I love writing books with mythical creatures... Especially dragons. Please post your thoughts, criticism, and comments..
Chapter 1
Eyes seemed to glitter with malice in every shrub. Footsteps strangely muted, The small, lithe figure progressed forward, jumping at the slightest rustle of a leaf. Wrapping her cloak tighter, the woman sniffled and continued on, shaking. on, She stopped dead in her tracks. The frosty air stung her cheeks worse, but she only whimpered, closing her eyes.
"Don't let it be real... Don't let it be real..." She whispered, breath billowing up in the winter air. Not four feet in front of her, the snout of a huge, black dragon was pushing through the trees.
Jerking upright, Sayrei sighed in relief. I was only a dream... She thought. It was only a dream. Swinging her legs so they dangled over the edge of the branch, her blue eyes angled upward so she could watch the dim twinkle of dawn stars as they were slowly consumed by the brightening day. A faint breeze made the bright green tangle of leaves above her head whisper, passing the little voices down to her they always did.
...air... fire... As always, their meaning was evasive to her mind. Suddenly frustrated, Sayrei slid from the branch, landing lightly. Soft moss and little shoots of grass brushed the undersides of her feet as she hesitated, her narrowed green eyes moving slowly over her surroundings, catching every little detail.
Once again moving, Sayrei's feet whispered over the ground like she was as light as the summer wind that gently ruffled her long, raven-black hair. Dream vivid, she kept her pace slow, examining the small passageways used by small animals like rabbits and chipmunks.
Water... stream... stormclouds... Once again, the voice drifted through her head. Shivering now, she lengthened her strides. Casting her strange mind around, she found absolutely nothing of interest- Young birds, worms, insects, a cat...
The world never seemed to offer her an ordinary life, no matter how much effort she put forth.
