Doveflight walked across the clearing and sat down next to Brambletalon. He looked up and purred, happy to make room for Doveflight. Cloudberry, her sister, glared from across the clearing. She loved Brambletalon, but he loved her sister, Doveflight! Darkfrost nuzzled her side and she focused her gaze on him. “Mind if I eat with you?” he asked kindly. “Sure. Could you not catch anything today?” she asked sourly. Darkfrost purred and mewed back, not noticing her rudeness. “I did, I thought you looked lonely” his voice got soft. Cloudberry got up and left, heading towards her den. All because of Doveflight I won’t ever curl up in my very own den with someone. She thought. In Thunderclan, each cat had their own den. That is, when they find a mate. So a cat finds a mate then has the leader build their own den for them. Until that day, the no-mates sleep in the Warriors den. Doveflight bucked Brambletalon with her head, and they walked out of camp with their tails entwining. Doveflight felt the warm spring air flow around her and Brambletalon. “So, do you have anycat in mind to share a den with?” asked Doveflight. “Um, no” Brambletalon meowed. Then he leaped on her and pinned her to the ground. “Yes, and she is lying right under my paws” then he got up and licked his pelt. “that is cool” Doveflight said smoothly. “Mine is right next to me” she fell into step with him again.
Cloudberry paced across the clearing, brainstorming how to get Doveflight and Brambletalon apart. “If only…” she breathed deeply. Just then the young couple padded into camp. She dashed behind a bush and yowled her sister’s name. Then she raced back into the clearing, in front of Brambletalon. She started licking her pelt as Doveflight trooped into the bush.”Hi!” mewed Cloudberry. “Oh, hey, “ said Brambletalon, watching Doveflight get engulfed in the bush. Suddenly there was a yowl and rocks crashed the ground. Brambletalon raced after her and halted. Doveflight was in a deep hole. “Brambletalon!” Rainstar came out of her den. Brambletalon turned and promised Doveflight he’d get her out. Cloudberry raced away and dragged a leaf cameo covering over the hole. “Say one word and you won’t be able to say Mouse anymore” she threatened, keeping hidden. Cloudberry pelted out and Brambletalon came back. “Brambletalon! Someone sent me to fetch you in the forest!” cried Cloudberry. “where?” he asked crossly. “The Dead Ok Hills” replied Cloudberry, and sent him all the way to the other side of ThunderClan’s forest. Cloudberry pulled off the covering and leaped on her sister. “Come with me” she snarled, moving a rock aside. She trapped Doveflight and forced her to enter the tunnel. After a long walk, they sloped upwards gently. Cloudberry pushed on the dirt and it fell, making a hole. “Go” she snarled. Then she shoved Doveflight out and sealed the hole and ran back.
Chapter two
Cloudberry waited for Brambletalon’s return. When he did return, Cloudberry nearly fainted. DOVEFLIGHT WAS WITH HIM!!! “some cat pushed me out and ran. I don’t know what clan it was from, it was covered in fox dung and had pitch black fur. No one in thunderclan looks like that.” Doveflight mewed. Cloudberry almost yowled in anger. She raced into her den and closed her eyes and thought.
HOW HARD CAN IT BE TO GET BRAMBLETALON TO LEARN HE BELONGS WITH ME?
