Me: We're not scientists, or guests to a party. Well, Andrew is, but we're not.
Aaron: so then who are you?
I looked him straight in the eyes. I didn't trust Aaron... Not yet, at least.
Me: Scarlett, Scarlett Hunter. Nathan's name is actually Matthew, he's my brother.
Aaron: you went to a party using your real name?
Me: How did you know I used-
Matt: *Groans*
I crouched down next to him and brought the back of my hand to his forehead.
Me: You're burning up.
I bit my lip, stood, and paced.
Aaron: How did he get so sick?
I stopped, stood still, and considered everything so far. Matthew symptoms looked like side effects of something, I only wish I knew what.
Me: I don't know but the answer lies in these labs.
I searched all the desks, drawers, and files- creating a windstorm of paper.
Aaron: ... What are you here for anyway?
Me: I came here to find something for a friend, but I might not get to that.
Aaron: Find what?
Me: Some stuff that's important to her.
Aaron: Well shouldn't you look for it now?
Me: I'm more interested in finding out what's wrong with Matthew and how I can fix it
Aaron: But you might not have the time to find whatever your looking for, should this really be your first priority?
I stopped, whipped my head around, and gave him a stare so deep, he flinched.
Me: Matthew is the most special person I've ever known, and believe me when I say, I know a lot of important people.
He held my gaze in silence for a moment; beneath an expressionless exterior, there seemed to be a small glimmer of respect in his eyes. He stepped back.
Aaron: I'll do whatever I can to help
As soon as he said it, I instinctively saw it. A twitch. Hardly noticeable, but still there. I made a mental note of it as we searched the next labs for any clue of what may have gone wrong with Matthew. Finally, in the fourth lab all the way at the back I saw it. They were testing tiny samples of influence potion, and there was a notebook filled with pages of information beside it. Even though I knew I had to help Matthew, curiousity got the best of me.
I scanned through the notes quickly, not expecting to find an answer, but I did.
Me: I found it! I know what's wrong!
I snatched the notebook of the table and ran back toward Matthew, Andrew, and Aaron. We hadn't been speaking with Andrew since he had entered an intense dizzy spell and was in no condition to move or speak, so he and Matt had stayed together while Aaron and I had searched.
Aaron: What is it?
We sat down next to the two sick boys.
Me: Has anyone ever told you that you ask a lot of questions?
Aaron: Knowledge is the key to understanding. I always make sure to know the complete details before I do-
Me: -Something stupid.
I finished. I was astonished. His eyes flashed.
Aaron: Uh-hum.. What? *clears throat* I mean, How did you know what...?
Me: Because an hour ago I said those exact words. The real question here is, where did we learn that phrase?
Aaron: I made it up.
Me: Same here.
There was a flicker of disbelief which we shared, only making it more terrifying and confusing. Although I could tell that the both of us would have loved to discuss the topic even further, we had a problem to address. I cleared my throat.
Me: Right. We'll talk about this later.
He nodded.
Me: Matt is suffering from an airborne version of potion 13, rather, influence potion. From what these notes say, the gas form usually comes with side-effects which last for a mere twenty minutes after exposure. Which means, the "getting to know each other" group is a sham meant for obtaining information- probably why everyone was so open.
Aaron: Sounds bad.
Me: The opposite!
Aaron: What?
Me: it means that in five more minutes, Matt's fever will go down, and Andrew will probably snap out of it. It's a good thing that I left the party when I did, I wasn't affected long enough.
I stood up and took a look around the room.
Aaron: What are we looking for now?
Me: Research.
Aaron: On what?
I took a good look at him. Could I trust Aaron? Was it safe?
Don't be dumb, I told myself, of course it is!
Me: It's a genetic experiment, it has to do with the altercation of DNA- engineering it with capabilities that of a superhero.
The fangirl inside me bounced around a bit. Superheroes were always exciting to me, and I always wanted to be one. Of course, I have powers. But Telekinesis and invisibility are no use if I have no control and I'm only hurting others with it.
He smiled.
Aaron: Third lab.
I walked over to the third lab and searched around a bit. Sure enough, lying in a closed separate folder on the counter, was the research we had been looking for. I took a look at it, the equation still wasn't solved and I hadn't a clue. Science was most definitely not my area of expertise, I only understood superhero terms.
I strode back over to Matt and Andrew- who were shaking there heads and starting to wake up. I handed the research to Matt for him to hold, as I reached over and gave Andrew a hug.
Drew: What's this for? Have you decided to be my girlfriend, elevator girl?
I smirked
Me: In your dreams, lover boy. I'm just glad you're okay
Drew: Come on, why would you ever doubt me?
I rolled my eyes.
Matt: There! Done.
Me: Huh? What're you talking about?
Matt: Well, I solved the equation you gave me. Quite simple actually, it seems that the people who attempted it before me carried the one instead of the two because of their miscount in the protons of the-
Me: Matthew. I don't speak science
Matt: Oh, right. Sorry. Well, I solved it.
Me: Really? Addi would be thrilled-
Matt: Whose that?
Me: uh... No one.
Aaron: So what now?
Me: We need to save the people downstairs
Aaron: Why? You have your research. You don't need to do anything else.
Me: Aaron! Research, papers, they don't matter- people do. There are hundreds of thousands papers in the world with loads of information but are they as important as the people who make them? No. What's going on in Croft industries is wrong, and I need to do whatever I can to change it.
He stared at me and bit the side of his cheek. A tear streamed down the side of his face but he held such a serious gaze.
Aaron: you just have to the hero too, don't you? You can't just take what you need and leave! I was going to let you get away. The victory today is much bigger than some dumb research we bought from a little girl.
Me: What are you talking about?
I felt a chill rise up my spine.
???: That's enough, Aaron.
Out of the shadows came a legion of soldiers followed by Daniel Croft.
Daniel: I'll be making the decisions here. Especially since this lost cause became reality with the help of that young man in the lab coat
He pointed at Matthew.
Matt: Oops.
Daniel: Restrain them. But careful with the prince.
Two armed guards yanked my wrists into neon blue cuffs behind my back. I tried to break free but I was shocked by the cuffs. I screamed in pain, I've had worse but the feeling wasn't pleasant.
Drew: Scarlett!
Me: I'm alright, Drew.
I said with a weak smile.
Daniel: Oh young love, how sweet. Are you going to be the next princess then, Scarlett?
Me: We're not dating.
Daniel: That's too bad, I might've gone easy on you.
I rolled my eyes a guard pushed me forward
Daniel: Come on then, I have something to show you.
I scoffed.
Me: Why would I want to see anything you'll show me?
Daniel: Because you've come all this way. Don't you want to see your research in action?
I stifled a gasp.
Me: You wouldn't! That's dangerous.
Daniel: ... You know, you're not the average thief, my dear.
Drew: Thief?
Daniel: What? You didn't know that your special lady friend was a thief?
He laughed.
Daniel: Typical. Romance, so exciting with all its lies and dirty secrets.
I looked away, not able to meet Drew's eyes. I felt a sort of shame, but also indignation. There was no time, and no place where I could have told Andrew the truth, not without sacrificing his trust.
Daniel: But like I said, you're definitely not the everyday thief. Most would take their bounty and run, but you stayed- for people, no less.
Me: Everyone is important.
He whipped around with such a force that the entire room moved with him. He narrowed his eyes filled with greed and hate, staring directly into me.
Daniel: No. The important people in this world are the people who make themselves important, the people who can just build an empire if they wake up some average morning with the desire to. Those, my dear, are the important people.
Me: You can't honestly believe that.
Daniel: Is it so difficult for you to see that? Are you blind to the truth? Oh my dear poor girl, when you've lived a few years longer you'll learn that only person who matters is yourself.
He turned and we continued walking toward what seemed to be a hidden chamber behind a wall.
Me: That's not true.
I muttered under my breath, not that it mattered. He didn't seem to care much for my opinion.
We stopped when we reached a very white room- the whiteness of it just about blinded me.
Daniel: Welcome to the future!
Me: So our future is loss of eyesight? I guess you could say we'll be entering dark ages
I squinted. He chuckled.
Daniel: I do enjoy the ones who talk back.
With a sinister grin, he handed the notebook he took from Matthew to a scientist.
Me: What are you going to do to us?
Daniel: Getting right down to business, I like you.
He paused, pivoted on his heel, and faced me.
Daniel: Matthew is going to work for me, a brilliant mind like that should never go to waste-
Matt: I would never!
Daniel: Really?
He cackled
Daniel: I'm sure after you've had a nice drink or two, you'll change your mind. After all, I am the one who created the influence formula
Me: Created it? If I recall correctly, I'm the one who stole it- which I'm increasingly starting to regret now that it's gotten into your hands
He scowled.
Daniel: Don't tell me that your the girl everyone has been going mad about lately.
Me: Scarlett Hunter, at your service.
He spat.
Daniel: You've caused too much trouble for a lot of people, my dear. But that won't be happening to me.
Me: We'll see.
I smiled. The only leverage I had from this position was my reputation. He snorted.
Daniel: Yes, yes. Blab on, why don't you? Throw whatever snarky remarks you can, Miss Hunter, it won't help you. Because I win. I always win.
A scientist walked up and whispered in his ear.
Daniel: Ah! It's ready. Anyone want to volunteer as the test subject? ... No? How about you, Scarlett? It's not like you have anything better to do.
Me: Pass.
Daniel: Really? It's quite an opportunity! Although, you would have to live the rest of your life working for me. But you're already going to do that, so why not?
Me: Because this has already happened before, and I'm done being the Guinea pig.
Wow that sounded so hardcore.
Daniel: Very well, Miss Hunter. You'll find that I can be a reasonable man. So I suppose that leaves only one option
He shifted his gaze across the room. Aaron stood with his hands in his pockets. It took him a second to realize what was happening.
Aaron: Me?
Daniel: Yes, you. Get over here
Aaron: I don't understand. I've served you well! What have I done to deserve this?
Daniel: It's not a punishment, Aaron my boy- it's an honor!
Andrew: What kind of leader would turn on his own people?
Daniel: Who? Aaron? *laughs* Aaron doesn't count as one of my "people"
Andrew: What do you mean?
Daniel: Aaron was a test! A test for our new biotechnology.
Me: Biotechnology?
Daniel: Yes. Technology implanted through microchips, inserted on the side of someone's neck. Gives the brain a whole new point of view- my view. New life, new history, always following orders without question until you put their life at risk. The will to live certainly is something, wouldn't you say my dear?
He came near and tapped the tip of my nose.
Me: That's horrible! You take away an entire life and just-just- shove something new in?!
Daniel: Ooh- Quite the firecracker you are! I have to say, I might just keep you the way you are, lock you up, and pull you out when I'm in the mood to gloat.
He grinned.
Daniel: Ah, yes. That would be nice. I think I might do that.
I shook my head.
Me: But I have a question. Why do you need influence potion if you've developed the microchips?
Daniel: Brilliant! You truly are quite brilliant, Scarlett. Truly, truly.
Andrew: You're mad, simply mad.
Daniel: You're just noticing? *smirks* .. As for your question my dear, the reason we need the influence potion is because of the microchip's one fatal flaw- they can't be inserted without the consent of the individual. The human body is too wonderfully complicated for that, the brain fights it off like antibodies would to an infection.
Me: So you needed to give everyone downstairs a dose of influence potion to convince them to put the chip in their neck. Wrong, but admittedly clever.
Matt: Don't compliment him!
Me: Sorry, just sorta slipped.
Aaron: So where does that leave me?
He stood petrified, with a hopeless expression on his face. My heart ached with the pain and utter sorrow he felt as though it was directly streamed toward me.
Daniel: You'll forget all about this. Two words is all it will take
Aaron: But I don't want to forget-!
Daniel: *laughs* Poor boy, don't you know? I can't let you remember. Blue frost.
Aaron's facial expression was wiped clean and replaced with a slight smile.
Aaron: What were we talking about?
Matt: ... He just.. Forgot
Me: two words.
Daniel: We were talking about how you just volunteered to go test out that machine of mine.
Aaron: Did I? I can't seem to remember.
Daniel: Ah, well. Happens to the best of us sometimes, just zoning out.
Aaron: Yes, I suppose.
He walked over near the machine and we watched as he encased himself within the silver tube and was strapped in.
Matt: Are you crying?
It occurred to me that a tear had slipped down the side of my cheek. I don't even know Aaron. It was strange.
As the machine began its course, I stood anxiously across from it. Hopeless. The situation was absolutely hopeless. Although I knew, my mind refused to accept it. And as Daniel smiled, and I wept, I heard a voice. Aaron's voice.
Help. Help me, Xura Stryker.

Maybe there's hope after all

Aaron gets super-powers?

Postby Xura » Wed Oct 14, 2015 1:41 pm

As the machine that held Aaron spun around wildly, so did the room. Papers flew, lab coats were thrown backward, and our hair drifted in the heavy wind. We stood, unknowing what would happen.
I chose the moment to think. How was Aaron communicating with me? Why, me? And how could he have known my real name? Xura Stryker. I hadn't told anyone besides Andrew, so it didn't make any sense.
Eventually, the machine began to slow to a stop. We all held our breath as the capsule opened and smoke poured out in waves across the ground. Everyone was quiet as a figure appeared in the smoke.
Matt: Aaron?
Aaron stepped out from the mist. His eyes looked... Different somehow. Like, they changed.
Andrew: That's inhumane.
His voice dripped with utter disgust and revolt toward Daniel.
Daniel: Sorry it doesn't please you, your highness
He snickered. Andrew gave him a venomous glare.
Andrew: What makes you think I won't tell my father about this?
Matt: Because he's going to stick a chip in your neck, not activate it, erase your memory, and send you on your way like you never saw a thing. After all, that was the original plan.
Daniel: Brilliant! Why haven't I met the two of you before? She knows the right questions, and you know the right answers.
He chuckled to himself.
Daniel: So what are you then? Partners? Lovers?
Me: Ew
Matt: Ugh
Andrew: *eyeroll* They're siblings.
Daniel: Siblings?
He actually seemed surprised for the first time, and lifted his eyebrow.
Daniel: assumably, you have smart parents- the real question here though is, why are you stealing from an innocent old man like me? You could be scientists or politicians, laywers... Heck! You could even rule a country if you wanted to.
I rolled my eyes.
Me: You're hardly innocent. And I'm a thief, Matthew isn't. Why, is none of your business.
Daniel: It'll be my business soon enough.
There was a glint in his eye, like he was having fun. He reared back toward Aaron.
Daniel: Aaron, my boy! I apologize for the rude interruption, How are you feeling?
Aaron looked down at his hand, and turned from human to metal. I flinched, it seemed too unreal and caught me by surprise.
I felt a slight pain on the far side of my brain. Heh, pain and brain- rhymes. Right. Anyway, back to being serious and stuff.
And a little voice ring again in the back of my head.
Help, bring me back. Help me
The voice went from tiny to overbearing in seconds.
How? How can I help? I thought back hoping for a response. But the phrase only repeated, as though it were captured in that single thought.
Aaron turned back into a human and cast his gaze toward Daniel.
Aaron: Better than ever.
Daniel: Good! Glad to hear it.
The voice was screaming now, sending tears down the side of my cheeks from the pain.
Me: How?! How?! I'll help- just tell me how! But for the love of every packaged food product- Get out of my head!
Matt: Scarlett! What's wrong?
Daniel: Great. More drama. Just what this needs.
Andrew: You're all nut jobs. Every last one of you.
Daniel: Could someone go wipe his memory? I'm sick of listening to him.
Someone began to drag Andrew away as he kicked and screamed. But it didn't change the fact that the voice in my head was completely overwhelming. I fell to my knees.
Me: Please... Just. Make it stop...
I whimpered, eyes wide with pain. My gaze was transfixed on Aaron, after all, it was his voice that patronized me, Aaron returned the stare. At first, he was expressionless but as he continued look, his face became an array of emotions and the voice stopped. For a second it looked like he had whispered sorry, but I must've second-guessed myself
Me: What was that?
I stood up shakily.
Daniel: It was enough for me. It's about time break up the crowd here. Guards, take away Matthew.
Me: No!
Matt: It's alright, X- er.. Scarlett. It's not your fault.
Me: but it is my fault...
I felt torn apart as I watched them drag Matthew away.
Daniel: As for you, my dear-
Me: You monster! How dare you?
The tabletops started shaking beside us.
Daniel: Simmer down. You should be more concerned about yourself as of now.
Me: Ugh.
Daniel: I believe the best way to test Mr. Cliffton's new abilities, would be to pair him against a worthy opponent.
He looked over at me.
Me: You're joking, right?
Daniel: Well, I believe it's you shaking the room. Besides, you'll only get thrown around a bit.
He smiled and nodded at a guard to release me. The guard unlocked my hand cuffs. I rolled my wrists a few times, but flinched when I felt something pinch my neck.
Me: What was that?
Daniel: Insurance. That pinch is nothing compared to what I can do.
I wanted to say something but there was nothing left. I didn't know what to do anymore.
Daniel: Alright, you two youngsters can have the room to yourselves. Have fun, I'll be watching.
He walked out. Just like that. The tables continued to shake as I felt fury burn inside me. But looking at Aaron, I only saw compassion... Until he made the first move.

I dodged a punch sent for my left eye by grabbing Aaron's arm and twisting it. He let out a small grunt, and his body coated itself in metal- forcing me to lose my grip. I spun backwards, disoriented.
He took the opening, diving at me and forcing me to the ground. His weight was overbearing because of how heavy the metal had made him.
Me: You can stop this, Aaron. You don't have to become this.
I was able to use telekinesis to hit him in the head with a beaker and roll away.
Me: I know you're a victim, and it isn't fair. Please don't be Daniel's pawn
I stood and ran across to the other side of the room. Aaron met my gaze squarely and full of emotion.
Aaron: I am no pawn! I chose this life!
His eyes lied but every part of him seemed to believe that. He lifted a table and threw it at me.
I screamed and the table froze in front of me. I had never been so happy about my telekinesis.
Me: That autumn day, 2010, Jessica Karter, your first real kiss! It was on a date at the movies, your mother told you to bring breath spray.
What? How did I know that?
Aaron: Wha-what?
I threw the table to the side.
Me: Come on, Aaron! Remember!
Aaron: No. I don't know anyone named Jessica, you're crazy.
Me: Tell me something I don't know. But I'm right about this.
I extended my hand toward him.
Me: I can help you remember.
He stared at me for a moment, before deciding to run at me and hit me in the gut.
Me: Ungh!
I was knocked into the wall. The world flashed black and white, I blinked it away.
Me: I won't fight you, Aaron. That little boy who won every soccer game, but lost state championship. You thought you lost the love and respect of your father too, maybe that's why he treated you like you didn't exist.
He punched me in the jaw, causing a large popping sound to ring out in the room.
It was almost like this information was being given to me, all of these memories- his memories- flashed through my mind like messages.
Me: Your father. Denying you every chance to get close to him, robbing you of a normal life. But, Aaron, even your life was more normal than mine. And you became someone better.
He bitterly threw me into the wall. My wrist crunched beneath my weight as I pressed it between myself and the wall. I let out a yelp of pain and blinked away tears.
Me: And that girl. That girl on the playground you never stopped thinking about. Oh you regretted ignoring her after that little kiss you shared, the kiss that meant the world to her. Even though it was so long ago, and an age that didn't even matter- preschool.
I wearily stood up, I knew both sides of this story. He kicked me down.
Aaron: Enough!
Shakily, I pushed off my right arm to look up at him.
Me: And she never stopped thinking about you. She spent years wondering what happened to that boy, that boy who she came to school dressed nicely and with her hair done for. She was so affected by her first feelings of love, she applied them to her life at home. Rejection.
A tear traveled down the side of his cheek. He was surprised by this, and wiped it away.
I tried standing again, but he kicked me down once more. I snatched his leg and made him fall to the floor. I used this small opportunity to crawl away. In no time at all he was standing again, and he grabbed me by the neck.
Aaron: I don't know what your game is but I-
Me: It's no game, Aaron.
Tears traveled down my eyes and onto his hand as he held me by the neck.
Me: Ashlee. Aaron, I'm Ashlee. And it's okay. It's okay, you don't have to regret anything. I turned out... Sort of alright. And I'm right here.
He softened.
Aaron: Ashlee? But-but your name is Scarlett.
His grip loosened.
Me: You think I'd use my real name?
He cast his gaze away.
Aaron: How do I know it's you?
And now his grip is tight again. Fantastic.
Me: Playground, In the red tube. Teacher saw us, you never spoke to me again. Also, we were in a class together teaching us about the shades of the moon.
He let out a half laugh, and by that time I could hardly breath and the world became a series of colors around me.
Me: you're c-choking me
He realized this suddenly and let me go. Then he cried out in pain, and clutched his head. I felt his pain, and it overlapped everything I was already experiencing.
Daniel, at that moment, ran into the room.
Daniel: What have you done?!
Me: I-I made him remember.
I winced and rolled onto my back.
Daniel: Blue Frost.
Aaron removed his hands and glared at Daniel.
Aaron: Not anymore, old man.
Daniel: Now, Aaron... come on, let's be reasonable
Aaron: The time for reason is over.
Daniel smiled, laughed, and pulled out a switch from his pocket.
Daniel: I'll be the judge of that. Now, if I press this button, your new girlfriend over there gets knocked unconscious, with a memory wipe from the last hour.
Aaron hesitated.
Daniel: So what're you going to do? Beat me or save her? And remember, she's already suffering from the injuries that you've caused her. She could be out for days.
Reluctantly, with hate in his eyes, Aaron changed directions toward me.
Daniel: That's what I thought.
He ran out the door as Aaron knelt down beside me.
Aaron: Ashlee, are you alright?
Me: Call me Xura
He smiled.
Aaron: Geez, you're a girl of many names.
Me: It's complicated.
Aaron: I know.
He seemed surprised to say that.
Me: Are my memories going through your head?
He gave me a confused glance.
Aaron: ... Yes.
???: I believe I can explain that.
We craned our necks and smiled when we saw Matthew and Amy walk through the door.
Me: Amy! Matt! you're alright!
Matt: Yup, Amy figured something was wrong and came looking for us- lucky she ran into me.
Amy: Yeah, you would have been toast. Now, you remember the chip you got in your head? You know, Google in your brain?
Me & Aaron: Yeah?
We exchanged glances.
Me: You have a chip in your brain?
Aaron: You have one in yours?
We laughed.
Me: Well that explains everything. We must be-
Matt: -running on the same data stream. It explains why Aaron was able to retain memories of his former self, and why he sent a desperate message to you. ... Sorry. I was a little excited to figure it all out.
We laughed.
Me: It's okay, Matt... Where's Andrew?
I tried to stand, Aaron helped me up.
Matt: What happened to you?
Me: I'd honestly rather not talk about it.
Amy: Whose Andrew?
Me: Long story.
Matt: Not really. He's a prince whose full of himself.
Amy: Ah. Is he from the winters family? I stole his brother's crown once, he caught me. Then we dated. But he was too clingy.
Aaron: Are you serious?
Me: You get used to it.
I limped down the stairs.
Me: We need to find him, we have to-
Matt: Xura, We can't. If we even tried...
Amy: It'd be too late.
Me: No! We can't give up! Andrew... He's good. He's important... He matters to me.
Amy: We can look for him but he could be long gone by now.
Me: He's not. I know he isn't. We can't give up on him.
Amy: We can't win every battle

I felt a pinch in my neck, a pain run down my spine.
Amy: Xura!
The same happened to Matthew and Aaron, and we collapsed to the floor, blacking out.

Amy: Great. Now what am I going to do?

---

???: How did the test go?
Daniel: Better than I expected.
He grinned.
???: Do you believe she's the one?
Daniel: Do I believe she's the one?
He laughed.
Daniel: After today, I have never been more certain. Xura Stryker has passed the test.
???: What's your assessment?
Daniel: She needs time. She will flourish, in the meantime, I would suggest putting someone in the field.
???: Our plans are nearing their completion, Cobra out.
The screen clicks out just as someone bounced into the room.
Daniel: Good work, Addi
Addi: Thank you, sir.
Daniel: The fanfic was a nice touch.
Addi: It gives me a more... Innocent image.
He laughed.
Daniel: That it does, that it does...
He smiled. Cobra's plans may be creeping closer but he certainly had plans of his own. Plans that involved Xura.

Hey guys! I know it's been a while since I've posted, and I profusely apologize for that. I really would like to thank all my readers- I really don't deserve any of you and I'm so glad that you've chosen to read my story when there are so many other better options out there. I will try and move the next post along faster, I know that in last few posts the mood has been a little tense so I'm trying to lighten it for the next one :)

Thank you Strangers! This story wouldn't be what it is without you

P.S
Thank you Chinchillax for editing the post above this comment!

Xura, you honestly didn't have to apologize. Alot of people get EXTREMELY busy (whether it's work, school, family, ect.). Alot of your readers are probably on a similar schedule c: Besides, who can write a great story like this one in a day or two. (GREAT THINGS TAKE TIME)
The story, in my opinion, is better off with the tense moods and cliffhangers.

The one day Break! Yay!

Postby Xura » Tue Oct 27, 2015 1:34 pm

AHHHHH DIARYYYYYYY!
I think I have officially grown attached to you, number two. You've graduated from some punk blank-paged book into a much respected (sort-of), high-ranked diary of a strange teenager with lots of issues to write about. Yay!

Anyway, we left off on a pretty bad cliffhanger. So let me explain what happened, we woke up and couldn't seem to remember much of what Daniel said. Which really stinks, since I have no clue what his plan is. I'll fill in the blanks later on in the future, so if you've seen them already, it means it's the futureeee. Dun dun dun. Either that, or there's a teenage girl in another dimension who wants all her readers to be aware of the plan, while my friends and I are left in the dark. Thanks a lot random teenage girl.
Me and my imagination. So where did I leave off? Oh! Yeah. Well, we searched the building for about an hour but we didn't find Andrew :( He must've gone home, but I'm sad he won't remember us.. There's also something I must've forgotten that's bugging me. Something that has to do with him. I don't know. Oh well.
So, we decided together that we wouldn't give Addi the formula after all. Seeing what it did to Aaron was enough for all of us. We were so tired, that we all went to the hotel room and crashed there.
So now it's the morning, I'm the first person up. Yup. I know yesterday I broke my wrist, but it doesn't hurt like I'd expect it to. In fact, something weird happened on top of that. The new tattoo I have on my hand- it's glowing. Dimly, but it's GLOWING. And it's really kinda freaking me out. I don't know what to do so I'm gonna go take a shower.

I'm back! Yup. I feel clean. But the tattoo is still glowing. Amy woke up and now she's in the shower, Aaron is just starting to wake up.
Aaron: Ughhhhhhh
Me: Morning sleepyhead.
He smiled and sat up.
Aaron: Looks like I passed out on the floor.
Me: Seems so.
Matthew let out a snore from the couch.
Aaron: Why didn't I pick the comfy spot?
I laughed.
Aaron: How's your wrist?
I had put some bandages over my hand so I felt comfortable showing him my arm. He pinched my wrist. It felt like a bruise
Me: Not bad actually
Aaron: That's odd. I thought you completely crushed it.
Me: Must have been less hard than I initially thought.
Aaron: Hm.
Me: Anyway, aren't you going to tell me who Aaron Cliffton is?
He smiled.
Aaron: MI6 British secret service- special ops division. Sent to investigate Daniel Croft.
Me: Aren't you a bit young for that?
He shrugged.
Aaron: MI6 needed someone young. It was pretty easy to get into the ranks of Croft industries because you go unsuspected when your underage.
Me: So what happened?
Aaron: He found me out. Invited me to a "board meeting", and then I don't know... Influence potion and something else. I can't really remember that part.
Me: It's alright. I'm glad we're all safe
Except Andrew, a voice in the back of my brain nagged. I didn't understand why though. I mean, he made it home... probably.
Me: So... What are you going to do now?
He sighed.
Aaron: I'd assume a charming girl like you is already dating someone
He said this in a British accent and looked up, hopeful with what almost looked like puppy eyes
Me: Hey! Don't use your Britishness on me.
He laughed.
Me: But I am in a relationship.
Aaron: agh, the good ones always are.
He smiled.
Aaron: So, I've told you about me, who is Xura Stryker? Or should I say Ashlee Pawson? Or even, Scarlett Hunter?
He leaned close, looking smug.
Me: It's a long story. And I don't have my old diary.
Aaron: You let people read your diary?
Me: Meh. I've gotten used to it.
Aaron: Well, we're still connected by a data stream, so you could just show me.
Me: Oh yeah. Uh... How do I do that?
Aaron: That's a pretty good question actually. I didn't think of that.
Me: Hm.
Aaron: Hm.
We laughed.
Aaron: Maybe if you think of what you want to share with me or something?
Me: Alright, I'll give it a shot.
I closed my eyes and thought of all the things I wanted him to know. I opened an eye and looked up at him
Me: Is it working?
Aaron: No
We flinched as Matthew rolled over and mumbled something
Matt: You both need to open your minds completely
He let out another snore and dragged his hand down the side of Aaron's face. I held in a laugh as Aaron picked up his arm and placed it back on the couch.
Me: Alright. Not entirely sure if I'm comfortable with this
Aaron: Come on. Who am I going to tell?
I shrugged.
Me: Okayyy
I tried hard not to conceal even one thought.
Me: now is it working?
Aaron: Yeah
Me: Are you in my brain?[i]
[i]Aaron: Are you in mine?

We laughed outloud.
Me: This is weird. It's like you're in my thoughts
Aaron: That's because I am. You're in mine too.
Me: That's creepy. Gosh I could kill for a peanut butter and banana sandwich right now
Aaron: Who are you, Elvis?

I laughed. I didn't mean to share that last bit. It must have meant that he could read every thought I had, which also meant that I could read his.
Me: So are you getting my history now? Or...
He nodded.
Aaron: I'm reviewing it.
Our minds were both open to each other so I couldn't really help wanting to snoop around whatever Aaron's past had.
Since all of our thoughts were out in the open- I latched onto a memory of his.

Aaron's memory
A blonde woman looking to be about in her thirties stood in the corner of the room, talking to a middle-aged bald man who looked as though he had rolled out on the wrong side of the bed this morning.
"He's only sixteen," the woman snapped, loud enough for Aaron to hear.
"He has three years of experience and the highest grade levels in the country," the bald man replied with a roll of his eyes. "Besides that, his primary family is not deeply rooted into his life, especially not with his mother's recent death."
A wave of sadness rushed over Aaron. His mother had died three years ago, and that's why he wanted to go into the business of saving others.
"You want to send a boy out into the field? If he gets found out- MI6 could be shut down."
"No one will find out, Nancy. Calm down."
She clicked her heel against the wood floor and bit the tip of her fingernail in thought before she argued, "Croft is too dangerous for a first mission."
"So then we'll wait a bit. For now, we can send him to investigate the happenings with-"

The memory was interrupted when I heard Amy's voice behind us.
Amy: What're you doing?
We both turned around.
Aaron: Uh...
Me: Well...
Matt: *mutters in sleep* I didn't do it...
She tapped her foot, expecting an answer.
Me: We're using the datastream we have to share our memories
Amy: Xura! You can't just go around telling everyone your past!
Me: But it's so much easier that way. Plus, Aaron is the only person who will ever be able to experience my memories
Amy: *sighs* Xura... You should be able to count on one hand how many people know your history. Tell me how many people know.
Me: Uh... You, Zack, Nick, Matthew, Lucas, Cole, Tony, Loki, Coleson and uh.. Now Aaron.
Amy: That's ten people, Xura. Ten. No more.
Me: But Amyyy...
Amy: I should just ban you from meeting new people altogether.
Me: But Amyyy...
Amy: Yeah. Maybe I'll do that. *shrugs* I could become your agent or something.
Me: Amyyy...
Amy: No arguing. I'm going to get your next mission. You can go ahead and ditch your friend there.
Me: Ditch?
Amy: What is that not the word? Say goodbye, adios, hasta Lavista! We have work to do.
I turned back toward Aaron
Me: Ignore her.
He smiled.
Aaron: I don't mind.
Me: Let's finish looking through my memories. How far are you?
Aaron: You just met Thor where I am.
Amy: That part is fun. That hunk of a man, Loki, comes in.
Me: Spoilers, Amy! Spoilers!
She shrugged.
Aaron: Okay. Ready
We were able to read each other's thoughts again which helped me to find more memories of his. I found out that his mother died in a mysterious fire at an Oscorp facility, and that his father wasn't very supportive after that. He was approached by a man at school after he had aced a certain "skill development" test- this man took him through a series of deeper rooted tests that led him to a job at MI6. This meant he would have to move to London, so his father was told that he would attend early college at Oxford University. Somehow, this news still couldn't please his father- as he was interested now in finding a new wife.
Aaron convinced himself that he could care less as he settled into London life. Three years of training- he learned how to speak French, the art of Kung Fu, wushu, and Kragmagah. He also learned basic spy skills like attitude, how to conduct yourself around others, and even how to dress.
It was all a bit shocking, really. I suppose you never really know a person until you read their memories through the chip in your brain that you both just happened to have. Yup.
Aaron: Agh! All done!
We stopped sharing thoughts, and we blinked a few times to make sure we were really done.
Aaron: Okay. Wow. That was a lot to process
Me: Yeah, sorry about that.
Aaron: You really have been through a lot.
Me: Yeah.
Aaron: And your tattoo, let me see it.
I completely forgot that he would know about that. Blushing, I unwrapped the bandage that I had put around my hand. He gently lifted my hand, the glow had become even dimmer.
Aaron: I have a theory-
He suddenly twisted my arm.
Me: Ah!
Aaron: Pain?
Me: Uh... No.
This was the wrist I broke but I felt nothing.
Aaron: We both know that you broke your wrist, so why aren't you screaming in pain?
Me: Wow, thanks. Maybe I'm just lucky
Aaron: Luck has nothing to do wth it. Something is accelerating your healing process and it has to do with this tattoo.
He turned it over again.
Aaron: A tree. That symbol must mean something.
I sighed.
Me: Whatever it is, it seems like it'll be a whole new problem to deal with.
He smiled sympathetically.
Aaron: Hey. Things will get better soon. You can always come to MI6 with me.
I laughed.
Me: I need to lay low and work things out for a while, but I might take you up on that sometime in the future.
He grinned and stood up, I followed his action. He surprised me with a bear hug I didn't see coming.
Aaron: You are beautiful, sweet, kind, and incredibly smart. You mean more than you realize, and don't let yourself believe that you're anything less than gorgeous.
Aaron's strong steady hold made me feel small but comfortable. I burrowed my face in his shoulder as I hugged him back.
Me: And don't let your dad get to you. You're an amazing guy.
He nodded and smiled.
Aaron: Thanks
I walked him to the door.
Aaron: I hope we see each other again.
Me: We will.
He laughed a little under his breath before leaving. Amy threw down her magazine.
Amy: Finally! Now we can get down to business without British intelligence breathing down our necks.
I smiled.
Me: Oh Amy. Can't we take a break today?
Amy: Break? Breaks are for chumps.
Me: Really? I can't take a break from having maniacs handcuff me in their labs while they explain their evil plot to me?
Amy: Pfft! That only happened once. You should've been at that charity auction in Stanford- Now that was real chaos.
We heard Matthew start to wake up.
Matt: *yawns* What did I miss? Where's Aaron?
Me: Not much. He went back to his job.
Matt: Oh. Well, I think I'm going to go home.
Me: Alright. Send Jake my love.
He saluted as he walked out the door, hair in a mess and his sweater creased and dirty.
Amy: Just us again.
Me: Yup.
Amy: ... so a break?
Me: yup
Amy: Would that... Mean?
I nodded.
Amy: Alright. I think I would be a okay with a one-day break.

I grinned as we both leapt on the bed and turned Netflix on to Doctor Who.
Amy: Season 4, here we come!
Yup. So we spent the whole day binge watching Doctor Who until we reached season 5 with Matt Smith. Yeah... Matt Smith <3
Write in you later diary!

The Triple Chocolate Pudding Cup

Postby Xura » Sun Nov 01, 2015 7:36 pm

Happy Halloween guys!
I hope you've all had an amazing holiday for it and I'd love to see comments of what you chose to go as- or if you didn't go as anything... :) I decided that I would do a quick little short about Matt for Halloween- although it's in the future for Xura's life c:

Okay. Piece of paper. Paper? No, way too cliche. Maybe uh... Potato?
Taken
Blueberry?
Taken
Apple Pancake?
That's taken too?! UGHHH.
I know! I'll call you... Triple Chocolate Pudding Cup! Or TCPC for short. Yup.

So... Hey TCPC. My name is Matthew Stryker. And I'm pretty average :T besides the fact, of course, that my sister is a spy and my aunt mysteriously disappeared two and half years ago. Yeah. Well anyway, I should tell you a little about me.
My aunt raised me until I was fifteen. She and I were pretty close, but I didn't have any other family members; although, she would occasionally take me to see her "close friends", which were probably my parents. I would go into detail about my parents and all that stuff but it's Halloween and TMI, am I right? Even though my Aunt Cinna disappeared, I've grown close to my sister and even made a life here on the outskirts of New York.
Jake: Matt! What are you doing?
Morgan: Yeah, come on! We need to go
Sorry TCPC, Jake and Morgan are my friends and we're headed to a party tonight. I was only going because it was at Elizibeth's house. I broke up with her about a week ago and, admittedly, I miss her like crazy. She's the only thing I think about.
I ran down the stairs, adjusting my cloak as it wrinkled in the back.
Morgan: About time.
We stepped out the door and began our walk to Lizzy's house.
Jake: I wish Xura could've been here.
He looked troubled as he said it, but quickly suppressed the emotion as he twisted his facial expression into something more cheery.
Me: I'm sure she wanted to be here.
I took a moment to think about where she was. Maybe robbing some billionaire? Taking on a villain in the most epic battle of the century? Wherever she may be, I always look forward to hearing her crazy almost unbelievable stories. She used to live with us, but she had moved out earlier in the year without warning and for no foreseeable reason at all. I miss her a lot, but I still see her whenever she's free from the patronizing life of a spy.
Jake: Yeah...
He sighed. Jake has been more mopey lately, and he spends a concerning amount of time around Jenette- and Even though I've tried to tell Xura about it, she refuses to even aknowledge it. I guess it's because she knows Jake wouldn't cheat on her, and she's right.
We got to the house a bit sooner than expected, and nearly missed it had it not been for Morgan's playful shove in the shoulders. We stepped into a crowd of high schoolers. Everyone was dancing, laughing, and generally talking- but it was almost impossible to find anyone without first bumping into them.
Jake: I'm going to try and find Jenette! Tell me if you see her, she's dressed as a beaver!
I nodded and gave him a thumbs-up as he blended into the crowd.
Me: Well I guess it's just you and-
I turned to see that Morgan had already left me and I was talking to myself. Wonderful.
A dancing girl came up to me.
Girl: Hey! What's your name?
Oh! A girl! Maybe I could stop thinking about Lizzy if I get into another relationship
Me: UH UHM AGH UH.... Matt
Girl: What was that? I can't hear you with all the music!
Me: Matt! My name is Matt!
Girl: Well, gee you don't have to shout
She flipped her hair and gently squeezed my bicep.
Girl: Do you work out?
Me: No.
Who works out?
Girl: What?!
Me: I said no!
Girl: So then you do lots of charity stuff, right?
Me: Uh... No.
Should I be doing that? Now I feel guilty.
Girl: O.o what? Then why would I ever want to date you?
Me: ... I like science?
Girl: Lame!
I sighed. I guess I'll never win another girl again. Completely understandable, I don't even know why Elizibeth liked me.
???: I think it's pretty cool. Cooler than you, Tracey. Especially since you're hitting on my man.
I looked up to see Lizzy, who had dressed as a fairy.
Tracey: Oh Lizzy! Heheh... We were just talking.
Lizzy: Yeah, right.
Tracey rolled her eyes.
Tracey: Don't you have some magic spells to cast or something?
Lizzy: Yeah, it's called bippity-boppity get out of my house.
Tracey rolled her eyes again and made for the exit. It was now just me and Lizzy.
Me: Do you want to talk?
Lizzy: No.
She slapped me. I rubbed my cheek.
Me: Now do you want to talk?
She slapped me again.
Me: I'll take that as a no.
Lizzy: You broke my heart, Matthew! You didn't even tell me why.
Me: I felt like we weren't right, but now-
Lizzy: I don't care about how you feel now. You really hurt my feelings.
There were tears in her eyes.
Me: Don't cry-
She ran out of the room and into her backyard, I tried to go after her but was swallowed up into a crowd of people. I sighed. How was I going to make this up to her? I looked around and saw as someone entered the house. My sister, Xura, and her friend Amy were here. I almost couldn't believe it.
Me: Xura?!
She turned to face me.
Xura: Matt? What're you doing here?
Me: It's a Halloween party... At Lizzy's house.
She and Amy exchanged glances.
Amy: Well that would explain it.
Xura: Yeah. You should go look around for you-know-who
She nodded and walked away into the mess of things.
Me: What's going on?
Xura: Hm? Oh, nothing important. Just stuff.
She smiled.
Me: Is someone here (***SPOILERS***)?
Xura: Dang it, Matt! How do you even guess that?
I laughed.
Me: I have my ways.
Xura: Well anyway, Amy and I pretty much have it under control. So how's Lizzy?
Me: She and I broke up and so now I'm trying to win her back.
Xura: Oh. Wow. I really wasn't expecting that answer. Hm.
She stuck her hand in her pocket and seemed to be fingering something. She then stopped and pulled it out of her pocket. It was a decorated necklace with a heart at the end.
Xura: Why don't you give her this?
Me: Where did you even get that?
Xura: ... It's a long story.
Me: Tell it short?
Xura: *sighs* Uhm-uh.. It was from a guy. He's- he's... Uhm..
She blushed
Xura: It's not important. Just take the necklace.
She put it in my hand and took off before I could say another word. I fingered it. It had diamonds carefully placed around the edges, and the texture was as smooth as stone. I would just have to find Lizzy now.

I ran around her house, through the gate, and into her backyard. If I knew her well enough, she would be in her treehouse. When I reached the tree, I noticed she had taken the ladder away.
Me: Rapunzel! Rapunzel! Let down your hair!
I saw a familiar face peer down from the tree
Lizzy: And why should I?
Me: Because I'm a dumb boy whose crazy for you
Lizzy: Yeah? And?
Me: And, I'll never make the mistake of leaving you again. Because... Because I love you, Elizibeth.
There was a rustling sound, then she threw down the ladder. I climbed up.
Me: I love you, Lizzy.
Lizzy: I love you too
She smiled. I love that smile.
Me: Hold out your hand.
Lizzy: What? Why?
Me: Come on, trust me. Close your eyes and hold out your hand.
She casted me a suspicious glance before following my instructions. I delicately placed the locket into her palm, and laughed as she opened her eyes and let out a gasp
Lizzy: Where did you get this?
Me: It's not important.
She kissed me.
Lizzy: Thank you! It's beautiful. Would you.. Uh... Mind putting it on?
Me: Oh! Uh.. No problem.
I took the necklace and gently draped it behind her neck. I fiddled with the clip for a moment before I could get it to stay on.
Me: There!
She sauntered over to the mirror in her treehouse.
Lizzy: It really completes this outfit.
She smiled again and kissed me.
Lizzy: Should we go back to the party?
I nodded and we climbed down the ladder. We then watched as Amy sped down the lawn after a runaway girl whose jacket had caught on fire
Xura: Amy! Wait up!
Xura came out of the house with one shoe on, and a large punch stain on her sweater. She unzipped it quickly and half-saluted me as she ran after Amy.
Xura: Nice party Liz! Bye Matt!
She hopped the fence as we said our goodbyes.
Lizzy: Well, that was strange.
Me: Yeah, she must have one strange diary.
Lizzy: Your sister has a diary?

Yup. So we pretty much partied until ten thirty-ish. Then I went home and wrote all this down in you, TCPC. So, happy Halloween!
