Every bird flew away from the great flames that licked at the forest. The young mother robin left her young reluctantly, her eyes flooded with tears, but there was no way she could save them. She flapped off trying not to hear the calls of horror from her young. The flames quickly engulfed the robins tree and burned it to a pile of ashes.
A Mockingbird sprinted away her wings stuck together with sap, trying to get them open and spread, she finally lifted off, flying swiftly after the cloud of birds. She twittered trying to locate her mate, and was told that he had also been burned. She hovered eyes blazing with tears.
The whole flock had lost someone and were brazen with broken hearts. Especially the one Magpie family. They had only time to rescue one of their four chicks. They had grabbed their youngest daughter and flown off, Weeping.
This one young Magpie, Hope, Had never been told of this great fire till one night, when the great elders had gathered at the tallest tree, the Sight Watcher, for a meeting. She tried to listen from her families tree, just under the big tree. Her eyes twinkled with the thought of adventure and she shuddered thinking of that grand feeling that all birds called flying.

Her mother, Treko, gathered her younger daughter in her wings and tried to get her to sleep.
"Your Father will be back soon, and you know what hes like knowing you've stayed up this late." She said to little Hope.
"I know mother, i just...What do they talk about in the great Sight Watcher?" Hope asked her eyes closing ever so slowly, quietly drifting into sleep.
"All the grand things that the flock will do this season." Treko said her feathers warm and welcoming. Hope smiled then said,
"Tell me again of Fathers grand rescue?" Hope smiled. She loved this story, the great fire being doused by her father and his legion of mockingbirds. Her mother began the lie that Hope believed happened.
"Once their was a great torch that burned all night long. Its glow seeped into ever black corner and seemed to never die. Gale, the head mockingbird was watching this great fire when he suddenly realized it was spreading, slowly, to the Grand Tree. He summoned her army and aroused the others. He woke your father and he gathered you and me into his wings and told us to fly to the greater forest. So I gathered you in my claws and flew you and I to the forest. Your father and his Legion gathered grand water buckets and went to the torch and extinguished it, but the tree with burning still. Your father gathered a huge barrel of water and doused the fire. The whole flock congratulated him and that is where the world is now."
Hope had nearly fallen asleep when her mother left her to greet her father.
"Have you told her yet?" He said his voice a hoarse whisper.
"I don't want her to know." Her mother croaked.
"Tell her soon...She needs to realize who she is..." Her father said, with a slight quaver barely audible in his tone.
Hope Awoke to the sound of birds chirping in the summery wind. She streached her wings, her mind forgetting last night for the time being. She hopped to the opening in the tree room, and lept out, spreading her wings, flying gracefully throught the air, weaving through the tees. She had just enough time to mabey catch a worm or two before morning choars. You see, every bird has a chore, and every chore is a daily task. They are suited to the right bird for their strengths and abilities. Hopes task was that of simply checking on everyones needs. She would fly from hallow to hallow and see if they needed anything. If they did she would fly to the cordinator Gill, and give him the orders, than move on. This normaily took about 3 to 4 *sunstrokes.
She loved her Task and was very proud of it. While she did this she realised that she had a new family to check on. Peering into the hallow she saw a single bluejay, all alone, and cold. "Hello? Who are you?" Hope asked cautiousily.
"Im Fallen." The bird said, her voice weak and forlorn.
"Would you like anything?" Hope asked her bright golden eyes looking sullenly at the bird, sadness filled her and she felt very bad for her.
"No...well....Yes, i need a worm or two, some blankets, and possabily some candles?" Fallen said her voice cracking.
"They'll be here shortly." Hope said and turned to go, and was ready to take off, when the bird started to sob.
*Sunstrokes:
1 sunstroke=30 minuets human time.
Hope looked confused. "Is there something wrong?" She asked, her mind trying to find a reasonable answer.
"Just get me what i need." Fallen snapped and glared through streaming eyes at Hope. Hope nodded, and flew off the the candle lit room in the base of the Great Sight Watcher. She walked up to the desk and ordered what she needed. and waited. The Cardinals in the very back room twittered and chirped in hushed tones every time that Hope flapped in there. Someone started to giggle and she turned around to see Feather the bluebird catting to her friend and glancing at Hope then giggling. Hope always hated her.

Finally the Cardinal came back out with the supplies and Hope flew back to the Hallow. The Blue-jay was still in the corner head under her wing, apparently sleeping. So Hope left her stuff in a neat little pile next to Fallen and took back to the sky's. her job was nearly done when a huge crack, fallowed by a screech was clearly heard from the room in the tree next to her. She flapped in to see a Falcon overpowering a family of Grosbeaks. Hope screeched and dove furiously at him. The big Falcon turned on her and chased Hope through the Air as they took off.
(Should i continue?)
