impatiently. "StarClan would not like the thought of us keeping them waiting. The secrets they wish to share can not be left alone." The brown tom gazed impatiantly but peacefully into Mistfield's eyes, who eventually broke the stare as the darkness loomed over her pelt. "Last night," she began, her eyes flickering side to side as sounds approached from every corner of the forest, "I had a dream. From StarClan." The words slipped out quickly and in a jumble, as if she couldn't consentate. "They told me something. It was strange... Something you wouldn't expect from StarClan."
"What happened in your dream?" questioned Windtune, eyes suddenly filling with intrest.
"Something horrible. Just horrible." whispered Mistfield. "I was walking through StarClan's hunting grounds when I came across the Star River. It wasn't filled with crystal clear water that never turned dirty, unlike normal. It... It was filled with blood. Churning, wooshing blood that spilled over the riverbanks." answered Mistfield, eyes brimming with frightened tears. "I saw... I saw the bodies of the cats in my Clan and your two Clans. Laying on the sides of the river, their blood dripping into the river and creating the waves of blood inside it. I saw you two dead, leaking into the river. I even saw myself, dead too, eyes still open as if my last moments were talon-filled." The words came out in chokes, as tears streamed down Mistfield's face and into her matted fur. "Then... then they told me... 'The one you fear cannot be trusted is the only one who can stop the darkness.' "

"I'm coming for you..." whispered a large, fluffy grey tom as his eyes flickered longingly at a skinny mouse. The mouse scuttled around the roots of a aged tree, sniffing for a few fallen nuts or seeds. The tom cat lifted a paw and took a step forward- big mistake.
CRUNCH.
His paw sank into the crisp, icey snow. The mouse twitched it's ears and immediately ran into a small gap under the tree. The tom wailed angrily, his voice being muffled by the growl of his stomach. "No luck then, Spirit?" purred a satisfied voice. Spirit looked up, rising into a sitting position. The cat facing him copied and settled down on the white blanket of snow, wrapping his tail around his paws for slight warmth. "None of your buisness. Why not go back to your twolegs? I'm sure they have some more slop to feed you." snorted Spirit, rolling his eyes half-heartedly. "Oh yes? Well, atleast I get fed. I'd be suprised if you lasted another day in these harsh conditions. Prey is scarcer than any time before, and just look at you. It proves it all." murmured the kittypet, lifting his chin boldly. His short black-and-white spotted pelt fluffed out defensively.
Spirit growled, glaring into the opposite tom's golden eyes. "Go home, kittypet." he warned for the final time, eyes glinting dangerously. Eventually, the black-and-white tom broke the gaze and spun round, shooting into the forest. Spirit snorted. "Kittypets. I'll serve that Meeko right if his twolegs abandon him. I would like to seem him try and survive out here. It's the hardest leaf-bare yet. "
Spirit silenced himself as he heard a soft rustling to his right. About ten meters away sat a fat rabbit, tail twitching in alert. Wondering how the rabbit got so fat in leaf-bare, Spirit turned on his bare patch of ground. The snow had melted around his warm body, making a snowless patch where he sat. Spirit re-called his training sessions as a kit with his father.
Mouse sees you, Rabbit hears you, Spirit thought drowsily.
He blinked and headed away from the rabbit untill a gap of thirty meters stood between them. He sank his claws firmly into the bark of a snow-encrusted tree, yew bushes around it's roots. Spirit knew no creature would be stupid enough to live near yew bushes. Deathberries were way too dangerous. Trying to consentrate, Spirit glanced to check the rabbit was still there, then clambered swiftly up the tree, claws sinking steadily into it's rough texture. Once he was at the top, he slowly edged along one of the highest branches, tail quivering with caution. Spirit crept forward a bit more and pounced onto the next tree's branch, claws digging into the firm wood-like ground. Closing his eyes, Spirit felt like he could be on plain solid ground again, with no worries of large drops. But a breeze stuck his long grey pelt and Spirit flashed his eyes open, shaking slighly. "Don't worry," he murmured to himself. "Don't worry..." Spirit stalked along the branch and past the main trunk of the tree, jumping to the branch on the other side. Moving along, Spirit held his breath for the next jump. It was much longer than the previous one. If he made it, the rabbit might hear and run or the branch might crack and break. If he didn't make it, he could do some serious damage with the high five meter drop bellow him.
Spirit blinked a fair few times before jumping. He stretched out his paws, praying to StarClan some part of his body would manage to grip the opposite branch. Barely clinging on, Spirit found himself dangling innocently from the branch. He swiped his back legs round untill they hooked on the branch, before pulling his whole body up. Spirit moved along, briskly now with the risk of falling slightly gone, untill the rabbit sat snuffling bellow him. If the rabbit count scent him, he was a fox. This was the best he could think of to retrieve his fresh-kill. Looking down, Spirit begged to whatever StarClan warriors watched him now that this would work.
"Let's go." he whispered icily to himself, before sheathing his claws. Instantly, fresh air buffeted against his face. He couldn't breath. The currents of wind swooping violently at him pulled his breath away. Spirit took no time in unsheathing his claws and closing his eyes. Whatever would happen next would be in the paws of StarClan.
Spirit opened his eyes. A swift pain shot through him. The icey cold air had hit against his eyes so strongly that it hurt to look around. He felt hot liquid under his paws. No... Had he really damaged himself that bad? Glancing down, he found the rabbit beneath his paws, blood spattered everywhere. The power of his drop had been so much on the poor creature it looked like it had been attacked gruesomely by a pack of fifty dogs. But it was his. Spirit murmured his thanks to StarClan, then layed down and began to eat.

Spirit whinced and collapsed to his side. Whatever he had done to his paws when he landed was not good. Pain shot through him as he glanced down to find it wasn't all rabbit blood, but his own too. Whining, Spirit stretched out and took a bit of the rabbit. So juicy and fresh. But it was leaf-bare. Where had this rabbit come from? However, that was not the main problem. Spirit turned and looked at his legs. Something very bad had happened

"Do you think he's dead?"
"Well, it would serve him right for prey-stealing!"
"Shh, Lynxheart! Take Burnpaw and report to Echostar immediately. As for you, Coldbreeze, go fetch Mistfield. Away with you, now."
"Yes, Deadear."
"On it."
The three cats darted away from the senior warrior, tails flickering in the distant trees. A cold blast of wind ruffled the leaves of the trees, making Spirit shuffle his paws faintly.
"Breathing..." a voice gasped. Spirit was now familiar with this voice. A senior warrior, Deadear. The warrior who had sent off with the two younger warriors.
"Loner! Speak, loner!" Deadear rasped reluctantly, tail flicking impatiantly. "I said speak!"
"Maybe he can't, mouse-brain!" spat a sweet but fierce she-cat voice. Spirit wanted to look up to this she-cat, but held back. He could do some serious damage by moving. He felt hot breath coming on his pelt in waves from the panic-stricken warrior, but they soon faded as the she-cat approached him, nudging Deadear away.
"Hello?" whispered the gentle voice of the she-cat. Figuring this must be Mistfield, their medicine cat, Spirit flickered his tail, but could do no more. The she-cat clearly didn't need anything else to prove he was alive. Spirit felt a paw rest on his side and a gentle voice murmuring things he couldn't quite hear. Deadear was still cursing to his left side, and Spirit felt like a weight had dropped into his stomach. Deadear was whispering, propably to Mistfield, and Spirit twitched with unease. "How could you say such a thing?" hissed Mistfield. Spirit felt a jolt of fear. "He is still alive! It's no waste, we have plenty of supplies. Echostar forbids the use of deathberries in her Clan anyway. Go away and fetch Coldbreeze and Echostar. I need help getting him back." Mistfield continued. Deadear snorted and stomped off. Spirit felt a icey cold paw rest on his shoulder blade, and felt no more.
