"Some say I'm a ghost horse. Some say im the Devil. What they dont know, is who I really am, and what my purpose here in the wild really is. You, are about to find out."

((This is the true story of my horse OC. Do not read if you have an extremely weak stomach or can not take mild violence. I will lower the violence meter as much as possible for younger readers.))
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CHAPTER 1~ The Beginning.
~My mother and father, were the original Trickster and Devil of the world horses. No one could capture them, befriend them. Nothing. They were the leaders of one of the worlds largest ever herds. Around 50-100 horses.
My mother, Cosmic, was the true beauty of the horse world. Her dappled grey coat was like the shimmer in the water, her mane and tail were like the Midnight sky, speckles of stars were the water. her eyes the color of a melting Ice crystal.
My father, Chaos, was the Devil himself. His coat so black, you couldnt seem him in the dark. Only his white stricken blaze and his two white socks could be seen. His eyes... They were not of a normal color, almost red-like. But here they are, leading a herd not one human could touch, not another horse could lead.
This is my generation, my story, my LIFE. And you are about to find out what happened to me...
~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was the middle of June, it was a nice, summer cool breeze, and my mother and father thought my birth through. They wanted to continue their heir, and decided to breed. But before this, my mother left BlueMoon, a young mare in the herd in charge while they went off.

Cosmic got to choose the area. A beautiful clearing near a small creek surrounded by tons and tons of pine and maple trees. The birds were chirping, butterflies were flying all over the place. For some odd reason, maybe the butterflies could feel it, but they had decided to form up, and make what looks like a tornado made out of

butterflies around my parents as they made love with one another. When they were done, the beautiful butterflies formed a giant ball, and exploded, then leaving to where ever they were headed. My parents stayed out there for a couple moments, staring down into the creek, rolling in the luscious grass. Grazing and taking short naps.

The year had been finished up, and already January had passed. We were in the month of February, and my mother was soon due. She walked up to my father and nuzzled him.

"I Hope its a Filly." my mother says, but my father only laughs. "Why a Filly? Why not a powerful colt, that could later rule this herd?" My mother flattens her ears and nips my father on his neck. "I want it to be a Filly... Because then she would be just like you..." She said nuzzling him again. "Besides, whats wrong with a little filly ruling this herd?" My father is silent, but finally gives in. "Ok, you win. Lets both hope, and wish, that our first foal is a filly. One to remember forever.

Days later went by, and it was May 14th, at night, the stars shone brightly in the sky. My mothers water broke while she was taking a nap, and she quickly woke up. My father reared up, demanding every horse to leave down the hill so my mother could be alone. But my father only lay by her, no where in her way, but just close enough to feel her warmth.

After about an hour goes by, I, am born. My mother nuzzles me and licks all over, making sure that I am clean. Already she is a terrific mother to me. My mother examines me closely. "Look! A perfect lightning blaze!" My father comes over and takes a look. "And the same socks as me." My father nuzzles my mother, then nibbles on her.
About an hour passes with many failed attempts to stand. But then, I finally get it. I stand up, wagging my little tail, then try and find my way over to my mother to nurse.

As soon as im nursing, wagging my tail in every which direction, my mother examines me more closely. A look of joy and relief on her face. "Its a Filly!" She says trying not to startle me. "Well, its already been a couple hours, what should we name her?" my mother nuzzles me. "How about Lightning? After all, she does have a lightning blaze." My father suggests. "No. How about Dakota. Dakota Lightning." My mother says, my father seems to like it, as he smiles.

My mother stops me from nursing and begins walking off. I give small bursts of whinnies to her to stop, but she keeps walking. I soon catch up to her and walk by her side. Its fairly light out side now, as a new day has begun.
We walk down a small hill, I trip a couple times, still not used to this walking. My father rears up, and every horse circles around the leaders. "This is our new filly, Dakota Lightning! You will protect her with your LIFE!" Every horse whinnies and paws the ground, some slightly rearing up in celebration.

Days go by, and I gradually grow. Its now mid March, and already Im starting to be able to run with the herd. For now, I must stay near my parents sides. Waiting, growing, becoming stronger and stronger each and every day. For now, we will rest on a nearby hill top, where we over look the entire plains all the way to the mountains on either sides, which is our home.

CHAPTER 2~ The Unexpected.

It was the next day, and I was still asleep, my mother came over and nuzzled me to wake up. The herd was moving again, because where we were at now, had no shelter. I got up and yawned, then went to my mothers side. It was cold out, and I desperately wanted my mothers warmth. The herd continued down the hill, I slipped a couple times from the fresh sprinkling of rain. About 8 minutes went by, and we finally made it down the hill. My mother took me to the shelter a nearby pine tree. She laid down, and I laid down next to her, cuddling for warmth. I rest my head on her legs, and I soon fall back into a deep sleep.

My father comes over, nuzzling my mother, both watching as I sleep, and also fascinated by my unique markings. My father gives a small snort, and trots off to supervise the area.

I wake up about an hour later, my mother gone. The sun is out and its fairly warm. I get up and trot over to my mother, who is out grazing in the field next to my father. As I begin to nurse, my mother is slightly startled, coming up to see who it was, after realizing its just me, she goes back to grazing.

Hiding, in the darkness of the trees, was something that terrified me greatly beyond explanation. My mother, nor my father spoke of it, yet alone, have I ever heard of it.

The entire herd was peacefully grazing, or taking a short nap, and my father was looking in the wrong direction... Out of the bushes it came, a terrifying roar, razor sharp claws and fangs. A long, slender body. The herd was alert and up and running. Its eyes locked on the smallest herd member... Me. I ran for it, my mother just a bit ahead of me, she was scared and for a moment forgot about me. It roared and jumped, lading right on me, flipping me over. It was about to kill me in a second before my mother came. She reared and slammed her hooves on the creatures head. I got up and ran for my father. My mother reared again, but the creature jumped and hooked onto her neck, scratching into her sides. My mother came back down, jumping and bucking all over the place. She managed to get the creature off, but it came for her again, so my mother quickly turned around, and kicked out. Hitting it dead in the chest. It roared in pain, and limped off back where it came from.

I ran to my mothers side, I was crying, her head was bent down, she was breathing heavily, and she had blood streaming down her neck and side. She turned and saw me, nuzzling me and walking over to my father, to nuzzled her and checked her over. "Come, we must get you to a clear stream to clean out the wounds." My father began licking her wounds as we walked, I was up front, staring at my mother, waiting for any signs that she might die. None that I knew of. But I was still worried, walking closely to her side.

A few minutes later we had arrived to the nearest stream, where my mother slowly got in. A few minutes later she came out. The wounds still deep and red, but slightly stopped bleeding. I went over and nuzzled her, again on the verge of tears. "Dont cry, Dakota... Everything is fine..." I looked up at her, a gentle smile on her face.

The next day had come around, and again the herd was moving. "Mother... Why do we keep moving the herd?" I ask her, confusing running through my mind. My mother looks at me, a gentle smile across her old, kind face. "Because, Dakota. It could be that the food is scarce, or there are predators too close to our family. And in this case, it is both scarce food, and predators..." I look down, staring at the difference in my mother and I's footsteps. I take small, quick steps, while my mother takes calm, large steps. "Oh... Mother... What exactly was that creature that attacked you anyway?" My mother frowned, then looking at the members that passed by us. "It is called a Cougar, Dakota. Or also referred to as a Mountain Lion. If you ever see one... Run. Run as fast as your legs can carry you..."

At that moment, I didnt fear the creature. I wanted revenge for the damage it caused my mother, but also mad at myself... Because I was the one who got my mother hurt. If only I had run faster, hiding in with the herd. Rather someone else, or no one would have been hurt... Not only did I want revenge, or that I no longer feared this creature, but that I wanted to fight and kill one my self, to show them I will grow up strong, and fearless. I will not fear anything. Even the humans. I will be strong, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Nothing will stop me from my life's mission. My life's goal... Tears welled up in my eyes and my vision became blurry. I shook my head and squinted, trying to lose the tears. From then on, everyone was quiet.

The next day was continuous walking, not to mention it started to rain. Hard. We actually all stopped and had to hide under trees, I slept underneath my mother while she kept watch over me. It was at nightfall that the rain lightened up, but lightning still flashed in the sky. Earlier on I was freezing cold, but apparently my body strengthened up and became tolerant of the cold weather, and I began to no longer feel the cold hard pelts of the rain. No, I was not numb, I was just... Immune... The rest of the way, I thought of other ways I would accomplish my life goal...

The next couple of days went by, and I began to run faster, my bones became thicker and stronger, and I was nearly the same speed of my nanny, BlueMoon. The reason why I dont say my parents, is cause they are the fastest of the herd, and it will be a long time till I get to their speed... I also began to grow more, especially in my attitude. I was no longer interested in fun games, though with my mother and father they were still fun...

Two months go by, and I am now three months old. And everyone in the herd already says I am huge for my age, after all, Im not that much shorted then my mother. We had found a good spot for our herd, and had been here for now a month, but I had the feeling it wasnt going to be good for long...

The entire herd was happily grazing. Nothing ruin the good mood... Or could it? I lifted my head to shake my short mane, seeing a red figure galloping at full speed. I nickered, hoping someone would look. My mother and father looked up, rearing and telling the herd to move off to the side. My father however, stayed in place. The stallion came closer and closer every second, running at full speed. Just as the stallion came closer, not slowing down one bit, but rather gaining speed, my father reared up on his hind legs, tossing his legs about. The stallion jumped, toppling my father over, sending him hard into the ground. My father lay motionless on the ground, shocked, and breathing heavy. He soon got up when he heard the other stallion squeal.

The other stallion arose, rearing and shooting off his hind legs, charging for the leader. My father... "FATHER!" I squealed, but it was too late. My father had been again knocked to the ground. The stallion rearing up, pawing at the air before he came back down onto my fathers side, his hooves digging into his skin, leaving two giant, bleeding gashes. "FATHER GET UP!" I squealed. Tears again started forming, but I kept them back. My father would not lose. And he would not die... Never... My father got up slowly, quickly dodging the stallions fierce and swift strike. My father reared up, pawing at the stallion, getting him in the neck and chest, leaving giant bloodied wounds. The stallion took a giant step back, lowering back to all fours. My father came back down too, but made a quick paw and hit the stallion hard in the jaw, causing his jaw to leak blood. I smiled, happy that my father had turned the tables.

The stallion wasnt done though. His eyes were filled with furry. He swiveled around, kicking my father in the side, knocking him over. I swore I heard what sounded like a twig snap in half... My father lay on the ground, lightly breathing. I looked at my mother, she was streaming tears, and couldnt take it any longer. She turned and ran off, not wanting to see what else would further happen to my father. "Mother... No..." Tears formed in my eyes again, and this time I let them be. There would be no stopping these tears... My father stood again, breathing heavily, blood leaking out of his nostrils. He reared, sending a gaping wound to the stallions head, then swiveling and biting a chunk of flesh from the stallions neck. My father came back down and turned around, kicking the stallion dead in the chest, sending him to the ground. The stallion lay motionless for several minutes. My father trying hard not to rest any part of his body, holding his head up high, yet giving the stallion a death glare, watching his every movements. "Who are you!?" My father squealed, sneezing blood.

The stallion still lay motionless. I swear he was dead... But the stallion coughed, then started laughing... "You dont know who I am?... Have you not noticed me all these months?" My father was very confused, but didnt dare let his stupidity flow through his mind. "What are you talking about!?" The stallion slowly arose to his feet, my fathers ears pinned. The stallion let out an evil laugh. "I watched for afar while your precious mate had your glorious little Filly. I watched as your mare had been attacked by the Cougar... I saw EVERYTHING... My eyes widened... What was this stallion thinking?... "So! What is your point!?" The stallion stood taller, leaving his head lowered as blood dripped off his body. "I have been following your herd because I cannot stand you! I plan to kill you and take over this herd, and make your mare MINE!"

Fury and anger overwhelmed me. My father had been badly hurt because this stallion wanted our herd and my mother?! I wanted to kill this stallion as bad as my father did... My father didnt like this stallion one little bit. "You will NEVER claim this herd! Or my mate!" My father reared up and charged the stallion with great speed, pawing at the stallions sides, leaving large bleeding wounds, biting at the stallions wither, sides and neck. The stallion only bled more with each hit. Soon this stallion reared up, laughing and pawing wildly at my father, leaving more giant blood wounds on his sides and neck. Biting my fathers wither and anywhere else he could get too. "Who are you!? I say!" The stallion reared up laughing evilly. "Who am I? Who AM I? My name is The Reaper!" The stallion said.

He spun around two times before launching a powerful kick towards my fathers head, just missing and scraping deep into his neck. My father fell. Motionless he lay, breathing as though he were not. The stallion reared up, letting out a eat-deafening scream. "You are now all under MY control!" I couldnt believe it! My father had just been defeated by some stuck up stallion! No! How could this be!? I couldnt stop, tears were streaming down my face, I stared at my fathers body. But suddenly, my father moved, and soon, he stood up, blood coating his body and the ground we stood on. His eyes were the reddest I had ever seen them. My father reared, let out a high pitched scream and came down on the stallion, pawing and hitting his face, then came down and hooked onto the crest of the stallions neck with his teeth, shaking the stallion furiously till he dropped. My father then over looked the stallion, giving him one last piece of advice. "Never. EVER... Mess with me again. Because when Im done with you. You wont be seeing light ever AGAIN!" The stallion only laughs, my father rises to his feet, pawing the air then coming back down on the stallions head. I see no more, turning my head and racing after my mother, following her scent for where ever she had gone.

My father squealed, telling the herd he will forever rule. Then drops to the ground, taking in large amounts of air.I search through the forest, calling out for my mother. I soon find her laying down near a small creek that runs through the trees. "Mother!" I call out, racing to her side. "Mother, you have to come back! Father has won! He beat the stallion! He killed him! Come back and lets move on! Come now!" I say, tears now streaming down my face. My mother turns to me, her eyes red from tears. "No! I cannot go back! Your father is surly going to die!" She says, burying her face into her legs. "No! Dont say that! Father is going to live! I know he is!" I say, nudging her, trying to get her to stand. "Please! You must come back! Even if father does die... You still have to lead this herd... And you have to say goodbye for he does leave... Please..." My mother looks up at me, I no longer have tears welled up in my eyes. "Oh Dakota... You are so, so brave and strong... And your right, even if your father is gone, we still must lead this herd..." My mother stands, and together we walk back.

By the time we get back to the herd, my father is now standing, his legs wobbly and barely able to keep him up. My mother races to him, nuzzling him and crying. "Im so sorry I left! I couldnt see you die!" My mother mourned. My father only chuckled. "What made you think I was going to die? What, do you not have any trust in me left over all these years? Huh?" My father said coughing slightly. "Come! We must move the herd from this place, the sky is already grey and its surly about to rain anytime soon, we must find shelter!" The herd moves on, and I go close to my father, nuzzling his side, getting blood all over my face. "Im so happy you won... That your alive... I love you and I never want you to go!" I say, starting to cry again. "Dakota... Everything, and everyone dies in due time. There is no escaping death. It is the natural circle of life. We live, reproduce and pass on our next generation, and we die." I stare my father down, not wanting to leave his gaze. "I know, but... Its to soon for you to leave!" My father only chuckles. "Dakota... Im not going to die. Its fine..." I nuzzle my father again, "I hope so..."

Not long after, we find a place to stay, with a clear creek nearby and good shelter. We also find a cave on the side of a mountain. "Chaos... You should rest, you havent slept in days. Please, make me happy and go sleep..." My father sighs, but agrees. He nuzzles my mother, then nuzzles I. He then walks into the cave, where he would fall into a deep, deep sleep.

The next morning.... My father died....
