Onyx's Story

Her background story:
She's been a shape-shifter since her birth. She was named after the black stone, a rock called onyx. She was special, but nobody could see it......
(I used to have a black cat called Onyx. That's where she got the name, but, she wasn't blind)

She is a black shape-shifter, who is blind. She's been like that since, well, she doesn't know. She's ALWAYS loved any shade of green, and in her cat form, she has minty-colored bands on her front paws, and has one like that on her tail, except it has a ribbon with a feather. She's always made fun of, and no-one understands her. But, she's been underestimated...

Onyx stared out her window. Her blind minty eyes couldn't see, but that didn't mean she hadn't won the highest tree climbing award when she was in human form. Very few knew she could shift, such as her mother, and her shape-shifting friend, Blue Apatite, but was called Blue.
Blue's lucky. she thought, miserably. She's one of the millions of shifters who aren't blind, like Rose and Petal. Sighing, she changed into cat form and lept out her window, ribbon flying. She looked around, and made sure that her classmates weren't there. They always had something to pick on her. A sneeze erupted from behind. Onyx could've lept five-hundred feet into the nearest tree. She flicked her ears. She could recognize anyone's breathing. She sighed, relieved. It wasn't her classmates, or her teacher.
"Onyx," the thing behind her breathed.
"Nightwing, what was that?! I almost lept five hundred feet in the air!" she snarled, spinning around to she her friend. Night was another one of her friends who knew her secret, but, then again, Night was a shifter, her only kind of friends she'd ever have.
"Sorry! It's just the flowers you have! They make me-" the rest of her sentence was muffled by Onyx's tail.
"Get down!" she hissed. "I here somebody! I think it's our classmate!"
They could barely pick up the conversation, so they scooted ahead.
"- but they escaped!" one cried.
"Excuses! I NEVER should of hired you!" the other man shouted. He was clearly not their teacher, Mr. Fett.
"I'll find two more!" the boy shouted. "I know of one! She's my classmate!"
NO! Not Ray! Onyx thought. She wanted to scream, but she forced herself to listen.
"Who?" the man hissed, clearly shocked.
"H-H-Her name's Onyx!"
Onyx could've fainted right at that spot.

"Onyx!" the man shouted. "Who is she? I might have interest in her. Any more?"
"Well, there are several more, but wait," Ray stopped, considering what he might say next. "The others, are her friends. Like Petal, Blue, Night," -Night stiffened as he mentioned her- "Shadow, Autumn, Fawn, and Emmalee."
"Well," the man (we still didn't know his name) muttered. "Where do you go to school?"
Ray swallowed. Onyx stared ahead, half dreading, half hoping that he would or wouldn't mention Mocking-Jabber High School. The parents of shape-shifters and some Regulars are sent. The school had been there forever, and the teachers never knew when they'd need a sub. It's pretty rare, but they girls weren't sure if this could change....
"Where boy?!" he snapped, sending me back to reality.
"What's Ray doing?" Night hissed to Onyx. "And how did he know I could shift? I'm barely considered one, I can only turn into a cat!"
"Shut up!" I whispered.
Ray, who, by this point, was gasping to breathe, gasped out "Mocking-Jabber High School!"
"Good boy. Now, we'll go looking for your alien-of-a-friend friends."
"Yes, Garish." Ray followed Garish, closer and closer to where they were hiding.
"Don't move," she hissed.
Onyx nodded, and then stared at the flower that was growing, right in front of them.
Oh no! she thought. Night was starting to look like she was about to sneeze.
And then it was a chain reaction.
"Achoo!" Night sneeze.
"There!" Garish shouted.
"RUN!"

"Where to?" Night asked.
"Jump the fence and I'll tell you!" She shrieked. Once they jumped over the fence, she said, "Your house."
"Okay!"

It's very busy at Night's house. Her mom and friends were playing basketball, and inside, Onyx saw three kids playing on a DS.
"This is Israder, Nextron, and Flame," she said. "Flame's my older sister. I have no idea why she isn't playing basketball with her friends and my mom. Hey Flame," Night whispered to the girl. "Why aren't you playing basketball with mom? And where's the other?"
"Hang on. Neto, pause it." Once the game was paused, she said, "Follow me."
"But, she hates basketball!" Night muttered when we were outside.
"I know. She was watching when you left for school, but, she's never been the same, since," Onyx couldn't believe it. First, Ray turned and was feeding some weird guy with info he would use against them, and now this. Another girl who was a shifter She must of just found out.
But then why doesn't go to M-J High? she thought, disgustedly. It's- no, was the safest place for shifters. Maybe her parents don't know...
"Yup. As I thought." Turning to the girl, she shouted, "I need to ask you something! Come here!"
The girl ran over to Flame.
"What do you want?" she asked gruffly.
"Come inside to my room. I'll tell you there."

Oh, she used to be able to see, but then she looked at the sun for too long and then she was blind. (from what her parents told her. grrr... I don't know how to answer that.)^.^

"Who's this?" She whispered to Night.
"I could ask the same thing!" the girl retorted. She pushed the bangs off her face. Onyx could tell because of the vibration of her movement. She turned into a bird, and started pecking at Onyx. Sighing, she turned into a cat.
"You can do that?!?" the girl shrieked.
"Yes. You aren't the only shape-shifter in this house, though. Night is. I don't know about Flame or the boys. Or your mom." She looked at Night for help.
"Flame is. The boys aren't. Dad was, and mom isn't," Night explained to the girl. "Tell her who you are. She'll tell you who she is."
Sighing, the girl looked up. "My name's Katniss. What's yours?"
Onyx stared a Katniss for a while, trying to decide whether to trust her or not. Finally, she gave a big sigh and said, "My name is Onyx."
"Night's told me about you. I think she said that Ray was after you and I think he's behind you!"
