The van lurched as it set off. The cases sliding to the back of the boot.
It was just a typical day for 13 year old Mia Lake; she slept in late, missed breakfast, forgot her homework and narrowly avoided getting a two hour detention. So yeah... Just a normal day. She didn't mean to be like this, but she was easily distracted. Mia wanted to be a artist when she grew up, and was forever sketching in her notebook: a beautiful butterfly, a flower or even people. She had a creative mind and her mother knew it. Her father however, refused to acknowledge it. He wanted Mia to go into dentistry like him. But Mia hated this, and made sure her father knew just how much she hated it.
Chapter 1 (part two):
The cold darkness suffocated the air.
Mia shivered as the clouds drew in. Typically, on the one day she had forgotten her coat and umbrella, it was going to rain. Most of her friends had gone shopping, and others had joined after school clubs. Mia had wanted to join the art club, but she knew her father would pull a hissy fit if he found out. So Mia stood alone at the bus stop, trying to stay warm with her thin fleece. "And knowing my luck, the bus won't come," she thought. She was about to call her mum to get her to pick her up, when the sun broke through the clouds. Through the fine mist of the rain that still fell, shone a vivid rainbow. Mesmerised by the stunning colours, she found it difficult to pull her note book oh of her school bag. She stood still for 5 minutes, carefully sketching and colouring. She was so engrossed in her work, she didn't see the man walking towards her.
