The lantern glows
In a flickering gold
And the girls onyx eyes
Grow slowly more bold
"Come to me, child,
I'll give you a new form"
"Come now child,
Wouldn't you like to perform?"
But as you stand still
In the very same place
A shocking scowl
Comes over her face
And her fair onyx eyes
Grow a shade much too cold
And they seem to tell stories
That should have never been told
She screams and she howls
And seethes with rage
And what seems to be young
Is now showing age
So be quick now child
Do not stay
For instinct has told you
To run away.
The small city of Magnolia is in panic. Teenagers and children have been mysteriously disappearing, and not a single clue has ever been left. Parents are freaking out, refusing to let children go out after dark, yet some still sneak out after dark. They never come back. Every morning, a parent will cry out in shock, and soon, they will mourn their loss. For everyone knows, that once you disappear, you're never coming back. People have been arguing, everyone has their own solution to the problem, and no one agrees with a solution that's not their own. The one thing they can agree on? That new circus just outside of town is amazing!
Every night,
In the downtown park
A little girl is seen waiting,
By the lanterns in the dark
Adults will tell her,
"Child, go home!
You can't be her right now,
It's not safe anymore!"
But the little girl,
Will just shake her head.
And innocently smile,
As though she doesn't know of death
She'll speak out on a whim,
With her angelic child's eyes,
"It's okay, Mr, Mrs,
The demons obey my cries."
She'll smile again,
And walk away,
But people will swear,
Her shadow grinned that day.
The new circus outside of Magnolia is becoming more famous as it gains new acts everyday. Masked performers complete death defying stunts, while others provide simple entertainment in fortune telling and clown acts. But, no matter how much they ask, the performers won't remove their masks. "It's the rule here you see, we just can't show thee."
And everyday at six,
They'll close down the show,
And the viewers will gossip,
To the people they know.
"They can't be human,
Just look at that skill!"
Little do they know,
That what they say is so true....
Okay, so, if anyone noticed, this is a different take on the poem in my signature. Critiques are appreciated!

And the wolves onyx eyes
Grow slowly more bold
"Come to me, child,
Come keep me warm"
"Come now child,
Aren't you here to perform?"
But as you stand still
In the very same place
A shocking scowl
Comes over her face
And her fair onyx eyes
Grow a shade much too cold
And they seem to tell stories
